COMICS! |OT| August 2015. Overwhelming.

Understatement of the century.

It's a fun book. It's not Babs it's Steph. Which is fine but they were meant to be writing Babs and it feels like a completely different person. Babs Tarrs art is amazing though
Yea. I love the steph batgirl run but I couldn't last more than two issues on the revamp. Seeing babs written that way drove me nuts. That isn't babs

Yall are gonna laugh when it turns out Batgirl is Babs but she was brain swapped by doc ock

Idk about which character has the most defining runs but I'd put Daredevils quality runs against that of any other character

Daredevil was the other one I was thinking of.

Like, seriously
You introduce a freaking mummified tetraplegic old lady as a character and in the span of 8 ishs i already wanna hug her. Arcunolla plz. Standards being set too freaking high.

Indeed.
As far as im concerned, Liefield ripping off Harley for Dick Slang: the book is proof she's a trash character.

At this point I'd be quite OK with Babs quitting as Steph Batgirl to go off and do actual Babs things (Be it closer to an Oracle role or closer to what has happened with past Robins) with Steph replacing her. The writing and characterization basically wouldn't need to change but the whole thing would feel way less weird. Especially since, while I like Steph, it seems silly to have two of her at once.

Every day. My last 20 or so books are on the floor because I don't have a new shelf yet.

You don't think about it much but when you have to move and you notice you got 6 boxes full of books it makes you wanna cut back and only buy the essential stuff that's really important.

I'm a little terrified of when I finally move. I've currently got like 10 full storage containers of books anyway, with the intent to fill at least 2 more very soon, and that's ignoring the huge amount of stuff I actually still have out, which may be a roughly similar amount. Plus all my dvds and figures and games and stuff...

As someone who's never read Batgirl before New 52 I really liked the softboot. The series before was too much like a bunch of the other Batfamily arcs. The early Batman & Robin, Nightwing, and Batgirl all felt the same in a lot of ways to me. The softboot finally gave the series its own identity and stopped focusing on grimdark like all the other Batman stuff seems to do.

Should have rebooted it as Steph then instead of aging Babs down

So I had been in a bit of a drawing funk recently. I decided to listen to Juvenile's Back That Ass Up on loop and it actually helped tremendously. Thanks Juvenile!

i'd imagine if they did that there would be people out there complaining that they've gotten rid of Babs and it'd possibly be even louder than the people complaining that they made her into Steph.

A person who hasn't read many comics could easily skew this as a sexism thing--they have a perfectly good female superhero but instead they force her to go back to when she wasn't a superhero anymore "for no good reason" and replaced her with someone who was already a superhero anyways.

Does that mean Oracle is less important than the superheroes?

The current Babs is kind of meaningless anyway as she is Babs in name only.

I blast this song as I'm rolling into work. My coworkers be looking at me like "Whhhaaaaaaat?"

A few quickies since I've been powering through some of my recent issues.
Archie #2 is good. Though I feel the anxiety creeping up on me for the eventual letdown of Archie and Betty's relationship.
Weirdworld #2. Love Del Mundo's art. That crystal guy is pretty wicked. Got #3 right here and will read it soon.
Harley Quinn/Power Girl #3. A little bit wordy on this issue but fun to read.
Squadron Sinister #1. It's aiight. A lot of potential betrayals here. Not sure if I'll follow month-to-month but will probably pick up the trade when it's collected.

And I'm getting excite for video games again! I have on preorder Xenoblade Chronicles X Special Edition, Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer Bundle and Star Wars Battlefront. I don't even remember the last time I preordered a game (maybe Pokemon X?) but the video game bug is hitting me. Just grabbed that Telltalegames' bundle off of Humble, mostly in it for Game of Thrones and Borderlands because I have everything else. Booted up Sound Shapes on my PS4 and had fun playing it with my son. Dabbled in DriveClub; fun game but what the hell is up with the menus? That shit's confusing.

Gameproff, this is for you.

I mean, i think you were the one complaining about "y gaf always sez dump n move on?". Could be someone else. Memory ain't what it used to be.
Saw this earlier and read all these stupid stuff about people who honestly beliefe pulling their dick out is a good way to make sure you dont get anyone pregnant and how everyone is screaming for abortion and wanted to post something, but told to myself "fuck it, GAF is a shit place when it comes to stuff like this" ¯_(ツ)_/¯

no but people bitched about that one variant cover they'd bitch about this too

we both know it's nothing remotely sexist but other people wouldn't want to believe that

Ugh, CMX is in its unhappy place right now. Not loading pages with the web viewer and downloading files at speeds that even hyper-early DSL would think were slow.

I'm looking to get into Marvel's Loki stuff. Is Agent of Asgard a good place to start or would I need to read Journey into Mystery first?

This happens me every single Wednesday.

Yeah, I've seen you mention it. Given how annoying this is now I can't even imagine dealing with it when you have brand new stuff coming out you're trying to read. Haven't personally had the Wednesday issue myself, but maybe that's because I tend to only get a chance to start on things late in the day then.

I have to download 25 issues most Wednesdays like this . takes me hours.

The last musou game I really got into that much was Dynasty Warriors Gundam 3. But they do get tedious, so I can only play one musou game out of every four or five that come out.

I don't know enough about the other musous to tell you if it's worth it, but if you're at all interested, I think knowing a good chunk of what happens in One Piece is a must. The story captures the best moments, but you miss a lot of what happens otherwise.

And, I mean, it's One Piece. I kind of fell out of love with it a few years ago because as I got older, the female character designs started irking me, but it's really fantastic otherwise.

I love how he has basically two character designs for Hot Girl: Nami with a Wig Of The Day aaaand that phantom girl. Much better variety when he tries to draw unattractive women, and then we get stuff like
and Big Mom, which are so wonderfully unusual.

OP is pretty good with female characterization as far as shounen manga go, tbh.

The Jenkins/Lee Inhumans series was pretty good. Very political and philosophical. And boy, Marvel is putting out these reprints with guides to other trades to major Inhuman story arcs?

Next up:
Which apparently is the predecessor to the run I just read. I'm all over the place when it comes to reading this, apparently.

Oda's designs pre-timeskip were still rather varied. Post-timeskip all of his female characters have the same style for the most part. I mean, Nico Robin looks super different. It's so homogenized that if they weren't wearing different outfits, I'd swear I'd forget who was who.

I miss the fact that Nami used to wear actual clothes. Now she just makes me uncomfortable. I miss the unusual female designs. Perona's is aight, at least it's different.

I think the proportions are even more ridiculous in the anime, but it's Toei so I guess it's to be expected.

Funny you should mention that. I saw Tashigi's post-timeskip design and didn't know it wasn't Robin until I played this game. lol
