The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind expansion announced

Should I get the Gold edition on PC for $25? I need something to play.
Where's the gold edition going for 25 bucks? I'm giving them a bit longer to follow up on my ticket, and even though I shouldn't buy it out of principle at this point, my friend really wants me to play.

Just picked up the Gold edition for PS4 with some spare trade in credit I had. Is GAF still active on PS4? I remember we were on Xbox but I don't have access to that version anymore.

Replied to your PMs. Check the Buy/Sell/Trade thread! If you guys hop on PC, PM me in-game IDs so we can quest together!

I hope this exposes ESO to a lot of new players. It really is a phenomenal game that has a very fair monetization model.

Picked up ESO Gold Edition (Xbone) on Black Friday for $20 from Amazon. Then price matched another copy from Best Buy for my fiancé. We've yet to open her copy and I haven't played yet myself, but I'm looking forward to checking it out.

Quick PSA for any other newcomers: I had a somewhat negative experience getting the Gold Edition DLC to actually work. Long story short, it turns out it's a somewhat common problem for the console Gold Edition DLC codes to pop up with an error message that says, "This code has been deactivated." After a few minutes of "WTF?" googling it became clear this is a problem that Bethesda/Zenimax knows exists but are full on ignoring it and passing the buck. Their customer service is useless and basically informs the end user to go get fucked. The only solution was to return/exchange for another copy. Not exactly convenient or customer friendly. It appears this problem hit Amazon's allotment particularly hard, tho it may be a problem that effects copies from Best Buy and others as well. I plan to crack open my fiancé's Best Buy copy soon to check the DLC before my Elite+ return period expires on the 14th. Incidentally, it looks like Amazon no longer carries the Gold Edition at all (only individual sellers), which I'm guessing is related to this issue.

At any rate, I'm still excited to check the game out...but figured I'd give others the heads up to make sure you input the DLC code right away to verify. Even if the game has evolved into something pretty solid, the company behind it appears to not give a shit about its customers, so customer service may be nonexistent if u have any problems.

With that in mind, I'll probably check out the Morrowind chapter when it's also *heavily* discounted ($20 or less). This just left too much of a bad taste in my mouth to support them beyond the bare minimum to play the game.

I ended up getting the base copy of the game after I got a refund for the Morrowind full edition. I'm pretty happy with the game. It actually feels like a multiplayer elder scrolls.

My friend wants to murder me because I steal everything not bolted to the ground. And read every note. And talk to every npc. Are there any permanent in game consequences for being a kleptomaniac? Or accidentally killing an npc?

Nope. Just fines if you are trying to avoid arrest and losing items you've stolen. Every major city has a thieves den where you can sell stolen goods, pay off bounties and was dirty items.

Just a heads up for those who already own ESO and are upgrading to the collector's edition of Morrowind: It's $65 for digital but if you have Amazon Prime you can get the physical CE for only $15 more at $80. Pretty good deal.

edit: Also, Super Bowl commercial which only played during pre-game: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aZVFlq57UuI. Lack of that Morrowind theme at the end was a total fail.

I remember glancing the trailer for a bit and originally thought "holy shit Morrowind remaster!?"

Then I see that online part in the title...damn it.

Did they say how many crowns this will be?

I was fucking duped into buying the gold edition that came with some credits on psn a week before they put up the non credit bundle gold edition.

That means I'm sitting on 6000 credits which I have to imagine is enough.

Cannot be purchased with Crowns, go gamble on some Storm Crates

I'm a bit overwhelmed with the skill ups. I ended up going Templar because I liked the idea of running around in full plate nuking things at range like your typical mage in other games. Is this a viable way to play as I get closer to the endgame for pve and pvp?

Typically if you're going to be playing magicka based DPS you'll eventually end up in a set of primarily light armor, but you want to get all skills to 50, so just wear whatever for now. Heavy armor definitely makes you much more survivable for soloing, so it's not hurting you now, but if you stick to a DPS role you're going to want to ditch it later. The only downside while soloing is that it will take you longer to kill stuff, but solo content in the game isn't hard enough for that to matter.

I dunno how much you've read about the game but the class you pick does not determine the roles you can play. Every class can be run as tank, healer or DPS depending on how they're outfitted and skilled up. Like any good Elder Scrolls game it's very open to player preference and customizable. All the class does basically is give you access to 3 of the main skill trees which basically determines the "flavor" of your character (DK = fire and earth, Templar = holy and light, Sorcerer = lightning + daedric summons, Nightblade = stealth and siphoning/blood magick)

If you don't feel like studying just to play the game just fuck around and do whatever. You can't really mess up since a respec is just a handful of coins away (don't worry about this until you're level 50 with 160+ champion points however). Just kinda go with the flow and try everything out.

One major tip that most ESO vets will tell you tho is if you have ANY interest in crafting at all, make sure you A. deconstruct all junk loot you obtain (including enchanting glyphs) to level up your skills, and B. start researching armor and weapon traits ASAP, as that takes nearly a full year of real life time in order to max out. You only need to do that on one character. Or you can skip crafting altogether and pay people in game to do it for you, but it'll still be valuable to be able to do things like improve your own gear with tempers later in the game. I recommend running at least one crafter in this game as it doesn't require any actual tedious grinding (other than trait research, which is passive).

