Not weird at all. The ink is there for a challenge which is hideous to include it in standard

It's not like there's a shortage of them, I've found like 12 already.

If you can just freely save whenever you want then nothing feels threatening because dying doesn't matter. Free saving should be exclusive to easy mode honestly.

Just finished Leon campaign. Because Mr X wouldn’t let me take my time in RPD, I never got the MAG and so I had to beat the last two bosses with a pistol. That is EXACTLY the kind of thing I was worried would happen with the stupid Mr X mechanic. It should be like the original RE2 where if you put in the work to shoot him down you can get your ammo back and return to playing normally till his next story introduction.

After all zombies pass through doors, hum? Great, that wasn't on the demo.

In the demo they would stay outside. I had a zombie headbutting on the door, and then the sob walk through.

I'm a few hours in with Leon and it's just an incredible experience so far. Capcom really did an outstanding job and it's easily going to be a GOTY contender/winner. My hope now is that it sells beyond Capcom's expectations, so well in fact that not only does it set RE3 and RE4 remakes in stone, but by extraordinary sales, other companies take note and bring back linear, non-bloated single player games. There is nothing like 6-8 hour games when they are as tight as RE2make. Another hope though less likely, is that this brings back dormant survival horror games like Dead Space, Silent Hill and Evil Within, if the companies see the money to made, it may be possible.... oh and Dino Crisis Capcom, it will make bank, if you put in similar love and care, we promise!

My UPS driver is slow as shit. It's after 6 and he still hasn't showed. He's always like this and it's annoying.. Sometimes he doesn't show up until after 9. I'm ready to play, damn it! This sucks :lollipop_grimacing:

Hm. I guess you must be connected at all times to use the downloadable content. I don’t really have a need to be connected all the time and I went to play and it couldn’t find the costumes, bgm music or weapons because I was offline. That’s pretty dumb.

You can return to the RPD from the Sewers to get any missed items, with no Mr. X.
The path to return is to the locked door left of the place where you get one of the 3 "chess" pieces, that raises that bridge when you remove it. You open it with the sewer key, which you can find on the left side of the path right before you enter the G-Mutant lair to get the other 2 "chess" pieces.

Can you 'kill' Mr X, like the orig game, or is he constantly following you around once he shows up?. Its just i'm watching a stream and the player put so much ammo into X and he still didn't drop (first time he shows up)

He goes down for about 30 seconds, that's it.
Have to reach a certain story point for him to be disabled, then he'll only appear in a few scripted moments for Leon's campaign, and gone for good in Claire's.

Just finished off Leon A, that was great. Top remake so far. Heals were a bit scarce toward the end though- I have a penchant for not using first aid sprays thanks to the rank penalties in some of the older games, so come the final encounter I was running on fumes. Ammo for days though, so it wasn't too bad.

Looking at the rank screen, there isn't any mention of a penalty so I guess I just did a self-imposed challenge run. Hmm. Not the first time this has happened...

Interested to see how the B scenario looks now. And that popup as soon as you go back to the main menu that goes to great pains to educate you about the second run- makes IGN look even more silly :messenger_tears_of_joy:

You can't down him for an ammo drop like in the original, though there is an achievement that implies that you can make him temporarily drop to one knee if you dole out enough damage. I've not bothered to shoot him outside of one pistol round to knock his hat off.

And if you put a couple of rooms between you and him he'll lose your trail, but he doesn't despawn. Just wanders around (loudly!) until he catches wind of you again.

Just found a pistol upgrade and it won’t work on the samurai 9mm preorder bonus gun.

Nice.

Guess it’s back to the Matilda. What the fuck lmao

Hunk's theme is......amazing!

It's called Looming Dread

Also notable exquisite sound-bites from the new music score are :

Tyrant (a.k.a. Mr. X) as a pursuer for your regular play-through moments "Black Impact"

Tyrant's (a.k.a. Mr. X) second form battle "Last Judgement"

Leon's Escape from the Lab "Collapse"

Claire's Escape from the Lab "Expansion"

The battle against the 1st malformation of G "Absurd Advent"

The battle against the 2nd malformation of G "Reliving the Present"

The battle against the 3rd malformation of G "Third Demise"

When Claire faces the 4th malformation of G on the giant elevator-platform train. "Mournful Pursuit"

I'm self employed. I was taking the days off anyway as the job I was doing is pretty much finished and I'm trying to waste time on it.

Same boat here. I’ll take a day or two if there is something I’m excited for. I took Friday for this. No ragrets at all.

I hate the new music in this. It barely plays anything and when it does it lats barely a minute. So glad I got the OG soundtrack.

I played the game yesterday, and I am appalled at how bad the shadow dithering was on the ps4./ps4 pro I thought that it was just the demo, but capcom apparently never changed anything to improve it. Reminds me of the SFV dithered shadows issue on the ps4 that was on the beta as well as the final game when it launched. The next time, any unpolished visuals you see on the demo from a capcom game is pretty much how it would be in the final game. Aside from that issue, I loved the game, and I can't wait to play it more and explore the new 3d environments.

