Bootyful

Off topic, I’m looking to get my account banned/deleted. Anyone know how to do this? I’m a junior member, I can’t pm any mods and there’s literally no way for me to figure this out.

Nothing against the site, I’m just all set with posting on the internet. Gamefaqs and Resetera are both gone now and I want this gone too.

I reported you. I'm just curious, do you have zero self control? such a dumb reason to ask a ban. Just leave.

Well, at least they decided not to ruin the cover, so at least there is something that they haven't butchered from the original...

It's great but they should remove 'Remake' in the title. Just call it Final Fantasy VII. Most ppl won't even know it's a remake.

There isn't any legality that I'm aware of as to how games are named. Technically speaking, Square Enix could release a game called "Kingdom Hearts Remake" but instead of Sora and the gang it would just be a generic match-three puzzle game with no Disney characters. Whether it will affect the game's sales, how much consumer backlash there would be, and whether it would be damaging to their brand are all risk assessments I'm sure they've already done.

Even still, there will be a lot of fans that buy this without knowing it'll be split into parts then getting to the end of Midgar and going "I remember there used to be more to this game..."

Yeah, honestly I'm not too familiar with that part of the law either. Tough I remember some companies in my country getting in trouble for naming their products in an intentionally misleading way (it was mostly food stuff though, so Imagine that's different)

Anyway, I doubt anything legal will come from this. I wouldn't be surprised if they get a bit of a backlash online though, once people realize it's an expanded remake of the first 4-5 hours of the original as opposed to a full remake of the entire game

Can't wait to try this. I've never played FFVII, somehow skipped it and jumped straight to FFVIII. I know I'm missing a lot of emotion that comes with nostalgia and won't have the same experience as most of you, but we'll see. Hopefully even a grown ass will be able to enjoy the story to the same degree as a teenager in the 90's. Or close to it.

How are they gonna call the second part?

Final Fantasy VII-2?
Final Fantasy VII: Vol 2: From Kalm to Junon ... Remake?
Aerith No Returns Final Fantasy VII?

I love it, shows their commitment to the brand and staying true to the true FFVII experience. That cover art was iconic. I suppose the other entries may have just a different character in the front. No doubt the final one has Sephiroth on the front

New screens look really great.
The cover emmm not impressed. The image is nice (although it's a really safe choice) but the logo is too black and dark and seems like a sticker put on the cover as an afterthought.

Why does it not say "part 1" on the cover or something else indicating that it is NOT a full remake of the original?
Yeah this is what’s bothering me the most about this remake. To this of us who follow this game, we know it’s not the full game. To any casual gamer who sees this and says “oh I remember this awesome game I played on ps1” and then picks it up... they’re not gonna have any indication that it’s part 1...of 5 or something. Theyre not being honest with its marketing at all.

Maybe this is the only disc release and the other 2 are each $60 season passes download only. Idk

Not a fan. It looks weirder in higher-fidelity graphics.

Why is he holding the sword there? Is there an invisible sheathe? It just looks awkward.

Titanic was called the Ship of Dreams, and it was. It really was.
Nice graphics, I guess. Huge fan of the original, I'll give this a try. Not feeling it very much so far. I really hate this new trendy western RPG gameplay style, I don't find it fun. But I'm happy that it's getting made.

I might not buy it but I'll definitely try it, and supporting it with good word of mouth on whatever the redeeming qualities are. Congrats SE, I hope it sells a ton.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.

I cannot imagine that most FFVII fans who are planning to buy this game don't already know it's set in Midgar only. And a large chunk of people who buy and play this game will have never played FFVII before either.

Nice with that classic image as cover. So fucking hyped for this game. It looks incredible. I hope SE knocks it out of the park with this.

Me too! I always wanted to get into the game, in part because of that iconic cover, and now with this remake I finally feel like I can take on a legendary game in a way that I'm able to, the action RPG format is what I always imagined Final Fantasy 7 to be like when I was a kid and I can finally play the game like how child me imagined the game played!

I don't understand all the complaints regarding Tifa. I think she looks fantastic.

Granted, I never played much of FF7 (FF6 was my more my preference), as I only played the initial part with them breaking into the factory and stopped at the bar when Tifa is introduced. I have no childhood nostalgia with the original, but I may just get this game because the gameplay looks good and the characters (like Tifa) look incredible.

Its beautiful. Final Fantasy doesn't need elaborate covers. I was happy with just the plain white covers Japan does. It is elegant and holds a lot of mystery for what the game is.
Completely agree. The white cover with the logo is as iconic and symbolic as GTA box arts.

I accepted the compromise or tradition and modern marketing by having a protagonist on the cover with XIII, Disappointed with XV' break from tradition but happy to see the reference to the white background return with VII-R.
