Druckmann on Half-Life

This thread is going to become a 20-page beast over a silly tweet.

The Gameinformer article based off that tweet is hilarious.

"The Last Of Us Creative Director Neil Druckman Jokingly Requests The Half-Life License From Valve."

Half-life 1 is legit.

Half-life 2 is legit overhyped. Riddick released in the same year was a better fps campaign.
Halo 2 was a better package. FarCry beautifully open.

Wrong, playing last of us was the closest thing to HL3 when I was first playing it the first time + they got Alyx Vance already

How is it at all close to Half-Life in terms of actual gameplay? The story was good and Neil is good at what he does, but the storytelling in it doesn't fit Half-Life at all.

Sure. I'll take a meh Naughty Dog Half-Life game over no new Half-LIfe at all. Last of Us was already pretty Half-Life 2-ish.

It might even revitalize the Half Life modding scene.

Valve definitely still has the talent.

I don't think so. Portal 2 was the last show of it. What Valve excels at now is making online competitive games with smart micro-transaction systems.

Save this post if you want, if we get a story-driven single player Half-Life game from Valve by Oct 2017 (10 years since HL2: Ep2) I will literally eat my shorts. On video.

I mean, who knows how good or bad a Valve-made HL3 would be.

Half-Life 1 - great
Half-Life 2 - meh
Half-Life 3 - trash?

Patterns. I say go for it, GabeN. Give it to Drunkman.

I just want some closure after the last cliffhanger, I dont even need a game, just give me a comic, a short movie something. Naughty Dog would probably do an amazing story. Doesnt even have to be a "number" half life game, they could make a spin-off or something maybe?

They should make their own Half-Life. Give it a similar sciencey name (Dark Matter? Gravity Well?) and have the same onus on in-game storytelling as Half-Life, and I'm sure it'd do gang busters.

naughty dog does literally the opposite of what half life did, I don't understand why he'd want it and I wouldn't be interested in it

Yeah, if Valve isn't gonna do it.

Plus, it would have the best graphics on the market, bar none.

But it's not really their style.

But if Valve is "foolish" enough to make it now, it could never live up to the hype everyone has in their mind for it, even if it was as good as it could possibly be.

Also, Valve totally hasn't made a game at all like Half Life 1 & 2 in ages (thematically), I'm not sure they could again.

BUT, I would love it if anyone did it right. Resistance 3 came damn close.

He touched the black heart of a mod
ND could do it, they'd just have to turn their animation priority on the player character down to 0.
