  • Starting today and extending through June 22, Grounded flight will be available for accepted Xbox Insiders in the Xbox Insider Hub and Steam client as a part of the Steam Game Festival as a single-player demo.
  • Grounded will enter Xbox Game Preview with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and Steam Early Access on July 28, 2020.

Starting today through June 22, global fans can experience an early demo of Grounded, Obsidian Entertainment’s upcoming survival adventure game, through the Xbox Insider Program and/or through Steam Game Festival. Those who registered to be an Xbox Insider can now check their Xbox Insider Hub to see if they have been accepted to participate in the Grounded flight on Xbox. Fans also have an opportunity to explore the vast, beautiful, and dangerous world of Grounded through the same single-player demo released on Xbox Insider, on Steam as part of the Steam Game Festival.

The demo will allow players to get a look at the single-player experience of Grounded. Upon choosing their character, players will be thrust right into the heart of the backyard at sunrise, and will quickly discover that life is different when you’re only one centimeter tall. Over the course of one in-game day, this experience will allow players to craft tools and weapons, build structures, and survive against the various perils of being small.

I am actually really excited for this game despite not often caring much for survival games. This honestly does look like a really damn fun game that I will be able to play with friends or with my younger brother (although, he is 13 now and we just played the Gears saga together as his first time, so I guess that is a moot point now). Everything I have seen so far relating to this game makes it look just really damn fun and creative

Same as above, dial back the insecure console warring. It's like showing your ass in public. No one wants to see it, and it's only you that likes the smell of it.
Are those R&C Rift Apart graphics on a current gen console? :messenger_squinting_tongue:

Apparently the game has an arachnophobia mode

"To help those with arachnophobia play the game, the team has been working closely with Microsoft's User Research Lab to develop an Arachnophobia Mode that will change the look and feel of the spiders," Social Media Manager Shyla Schofield said during Monday's Grounded Developer Vlog. "This mode will also be client-side, so each person playing will be able to decide if they want to play with Arachnophobia Mode on or off without affecting the other people playing."

Why are Obsidian not making RPGs that they are known for and good at?
Because they wanted to make it. That has been our biggest complaint about Microsoft forcing teams to make shit they did not want like gaas. This is what we should be happy for if obsidian wanted to make a small side project let them have the creative freedom to do so. Not every game has to be a Sony clone to be good.

I was asking because they are claiming AAA games every other month from first-party studios, but it is difficult to know what they mean by "AAA", as that's a vague term.

I highly doubt AAA every other month is real. 1st of all its from some random dude on a random forum that no one ever heard of (at least I didn't). I do not believe Microsoft ever made such a claim to begin withI. I would not read too much into the whole AAA once every month thing. Even if it is happening, it will take some time for that to get kicked into gear, we still have yet to see any 1st phase games from their studios.

As a matter of fact Microsoft claimed a AAA game every 3 months -and this was year claimed/talked about last year. So here is your answer, the rumor is bullshit. 3 -4triple A games a year makes sense and is a good balance.

surprised to find the game running at 60fps on One X.
I was expecting 30fps just like Outer Worlds.

it's hard to judge the game from this small demo, but it seems to be alright I guess?
the aim sensitivity slider is broken tho, so that sucks.

if I had to guess the resolution I'd say it's dynamic and hangs around 1440p to 1600p, but due to UE4's aggressive AA that's hard to say without actually measuring it

I'd love to give it a shot, but I am editing a video right now, care to tell me how the gameplay works please? I haven't had a chance to check it out. What's the concept/design?
It's a survival/crafting game with puzzleish objectives and exploration. Being shrunk down and running from bugs you step on in real life is actually intense. The bug AI is good and they will swarm an sneak up on you like real insects.

To play you need to be an Xbox Insider. It's a pre Game Preview snippet, so don't expect a ton of polish, but it is still very playable. Down side is that you can only play in 30 minute chunks, meaning the game ends after playing for 30 minutes but you can start over with another 30.

Can you play it again after your 30 minutes runs out?