This morning the highly anticipated Homestead player housing update just released as a free update for all players. Just one of the many massive free updates they've pushed on the game in the last years that adds massive functionality and helps make the game just feel awesome to hang out in (that didn't sound as shilly as I was typing it).

Anyways, I put a horse in my new inn room.

I've saved up about a half a million coins to get myself a nice house, but since the Morrowind announcement I've been considering just slumming it in the free in room and saving up even more coins for a mansion on Vvardenfell. Fingers crossed that I can buy a giant mushroom house. I'll pay any amount for it.

I was interested in checking this out until I read that the game now has level scaling...

No thanks.

It's the single best improvement to the game since it launched. It removed all level and faction restrictions to PVE content so you can play the game with all your friends at all times and opened the entire world up for exploration instead of being a linear themepark.

Still trying to get my account back. I was banned for unknown reasons and the email address tied to my account was my old ISP address that is no longer active and I was unable to change it due to the banning. If I ever get my account back I would be interested in this. Otherwise not buying the game again, I already bought it on PC and then again on PS4, sadly both accounts are tied together and both banned ffs.

Yup, level scaling actually WORKS in this game. Some areas are still tougher than others, but you can actually do stuff in those.

It is so NICE to be able to wander all over the world without stupid level gated stuff.

And one can skip awful areas, like those damn elves. Disgusting creatures, except wood elves. Those are fun.

Being a Nightblade is harder nowadays when you can't just outlevel harder foes, needs lot more skill to fight. At least my configuration, I went all in for sneak and stuff so my combat potential isn't maxed...

Give us Morrowind remake ! Not this.....

tons of stupid grinding, copy-paste missions....

1. A Morrowind remake is likely never going to happen.

2. This isn't even the same developer of the single player Elder Scrolls games

3. I would much rather Bethesda's (the actual Elder Scrolls developer) resources spent on the next chapter in the series and not revisiting something that was done before and is still great, not to mention playable.

I'm curious what missions you played that you considered copy-paste however. I've played thru all 3 factions and don't remember (m)any repeating quests, other than quests that are specifically repeatable, ie. for factions, pledged, etc.

Also I guess I'm curious what type of grinding you did. Simply playing the game is enough to level you and your skills up. Unless you're talking about grinding for specific gear drops late game, in which case, yeah I sympathize with that. Looking for specific dropped traits can be a bit of a hassle, but honestly the search for the perfect loot is the best reason to keep playing games like this, aside from the social interaction.

This sounds like a nightmare. You'd definitely need to call them directly for that kind of thing and I dunno what kind of verification they use for account recovery.

From what I hear about the console versions of the game, they aren't tied to a specific account (ie. they can be bought and sold used, unlike the PC version which is registered to your account), so you could probably just start a fresh account and play it on the console still. Would suck losing your progress and whatever crown store, ESO+ purchases you made however. I haven't tried on a console so take that with a grain of salt, but it might be worth looking into.

That's exactly what I'm doing. Free inn room for now and saving for a nice house in Vvardenfell.

Thanks, that was all super helpful. I started deconstructing everything because I'm a crazy hoarder, which isn't working out so well. I'll continue enjoying sneaking around in heavy plate armor stealing everything in sight for now, and will follow your advice when I'm a higher level.

Kinda silly and fanservicy that the census office looks identical in ESO as it does in Morrowind, given the 700 year time gap between them haha.

Hopefully this asshole doesn't show up or else I'm gonna have a legitimate beef.

I haven't played since the introduction of Imperial city so help me understand a few things.

Veteran levels are gone, what's in its place? I think each gear has a champion level now? Basically iLVL from wow? How do you get better gear now from end game?

Do any of those questions really matter with the level scale? Why bother trying to get higher level gear if it all scales to my current level any way? Where's the sense of accomplishment? What is the end game look like at this point?

I think the only complaint I have against scaling is the world/Area bosses for each zone seem Way tougher. Not sure if they scale to the highest person attacking it or what. Maybe I just got too used to soloing a few, to where I didn't expect to all of a sudden need 5 or 6 people to take one down.

Is the Grouping function for PS4 Finally working? Still Always have trouble using the tool to PUG into dungeons.

Champion points are a replacement to veteran levels. Your account shares a champion point level which is basically points you can spend in 9 different skill trees on any character you have leveled up 50.

Gear does not scale to your level, but as you level up any new gear you get as loot will be of your level, so you're constantly getting appropriate gear for the character you're playing.

CP is basically like iLVL as it relates to gear, but not to your skill trees. The highest level gear currently goes in the game is CP 160. The highest possible CP you can spend on your account is 561 (actually I think the last patch may have upped it to an even 600).

As for the end game, I don't know how it compares to back when Veteran levels existed because I did very little of it back in those days. End game is split up between Veteran 4-man dungeons and Veteran 12-man trials which are basically raids.

Most of the point of gear acquisition late game is waiting for RNG to bless you with equipment with a particular trait on it so you can get full BIS depending on your role and what you're doing (PvE or PvP).

WBs should have always been as tough as they are now. Most of them CAN still be soloed if you're cp160 and have pretty good gear, which is the way it should be. 5 or 6 is a bit of an exaggeration tho. Excepting the ones in the DLC zones, which are insanely difficult, most of them can be killed comfortably by 2 people.