Having Mr. X everywhere is annoying. Even the lobby. Feeling like I’m just rushing through and I don’t like it. My only negative this far. It’s an amazing experience. Capcom should be proud.

When the game was revealed and we saw concept art and screenshots, I thought the people saying Claire's face looked weird were crazy. I didn't see it. But damn, now that I'm playing it, what the fuck is up with her face? Leon looks so normal and she's like a troll doll that turned into a human.

I must be going off what I already know or maybe it's just common. But I'm at 12% trophies. I got a bunch after two hours.

I'm really enjoying this game. The smooth gameplay and beautiful atmosphere makes it awesome to explore. I almost thought I saw a zombie with the same skin and thought "God I hope that's not a duplicate spawning".

I chose Leon and the alternate outfit is cool. I guess it's on by default?
Im past the medallions. I'm having fun. i kept my shotgun out for the lickers

What do you guys think the chance of them ditching first person camera for RE8 is now that this game has had such positive reception?

Hearing Mr. X clump , clumping around a couple of rooms from you is freaking terrifying . Kind of wish I started off on hardcore mode but guess I'll leave that for subsequent playthoughs with other costumes..maybe even low poly Leon

That elevator scene with Claire was very good. Game is providing its worth of existing very much so, gotta be honest however. My favourite tune from the new OST is

I enjoyed VII. It was a good game to me, but I also think VII is a one-off. I can't imagine an entire game with Chris, Leon, Claire, or Jill using that engine. Ethan had his own interesting story. Trapped in a hell house. But it had a solid ending. I can't imagine another's scenario. I'd imagine they'd keep the timeline going or keep everyone at the age they are now. I'd love to see them just call VII a one-off and just keep this style.

This remake and even RE Remake (0 too) shows that this can work for future titles. I'd imagine Capcom knows this formula, but the "market" has influenced their investors/ideas in the past. I could be wrong. I'd say after this and DMC5, there's a very good shot at perfecting Resident Evil again.

I was almost afraid of an MTV - Netflix style to the remake, but I love what I'm playing.

So I’m playing on PC. Had to use Reshade to clean up the image quality a bit. There was so much shiny stuff.

I played for a good 2 hours or so just going thru and I haven’t seen mister X yet. Not really looking forward to it because it seems like it will be the ability to really enjoy the environments having to run all the time.

For me I hope it never comes back. I vastly, vastly, VASTLY prefer third person perspective over first person in RE.

So did anybody else just stick with the Matilda? I didn’t even use the samurai edges especially when I fully upgraded the Matilda.

Canon is actually Claire A and Leon B

Overall, I’m loving this game! Mr. X is pissing me off though. It gets annoying when you have to go do a puzzle and he’s just walking back and forth in the hallways. 😩

That's what I thought, hence I started with Claire, but Claire getting to the Police Station so soon seem off and in Leon B, Marvin is already dead
But I've just read they've mix it up and Leon alway meets Marvin as thats now cannon and the A and B stuff doesn't apply.
It is now Leon A - Claire B
But as you said story wise the original was the opposite and that was Cannon as confirmed by the sequals, even though Leon was Disc one (also first option in this) and he gets out the left side of the vehicle as he does in this Remake too which is Route A
But ya I know Claire A Leon B was cannon, but it just didn't feel right when I was playing, although I haven't played route B yet so. and this is a remake.

That doesn't sound too bad actually. Thanks for the feedback.
Well about 2nd playthrough.
Like the original he's there pretty much from the beginning, so very very very intrusive throughout the RPD. Don't expect to explore at your leisure during scenario B.

Am I the only one who experiencing 2 second freezes during some section in the game on PC? I've seen one before you have to squize through the window to get to the next section of the police station (at the begining) or before the second Leaker spawns right after you get the last medal on the 3rd floor. I just don't understand what's causing this BS cuz the game loads from a Samsung 850 Pro SSD and I'm playing the game on 4790K @4.4 GHz on all cores, 16 GB RAM and AUROS 1080Ti. The fuck? I mean, like 99% of time the game runs perfectly but these accasional 2 second freezes in some areas of the game is so goddamn annoying. What can possibly cause this BS?

Just finished Claire 1st Scenario. The way the maps connect made the whole run felt like a "3rd Scenario", with everything remixed like that.

But the Tyrant system almost ruined the game for me. It was a cool surprise on the original 2nd Scenario, but this time, it's just annoying.

And kinda dumb

The strong sales really make me excited about the future of Survival Horror. Remake 3 is a cert but I wonder if they will skip CV to go straight to 4. As excited as I am for Remake 4 I hope they do CV first, with Resi 2 graphics and detail it would be amazing.

Hope Silent Hill gets some love from Konami. Silent Hill 1 is my favourite in the franchise and the most complete story IMO. Imagine walking the streets of Silent Hill with modern graphics.

And lastly in this post of fantasy Evil Within 3 please!
