That's amazing. Never had any hope for the movie, now I'm looking forward to it being so bad it's fun on a Dragon Ball evolution tier

Why does every Hollywood adaption of a cartoon have to make the characters so freakishly realistic? Seriously, was the official designs not good enough, you have to make them uglier for no reason? I'm not a huge fan of Detective Pikachu's designs, but they at least look faithful to the official art of the games. I would've been interested in this movie if it was just the official Sonic design, just rendered with the live action actors, now I just want to stay as far away as possible. Fuck Hollywood.

I can picture an AWS/Azure ad in the future where they boast "how we helped DeviantArt successfully scale to cover the release of a live action Sonic the Hedgehog movie"

This is going to suck badly. Sonic needs to be taken from Sega at this point...they don’t deserve him. Lease him to Nintendo for the next 10 years...
Holy shit i just hope this will be a "So bad it's good" type of movie, as i don't think this will be even mediocre.
This is going to be a beautiful train wreck.

I think the suckiness of this has pretty much been a given since it was first announced as a live action film. This horrific reveal has given me hope that it will indeed cross over to "so bad it's good" territory.

Wasn't the Sonic Boom TV series generally very well received? It's a shame they didn't go for a Pixar-like CGI movie, it could actually have been pretty good.

Oh shit, I just remembered that there have been rumours of a new Sonic game to tie in with the movie. I can't even begin to imagine what a monstrosity that would be. Please Sega, no!

I actually think that it could work
They would have to embrace the weirdness and go all in
Make it body horror movie :messenger_dizzy:

Honestly I have a feeling it will disappoint just like DBE did for me. It took itself too seriously to really laugh at, it was just an awful experience all around...

Somehow Sonic went from my favorite franchise tied with Zelda, to now where I just want Sonic to go away already.

Sonic Mania was a nice way to get the old experience on a new TV, I feel like I'm satisfied with that and ready to move on.

Serious question but do you think that given nearly everybody is united in this thing being awful looking (not just here but Twitter, other forums and even some newspapers lol) that they may just change his design? It’s happened before.

I mean all they had to do was do the same sort of look as he was I wreck it Ralph, but with a realistic texture if they had to. Hell im a classic>current guy but I would have took that over... this...

Actually Sony had the rights to this before Paramount, and while a Sony animated film might not sound too good given the Emoji Movie (they've done other animated films, some of which are better, but oof that one was BAD) but just look at the amount of style and unique look their Spider-man: Into the Spider-verse film has. Sonic getting an animated film with a slick look (not necessarily Spider-verse's look, but something interesting, but heck even a traditional 3D animation style would be fine) could have been awesome, but alas we're left with this abomination that not even Lovecraft could love.

Another poster has been found. Something about Sonic having human-ish proportions just looks so damn wrong. I'm watching Sonic Boom now and that Sonic looks perfectly fine as a 3d representation of him.
This film is going to be weird and bad, but maybe bad in a good way.

For some reason, all I can think about is that Sonic currently has his nuts on the Golden Gate bridge

So Sonic the Hedgehog is really a Grover from Sesame Street origin story? I mean, Grover vibes are what I’m getting from these posters showing all this fur.

Please let him be a waiter in a restaurant.

The lightning on his shoes - does this indicate the story is gonna be that they are magic shoes?

I'm genuinely disturbed. The fanart of how he will likely look. The legs on the bridge. It's the stuff of nightmares.

That said, I like the new logo.

I think I figured it out! This movie is going to be an homage to the origin story comic.

Instead of Sonic being a green (light brown?) Hedgehog who turns blue because speed force or something, it's a human who turns into a blue nudist streaking faster than the speed of sound.
