I'm coming up to what I assume to be the last stretch of the game, gathering my thoughts a bit since I'm away from my ps4 at the moment.

Love the game, its potentially my GOTY. But I would say I enjoyed P4 more, which is kind of baffling to me since P5 is undeniably more ambitious and the better overall game. It's something I've been struggling to come to terms with as I was playing through P5.

If I had to pin down a reason, it would be because the weaknesses of the Persona team's writing is a lot more noticible in 5 than 4. Both games have their fair share of questionable writing but since P4's tone is rather light it's easy to ignore and even derive enjoyment from some of it's dumber moments. P5 on the otherhand is far more heavy, which in turn makes it's dumb moments 10 times more aggravating and at times insulting. Now I'm not saying it's wrong for P5 to have its silly moments, I expected it to be silly at times due to its campy presentation and was perfectly on board for that. However there's a fine line between being campy and being stupid; and I feel like P5 was on the wrong side far too often for my liking.

What was the point of that one scene when you first go to Shinjuku? You know the one. It was awkward as hell.

The main part of that situation that was odd to me was MC letting
them kidnap poor Ryugi and just strolling away like it was perfectly normal.

What is the best way to level up kindness and proficiency?
I think I'm doing good in all my other stats but I'm having a really hard time leveling up those two.

Flower shop everyday after school for kindness and for proficiency make tools and read books.

I had the exact reaction. Was
waiting for the twist. Never came.

Proficiency gets levelled well if you make tools.

Kindness if you take a job at the florist, eat the meal at the diner when you study, certain movies, books, etc...

Not sure about the absolute best ways for each though.

Question to someone that completed the game or knows already: That Scumbag
Shido
is the one with the black mask, triggering the
mental shutdowns
and also the mastermind the
SIU Director is always talking to on the phone
-right?

I feel that way from the first hours of the game, I wonder why it's so clear who the baddy is this time around, in P4 it was much more of a surprise back then...

Thanks for the tips everyone, much appreciated.

Do they automatically get downed when you hit them with an attach they are weak to, or is there something else to downing enemies?

Hit with what they're weak to and they go down.

For enemies that have no weakness use status spells like sleep or forget etc... Making a powerful enemy with no weakness forget is a really good way to mitigate damage and deal more to the enemy.

This is also why upgrading your guns is mostly pointless as any enemy that's weak to them will almost always go down in one shot.

The way this game depicts homosexuals and some women (confident) is seriously off-putting.

Yes. The scene with the maid and the one mentioned above are both incredibly backwards and quite gross.

It's weird, because the game seems to go out of its way to be progressive at other times.

If you know that much then you probably know how the net is cast and which characters play what roles.

it's possible to be progressive on some issues and regressive on others... not to mention the cultural creative aspects of it.

I'm still surprised the translation department rolled with it. I wonder if there was any drama internally about them - there's no way a competent team could have been ignorant of how it would be received...

Are there any Confidants worth skipping? I was gonna pass over Tower to rank up the rest but then I remembered that's where you get Yoshitsune.

So far I've really been neglecting Sun, Devil and Hanged Man.

Sun and Tower are two of the most worth it ones to level up.

Yeah, the writing is just incostincense in some areas.

It's like the script is written by more than one person.

Ignore devil and hanged man, but do complete sun. His perk is superb.

Palace 6 question

Does the deadline work the same as past ones? I intend to complete the palace in one go, will that push me to November and unleash the events from the prologue or can you still play after securing the route to the treasure?

For palace 6, the game
won't let you send the calling card until the last possible day
.

It will have you wait to deliver the calling card.

Of course, and I understand the culture difference, it's just a /very/ jarring thing to go from a game that seems to be very progressive 90% of the time to this weird, slightly disgusting scene where the characters seem to forget their character.

That maid scene in particular was really weird. I hated the way the MC responded to Mishima's immaturity.

Can the translation team change things like this? Do they tend to have a say when it come to localisation issues that might arise?

Atlus seems to be quite sensitive to how their game will be seen by the west with their slightly bizzare insistence to force VA to pronounce certain surnames (didn't they do this to appeal more to the west somehow?), so if the team did bring this up I'd imagine they would have been receptive right?

I feel you and totally agree, that's why I strongly recommend you doing Sojiro and Futaba S-link because they're done well like Nanako and her father.

i actually didn't find that much wrong with the maid scene... it's all the Beefy Trendsetter stuff that really irks me. It's so... garbage.
