I'm not a fan of subscription services where ownership is only temporary. However, I admit that buying a one-month subscription and catching up on everything would probably be the most cost-effective plan, so I'll consider it. If I were an avid comics reader, Marvel Unlimited Annual Plus plan would probably be appealing for the 15% off discount, but I don't think I read enough to make back the $99.

It's being rewritten by the guy who wrote the newest attempt at King Arthur (Not The Once & Future King/10 tbh), so it's going to be awhile yet.
Pretty much why they want Batman ready to start asap because if it isn't they only have Aquaman next year.

Been working my way through a bunch of stuff on Marvel Unlimited. What are some "required reading" events or runs that don't require bouncing between five books just to keep up with the plot?
Spider-verse and Original Sin were good for this to me. AvX and Fear Itself, not so much.

there really isn't a bad DD run. just start at Miller.
BP startat priest or fuck that noise and start on coates.

For Daredevil you have quite a few choices. I would recommend reading through Frank Miller's run which is still one of the best runs Marvel has published. If you are able to, also try to track down Elektra Assassin and Elektra Lives Again as they aren't on Marvel Unlimited. Beyond that, I would recommend Bendis's run along with Waid's run which are both also great.
I'm not really into BP, but Priest's run is the main one to read. The current run by Coates is supposed to be quite good as well.
And while they're not about those characters, I would also recommend reading:
X-Statix (this is including the X-Force run by the same creative team)

Starting to see more and more Mavel books at work. In the last couple of days I've seen hardcover Vol 1's of ANAD Avengers, Vision, Squirrel Girl, Moon Girl, Ms Marvel, Silk, and Spider-Gwen. Hope to see ANAD Wolverine and Spiderwoman soon.
Brubaker's run is awesome among all of the other classics. You'll want to read Bendis' excellent run before Bru though, since the latter ties in with that one.
I recently read another Image book Luna (and his brother) was on, Girls.
It was...a comic. @_@

I liked Alex + Ada, though the ending felt rushed.
Girls was weird. The Sword was a better book as Luna brothers comics go.
Does Ann Nocenti's name on that not cause you to grit your teeth just a bit?
Also, why are the horses wearing gas masks, but the riders not?

Its part of the appeal.
All of it. It makes no fucking sense and it is the best thing. God I miss Queen Nocenti's Catwoman. Oh and Catwoman is actually wearing a gasmask. The other girl is the queen of the underground and is made of fire or some shit.
I see the gas mask now. That's the most transparent gas mask I've ever seen. The horses must be jealous.
Style over substance but it is a nice change of pace.
