Today's the day and I'm beyond hyped! Of course I can't even touch the game as I'm going out of town, and won't be back until Sunday. Rooooough! 😭

Hope you're all having a great time with it! I look forward to being frightened by Mr. X again.

Man zombies take sooooo many bullets to die I don't want to shoot them, but I can't be having 50 zombies around when Mr X shows up.

Deluxe Edition was totally worth it for the OG RE2 OST and sfx sounds.

Those RE2 OG menu sounds. :messenger_smiling_hearts::messenger_smiling_hearts::messenger_smiling_hearts::messenger_smiling_hearts:

It's in the audio settings, you did buy the deluxe version right?

Thanks. Yeah I did. For Xbox One. Something happened with how it was installed I guess. I had to uninstall all the costumes, music and extra weapons then reinstall. It took about 10 minutes for all of it to redownload and install. Then the game wouldn’t launch so a restart fixed it and it showed up.

I think you have to plan your routes through the police station even more careful then in the original. I like it a lot.

Can you not sneak past lickers? I'm playing hardcore and am slightly past meeting Mr. X. Trying to sneak back through the other wing of the police station as my ammo is pretty dire, and no matter what the lickers hear me and I die. I'm playing on PC and am thinking I might need to plug a controller in so I can move slower with an analog stick?

Video contains spoilers, but.....

did you just see that?
Mr. X broke through the wall of the Press Conference room. Like he does in the original....
OMG!

Sounds like a completely idiotic and masochistic idea do a first run on Hardcore. That shit is tailor made for going through with infinite ammo and the unbreakable knife. The amount of people struggling through it is fucking hilarious.

I'm a bit of a trophy whore, and while I doubt I'll platinum this, I do plan on getting most of them.

That said, PowerPyx's guide is actually really good on simply letting you know how playthroughs work and whats the best way to get the most out of your playthroughs.

A first run on Assisted to grab all of the collectibles (which unlocks the unbreakable knife) and the two specific boss trophs.. Then use the unbreakable knife on your Normal run cleaning up all other combat based trophs. Then do another speedy Normal run to get the S rank and infinite ammo. THEN do Hardcore mode.

So Amazon is taken their sweet time delivering my copy, picking up the little one in a bit and work tomorrow
Looks like I won't be playing to Sunday.
And if I get call in Monday it looks to be a long week for me until I return to Raccoon City.

Not necessarily. It's hard but totally doable.

NO IT'S NOT!

This is based soly on Leon first playthrough. He shows up fairly late in the NPD part of the game, so you'll be exploring fine for a long time, however when he does he's pretty much always on your ass, or you'll at least be hearing his footsteps in rooms around you, and you can no longer explore at your leisure. Thankfully after NPD he's no longer a moving hazard, and just has a few scripted appearances. You can also find your way back to NPD for late game exploring if you did miss anything.

That doesn't sound too bad actually. Thanks for the feedback.

I still find is stupid they didn't include the original OST or even redid the OST for the Remake.
The lack music is a mistake on their part.
Hopefully RE3 OTS will be included in the game when they do the Remake.

I get 30 + days annual leave a year which equates to 6 + weeks, 1 or 2 days for some downtime playing games I don't think is too bad. It's not as if I am calling in sick to play games or anything like that.

'Round here you can skip work as much as possible as long as you continue to provide results at a decent pace. I know some grad students who haven't stepped foot on campus outside a couple hours a week to teach a lab. Otherwise they are at home writing or relaxing. A lot of their experiments are long-term designs (sampling for 50 hours at a time, or at points 200 hours).

RE3 with another minimalist score would be even more of a misfire. That game is just completely ill-suited for such an approach.

The lowest speed of walking on analog stick is more or less silent and allows for sneaking past lickers. You might want to try holding the aim button since that reduces your speed as well- may be enough to get you under the noise threshold on M/KB.

I agree, going through the City without City of Ruin will be a crime

Hideki Kamiya seems to be jumping into the RE2Remake craze

Left to right -> Kazunori Kadoi (director), Hideki Kamiya (director of the original), Anpo Yasuhiro (director)

Just got through that part and I really did not like it.

There were like 6 new lickers and seemingly 2 dozen new zombies, then at the end in the prison they make you run down a hallway absolutely packed with them with him right on your ass. There is no skillful way through that so it's really dumb to me. It also ruins your chances to carefully look around for secret items you have already confirmed to exist around the station because you have to constantly be on the move with him chasing you and can't take the time to kill anything to make room to look. It was also stupid how you were forced to fight and kill the dogs because they follow you through all the lower rooms. Now I'm trying to solve a puzzle with Ada where there seems to be no path around and it's annoying to try and visually parse out the obtuse room in the dark when I have to try and run around 4-5 zombies at the same time.

