Hey all, I was wondering if anyone had anything to suggest for a first time
in nearly 10 years
PC gamer. I'm looking for some free stuff to play to hold me over for a couple of weeks until the holidays roll around.

Here are the specs if anyone wants/needs to know to suggest things for me:
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700 CPU @ 3.40GHz
16GB GDDR4
GeForce GTX 1060 6GB
Windows 10 64-bit
~675GB available out of a 1TB Western Digital HDD
Let me know if you need more info I guess?

So, what do you think? I'm definitely a shooter fan, but I'm open to just about anything. Thanks!

I know you said free but I'd suggest the current Humble Bundle.

Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon is free on Uplay currently. Even if you already played it will be a decent example of the average monsterous upgrade you'll usually have in store for last gen games if you decide to revisit any.

Perhaps Origin Access for an easy 5 dollars access to a bunch of games, and trials to stress your computer like BF1.

free? how about planetside 2? I know I played a hell of a lot of that until I got bored.

E: Oh yeah, the UT4 alpha is good too.

I think this will be much easier if you posted games you've already played so that we can provide you a non-redundant recommendation.

Thanks for all the suggestions so far dudes! I have Gears 4, haven't started it yet, and SWTOR. I'm also about half way through Portal 1, and I've messed with Team Fortress 2 a bit, but it's just not quite my thing.

You cantry out that Paladins game. Its basically a free Overwatch.
That said, if you didnt like TF2, you probably wont like these games either. They are all in the same vein

Maplestory is what's up on PC. On a seriously a note, try Heroes of the Storm. I think that's free. The matches are nice short and full of action.

Get og skyrim and deck that bad boy out with mods... when you can afford it, obviously didn't read the OP fully :B

Isn't Eve Online free now? Elder Scrolls Online recently had a free trial too but don't know when it ended.

You NEED to try out the new DOOM with that rig. It should look amazing and run like butter.

edit - Seconding Titanfall 2 as well

Shooter fan eh? Well that makes things easy.

Battlefield 1 (Origin)
Overwatch (Battle.net)
Titanfall 2 (Origin)
DOOM (Steam)
Gears of War 4 (Windows Store)
Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare (Steam)

Search those up and buy the one that appeals to you the most. Your PC will be able to max those games out easily.

Lots of good indie games out there like Undertale, Renowned Explorers, Transistor, etc. Just exploring Steam will yield great results (and deals) here. Also look out for Humble Bundles, which are often excellent deals.

Pillars of Eternity is great if you are into iso RPGs.

Shooter fan? I would suggest Superhot if you've not played it yet. It's super hot.

For F2P shooters, try out Warframe (3rd person space shooter with extreme parkour mechanics) or Paladins (Champions based objective game- think Overwatch or Team Fortress 2).

I also had a lot of fun in World of Tanks, but that's a little slower than more other shooters, but is still a lot of fun.

Free? Team Fortress 2.

After you've got a bit of cash, make sure you've covered the basics:

Grand Theft Auto III
Grand Theft Auto IV
Grand Theft Auto V
Half-Life
Halo: Combat Evolved
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3

...for starters.

Nice PC you got there. While things won't be free there should be a steam sale kicking off any day now. You'll find tons of stuff on the cheap.

And I'll vouch for DOOM! Awesome game! Get Wolfenstein the new order asap as well!

its hardly the perttiest game,
but i would recommend F.E.A.R for that juicy juicy gunplay.
not free but im pretty sure the game is really cheap on steam.

seriously i cant think of any other game with shoot outs that every felt so good.

also yeah, DOOM, its beautiful and buckets of fun.

gave away the keys to the kingdom.
Keep in mind that Steam's Autumn Sale begins on Wednesday. I'd hold off on buying anything that isn't already discounted.

It looks like you like Doom from your avi. And the new Doom is amazing on PC. I am waiting until I get an ultrawide monitor so that I can finish it. That and Wolfenstein are so good on my PC. I think they will make you very happy.
