wonder if they made iron tail good this gen

the way they push it in the anime you'd think it was some super awesome move

But Iron Tail is good, 100 base power plus the chance of lowering the target's Defense stat by one stage.

The only draw back that Iron Tail has is that it has a 75% accuracy.

Is this the first time you can see your character in the middle of a battle scene?

The bottom screen is showing the moveset so it looks to be mid-battle and not at the start when you throw the pokemon out
(Talking about the Serebii images on twitter)

Have had a break from pretty much all games recently so my memory is pretty fuzzy on past battle scenes

I have a pikachu with iron tail. Good move but can miss too much for my liking. Thank you move tutor. The

Curious to see what the base stats for ash grennnja are and if there is data on the evos for pikapek and salandit.

Yep it's the first time. Something I've wanted for so long I forgot about it when they revealed it

It is the first time yes. Although I think the two Console Pokemon RPG games for the Gamecube also had this, if I recall correctly.

First time in a handheld mainline Pokémon game yeah, the two Gamecube RPGs had it. Long overdue for the mainline I'd say.

Edit: Beaten. :(

What about putting that item on that increases accuracy?

I think its goggles or something. (sorry)

Cut's presumably no longer an HM so I could see a buff---maybe a Normal-type variant of Aerial Ace now?

yeah, all dogs are wolves, but foxes aren't

so that's why the chinese fire starter is bullshit, ammy can rep the dog but not delphox, and typhlosion isn't a rat (that was early gen translation stupidity)

Asians swap the zodiac rabbit with the cat non-chalantly. I think we can substitute a dog with a fox

that's the first time I've heard of it

Also it doesn't make sense, considering that the cat not being in the zodiac is an actual plot point of the lore

the ones I know that are swapped are cow/ox and sheep/goat, and they're mostly due to similar letters

Apologies. I've got that out of my system now so you don't have to worry about a repeat :p

Just curious but did anyone post about the music that's apparently been mined from the demo? The12thGripper apparently found UB-02 Expansion's battle theme:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8TzOzYPs0_k

edit: I'm an idiot and this is fake: it's just zinogre's theme from monster hunter -.-
LOL

I didn't expect someone to post this here, but yeah it's fake, sorry. I don't know where you saw me leak something though because I'm not a leaker.

Gamexplain said that they got TMs, but they never got HMs, so that could have been a mistake on DigitalSpy's part, especially since no other preview seems to mention HMs.

Work Up is probably coming back as a TM.

RE: Iron Tail, it has an expected power of 75. Lowering defense by one stage with a 30% chance means that the expected power of the move over two turns is still only 79.2. That's... really not good. And we don't even deal with expected power in Pokemon because we're probably not risk neutral, we're risk averse, so the actual utility of the move is even lower than that - as an example, more people use Flamethrower than Fire Blast even though the expected damage of Fire Blast is higher.

I just investigated! Some zodiacs use the cat instead of the rabbit. Vietnamese zodiac is one, according to Wikipedia

I've been playing VoltWhite lately and they changed Cut to a Grass-type 80 power move and it's #sogood. Not that I particularly expect any moves to change types outside of when brand new types are added.

This. Work Up becoming an HM is so nonsensical I would have expected more reports on it if it were true.

Yes and no. We know that the first HM you get is Bulk Up so it seems that TMs have been renamed to HMs and what used to be HMs have become the abilities of the various ride Pokemon.
GameXplain confirmed that as a misunderstanding of another outlet.

75 is too low to be good just for a 100 damage imo

Yeah, it's one of the draw back and reflect when Iron tail existed as all damaging steel type move in gen 2 didn't have 100% accuracy and wouldn't get one till gen 4.

Iron Head is much more reliable, it's like Thunderbolt vs Thunder.

Oh agreed but Iron Tail isn't so bad for in-game team.

I think its goggles or something. (sorry)

Wide Lens increase it by 10% and Zoom Lens increases it by 20% but the Pokémon has to be slow.

Hmmm... will ash-greninja be tradeable and is it likely that there are people who'd want it that didn't play the demo that'd be willing to trade something nice for it? If so, then I've found a great reason to play the demo even if they do limit us to AG and Pikachu :p

Yeah, with how hammered the servers are going to be tomorrow, you'll be able to preload it so you can play on Wednesday.
No.
That's what I was hoping to avoid. Don't know why I thought it might be there.

Will probably be the biggest 3DS demo (in terms of downloads) since Smash.

I remember when Diamond and Pearl started leaking within the first few hours we had complete stats ripped, but no names or images so people were guessing at the Pokemon---though many quickly figured out which Pokemon were evolutions of the classics.

Interesting if Sun and Moon's demo has been scrubbed so there's no names or images, but we still have leaked data with stats and such and then we have another month of guessing what kind of Pokemon each piece of data will actually be. If Alola variants have the same BST as the originals I imagine we'll quickly figure out those.

That was a fun time. I remember a few people trying to say Arceus was just a placeholder slot because "there's no way that they'd have a 720 BST Pokemon".

Random thought: Tropius was robbed.

Fun fact, Tropius and Tangela were the only non-Starter, non-Legendary Pokemon who were completely unobtainable in Diamond and Pearl without trading from a Gen III game. Every other Pokemon could be caught in Diamond and Pearl through some method, though to be fair some did require you to have a GBA game in the DS slot for them to appear like Gligar and Electabuzz.

Tropius got stuck with Flying instead of Dragon, was one of the two Pokemon accidentally missing from D/P, and ended up getting stuck with the terrible "I'm always flying" pose in Gen 6. Now it's not getting a mega and probably won't get an Alolan form because it already is one. Poor Tropius.

This is made weirder by Tangela getting an evolution in DP.

Just... what? Did they forget they added Tangrowth?

Diamond and Pearl was weird. As I pointed out other Pokemon with new evolutions were rather difficult to obtain, such as needing a Gen III cart in the DS slot to get Gligar (Emerald), Elekid (Fire Red), and Magby (Leaf Green) so it's not too surprising they made Tangela equally dumb to get despite a Pokemon who should've been promoted more.

Glad they seem to have learned from that and post-game New Pokemon are only Legendaries now.

Nope you couldn't, I'm not even sure any trainer had it for you to at least see it lol

Nah seeing all mons is required for National Dex so there should be a trainer who has that in DP, I know because I experienced the problem (forgot to encounter Tentacruel) lol

Man if Iron Tail gets bumped up with some accuracy to say like 85% I would be so happy!

Steelix's attack maxes out at 299 but with Sheer Force and a Life Orb and STAB on Iron Tail it would actually be pretty useful.

Freakin' Dragon Rush needs to go to Druddigon as well. I understand Dragon Rush on Sheer Force Druddigon would just obliterate things but the draw backs are that he is slow and the accuracy is bad. Still give it to me Game Freak or at the very least give him a new dragon move that does at least 80 damage with a chance for something to happen. Dragon Breath doesn't work with Druddigon.