It's all a bunch of forced things so I think on Claire's I might play on easy just to tone down the obnoxiousness.

I've taken days off to play games before, what's wrong with that? I have a good job and it's only a few days a year if that, don't really see what the problem is?
Ive got your back!

I took a week off just now because of RE2, but most important because of KH3. The hype is real for that one.

Theres nothing wrong with that honestly. If its something you like doing and you are having fun than its ok.

Finally played for the first time the actual game.

First impressions:
1) Game's not scary for me, but it's tense and has me on edge most of the time. The atmosphere is very well done.
2) I got the impression that I reached the RPD even faster than I did on the original game (not sure how that happened).
3) Combat feels great - tense and rewarding once you shoot down a foe - even though it might be temporary.
4) Got killed by the first licker - attempted to shotgun him, but he quickly KOed me (though I think I missed most of my shots).
5) I really enjoyed my time so far - taking it slow and soaking the experience.

I think I like it more than REVII - it's so nice to actually enjoy RE games instead of simply going through the motions because I REMEMBERED liking them. Don't think I can play RE5 and 6 ever again.

I’m doing Leon A on Hardcore for my first run. I finally beat Birkin and made it back to the station with the diamond key. I’ve got like three full heals, a small amount of ammo and one ink ribbon left. Shit is tense.

Man this game is TOUGH. They've really managed to make zombies difficult.

Also, the dread of doing this alone is strong, whenever Ada shows up I'm so happy to not be alone....then she leaves

One negative I have with the game.

Decided to swap soundtracks. Very disappointed with the results. The RPD seems to lack the 1st floor / 2nd floor background theme. So far the only recognizable tunes I've heard where the classic main hall (where you meet Marvin) and the title screen. Very, very disappointed. There's minimum music in the game even WITH the Original's soundtrack.

Need to check out the library, but I'm guessing it must have that track, right?

... Right?

I'm confused, so you mean that not all the music is there with the OST swap? And it don't play for long?

I haven't played the entire game to give you a solid answer, but so far I've skimmed through the 1st and 2nd floors and so far only the main hall has the original theme (which plays as long as you're there). All the corridors and rooms I've walked through so far have zero music. In fact, even in Original OST mode, when you encounter zombies the same humming ambience sound of the remake's soundtrack commences.

Just to be clear, I've switched soundtracks after encountering a licker for the first time, then just ran through multiple halls and corridors. Zero music.
Haven't visited the library (but I'm pretty sure it's going to have the original theme because it's one of the few rooms which is large and doesn't branch out into corridors).
Same goes for save rooms (i.e. film development room) - didn't go there yet with original OST.

Ok, just verified it - both the library and the dark room play their original themes. But that's 3 out of ... what, 20 rooms so far? Pretty meh, to be honest.

The library theme is definitely there with the classic soundtrack. The basement theme was also in, it reminds me of Silent Hill. The dark office room with the police guy lying at the desk also had the classic RE2 spooky music.

It's shocking they didn't put the classic soundtrack in by default. It adds some much needed atmosphere. Horror movies are all about using music to build atmosphere, so I don't know who's bright idea it was to cut the soundtrack completely. Probably some higher up trying to milk more money from people.

I've only played about 20 mins so far , I'm waiting for later as my room is bright as hell during the day , and so far it looks amazing and feels amazing especially with everything cranked up. As someone else said in another thread the Vram counter in the menu seems to be busted. Afterburner is telling me I'm using quite a bit less than what the game says I'm using .

OK, this is really weird.

I started a new game as Claire, and now I get to hear the 1st floor original theme once Claire crawls into the non-powered metal door in order to find Elliot.

It's 2019 and another AAA release ignores the Southpaw option.

At this rate, people with real handicaps will get more consideration in the the video game industry than people with left-handedness.

Really enjoying hardcore mode, everything is dangerous as fuck but it feels good. I'm like 3 hours in and haven't died yet but definitely got close a couple times.

I'm about 2 hours in in Standard and game is not easy at all, have died once. Will reserve Hardcore for 3rd and 4th runs.

It takes around 9 bullets to kill just one zombie, but if you shoot 2/3 times into it's knee and zombie is on the ground already then you can use the knife and kill it very easily. The knife is extremely useful in remake unlike original RE2.

Same - a licker got me easily on standard. I shudder to think how I'll fare on Hardcore. Though I admit I am tempted to try the ink ribbon system ...

The ink ribbons are great, do they just not exist in lower difficulties? Weird choice by the devs.
