While not Vancouver, I can tell you here in the east some stores pay so little for retro despite their own markup. Not sure why.

Far better selling on eBay or GAF.

Buyers market and sellers market value them differently I guess. I saw this with A&C games when I traded in my PS2. This was a few years ago though.

Does anyone know when Nights of Azure went up for preorder on Amazon? I feel like I may have missed it during the last preorder frenzy. http://www.amazon.ca/Nights-of-Azure-PlayStation-4/dp/B017GY07L4/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1451537328&sr=1-1&keywords=nights+of+azure

It was after the pre-order promotion. I remember cause I was pissed about it lol.

FYI in Canada now service providers are required to unlock phones for a minimal fee. Last I checked with Telus its ~$35 unless you've been using the phone for a minimum of 3 months, then its free. Probably won't be AS cheap as online, but no dealing with some shady site having your CC info so...
If it's 35$ it seems reasonable. Only wondering cause I'm buying a phone outright from Telus but I'm not on Telus. Pretty sure they'd hike the price up in my case.

just go to Chinatown or something in your area and get it for like 10$

thats what I did in Toronto, and same as friends. haven't had any issues doing it that way or even online codes

It's $50 now. Price went up in July. If you're not with Telus you'd have to setup a prepaid account and put $50 on it which would require a sim to setup. Just easier to get a friend with an account to do it for you and save you the $15 for the SIM card.

Speaking of these, which has the better content?

Are both still locked to their respective ISP? I currently have CraveTV because my wife and I are burning through some of the content (HBO mostly) and it's only $4 a month.

I don't know if we can get Shomi, though, or if I'd want to. I guess I'll have to more seriously consider something once Clarkson/Hammond/May's new show comes out.

Both are now available without a cable subscription. Though it looks like Crave has been delayed now until the end of January.

Just be careful with who you go with that isn't someone like Rogers, etc for unlocking.

Some people get their phones locked again.

Best Buy trade-ins take so long :lol

nobody knows what the fuck they're doing. you have to get really lucky to find that one guy in the store who has experience.

Wow. You got a shit customer service. It will usually take 10 minutes at most.

It's crazy and it's every time. I may have to just not bother with that location.

It's retail. They aren't trained and there's always new people.

As someone who worked nine years in retail at a place that took trade-ins this isn't the excuse most of the time. Best Buy has a really shitty trade system. They have to look most of the stuff up manually and then they have to print out paperwork that needs to be signed in double and their system is really slow.

So both headsets arrived today. Seems like they went the cheap route with the packaging for the SEs.

If the staff don't know how to do it then it's training too isn't it?. When I traded something in a year or two ago the guy knew how to do it so it was like 5 minutes.

Are there restrictions on that unlocking stuff? I recall there was waiting times where you had to be with the service for a few months but I don't know if that's still around. What about if you're not even with the service? For example if I got a new phone on craigslist, and it was on Telus but I'm on Rogers, could I go to Telus and get them to unlock it or would they give me grief for not being a customer?

If you're not their customer, I think you have to resort to third company to do it. And like I mentioned previously, you have to read up on who you're dealing with, just in case they've had previous customers complain that their phones were locked again after xx months.

Which iphone are you looking for? I think my sister was selling a 5s? She got it unlocked because someone wanted to buy it, then the fucker backed out. So she's out the $50 fido asked for. Only reason why I recommended her to do it, was just in case she went to some store or online, got it unlocked, then the buyer complains later on that it stopped working for him. Didn't want her to deal with shit like that.

I've unlocked phones without being customers of carriers. I unlocked a bell just a month or so ago and I'm not their customer. It was a phone I got off someone.

Yeah, I wasn't too sure about not being their customer. Or how much shit they give you about it lol.
depends on other stuff too I guess. If the phone was purchased subsidized by the original owner and their balance is not in good standing they usually won't let the phone get unlocked.

My Elite Controller wasn't supposed to be delivered until January 6th, but I just checked the tracking info and Canada Post has already delivered it to our community mailbox. They did so 4 hours ago, and I wish I would've known so that it wasn't sitting out in the cold.

Then again, it's 1 degree out there and the thing is wrapped in packing materials and in boxes. It should be okay.

TELUS does it over the phone as they charge the unlocking fee to an account. You have to have a prepaid account if you are not with TELUS and you can put $50 on it to pay for the unlocking fee. You'll need a TELUS sim to create the account and that's $15 now. That's the most trouble you'll have. You can also get a friend to do it for you who is with TELUS.

You only have to wait a time period when you're signing a new two year term and want to unlock that phone which is 90 days.

Man my closest Best Buy is the worst, it seems like half the time I use in-store reservation I get the confirmation email that it's on hold and then a call a few minutes later saying they don't actually have it...I think it hurts the store's numbers to not fulfill online reservations so they do this instead.

Speaking of these, which has the better content?

In terms of quality, CraveTV has the better content. It has all of the classic great HBO series, along with almost all of the Showtime shows and some other really classic stuff like Frasier, Cheers, Everybody Loves Raymond, etc.

In terms of quantity, Shomi has a boatload. They have been sniping up a lot of the movies and shows that Netflix licenses expire on, as well as making exclusivity deals with Amazon shows for here in Canada. They also have some CW shows streaming day-after-airing.

Shomi has opened up to everyone now, but they only have apps on Xbox 360 and Apple TV for the time being, and just keep saying to stay tuned for any more (though they work in your browser, too).
For CraveTV, they are opening up sometime in January, and they will supposedly have a good deal of apps ready to go (my guess on the January 1st to "just January" change is that they are getting more apps ready to go), but their $4/month plan for Bell customers might be more for non-Bell customers.

I currently have Shomi and I like it a lot, but they can be slow to add shows they mentioned they have the rights to, plus I wish it had an app for consoles rather than watching things through Rogers On Demand. I'm hoping to get CraveTV again (used to be with Bell) once it is open to all.

Too much information probably but yeah, I like TV, haha.

If you're feeling lonely during the new years, remember that Tim Horton's is standing there waiting for your embrace.

The price of Iced Capps went up from $1.80 to $2.20 :(
