The touchpad is a godsend for use on the PC since it acts as a mousepad.

Plus they needed to keep it along with the gyro capabilities for backwards compatibility. Some people actually swear by gyro for racing and shooting games.

A white base color and translucent buttons is pretty stupid actually. The sweat of your hands will discolor the whie areas in no time and turn them piss-color-yellow.

Doom 64 has it in a limited way but its not my jam.
But as a console player i need that touch pad gone. Its useless.
And the light bar could not be turned off complete you could only dimm it.
I need an option to turn it off.

What exactly did they just win at? They just showed a design. You could argue that you like this design over Microsoft's, which would be a subjective opinion. To win at something, it has to be objective fact. What exactly is the contest that this controller design is winning at?

For me, I still prefer Xbox's analogue stick placement over Sony's. I am also not a fan of the lightbar. The touchpad (still not something new in this design) could be nice if it was used better in games.

I like Microsoft's approach on forwards/backwards compatibility of their controllers and other peripherals. Any word if Sony is doing the same?

That two tone makes it look cheap, like there are two different finishes on the plastic with the standard DS4 controller underneath and the new shiny on top. Sorta like a Ricer car with a big ass wing and bodykits or a Rap Car with big wheels, booming system and cannabis inhaling type behind the wheel.

On the plus side it looks super ergonomic, dpad appears great and the sticks are in the right place. Plus those new features sound really interesting.

Edit: Want to add that it's not official, just a mock up. The controller in itself is very well designed but the original color scheme don't mesh well.

It will always come in combos of two colors. Best we can hope for is black-silver or black-red or so.

Mark my words. That built in microphone is going to become the bane of PS5 players existence. So many folks are going to turn it on and it will be their primary microphone. It will sounds like ass and everyone in party chat is going to want to murder them. For the cost of the controller there is no way that is a high quality microphone.
