EDIT: Those of you who don't attend tournaments would probably be very disappointed at how frequent this problem actually is.

I remember a "pissed" Tokido at Shadowloo Showdown. Lost the first match because he was using pre-patched Viola in SC5 lol.
They got to redo the first match after switching systems.

Another sucky thing is when people don't put the console with DLC characters on the stream station.

Is Fei Long washed up?

I feel he's still a solid character but.. really played out and has been nerfed consecutively. I think Fuudo should start looking for another solid character to pick up tbh.

Isn't he subbing Evil Ryu in the Topanga World League?

The last tournament I went to had a console that was on 1.03 for the duration of the event. I noticed it immediately when Elena's lynx tails didn't suck in.

S/O's to Vulva with that TECH
Isn't he subbing Evil Ryu in the Topanga World League?
Isn't everyone subbing Evil Ryu tho

I think he was doing it if Xian tried to counter with Elena again

Whenever I run something, I always check a million times that everything is updated. You could see me at KiT testing out BB consoles for 1.1. We had a wifi hotspot and asked everybody TO setting up stations to check for updates. I know at least on my end I checked every day -w-

Seems like a really basic thing that should be on the checklist when you set the consoles up. I'm not TOing majors though so maybe I don't know :v

I went to the last Arkansas Regional Knockouts, was in the first match on stream for Marvel top 8, and noticed right away that the stream station was unpatched, then got them to fix it. Got home, went to the archives, saw that the station was unpatched for the entirety of Saturday.

I was in the crowd for Marvel top 8 at CEO last year, and I ended up being the one to run up to the stage to let the players know that it was unpatched as soon as I noticed.

I bet more than 1 pools station for that game has been unpatched at every major I've been to.

It's so stupid. I've posted pretty detailed pictures on how to check for that shit in the staff discussions on majors that I've worked for, but people still don't bother.

GeoNeo

I disagree.

Console was updated to 1.04 but an Ultra disc was used by accident which caused the game to run 1.00. We're deeply sorry for the mistake.

So Kaz was rocking ver 1.00 Yun? LOL.

The runback for everyone was the right call. Like it or not.

For anyone who is confused by that tweet: disc USF4 and DLC USF4 (to be used with a Super/AE disc) count as separate games as far as patches are concerned, so they used the wrong disc.

I'm going to say something that probably comes off as mad rude, but TOing at fighting game majors on the whole is absolute amateur hour. It's like all volunteer based from what I've seen, and a lot of people work hard and mean well and are fine, but you're gonna get people who are just there to hang out, or are put onto a game they don't know to check these things on. A lot of the time you get really great people, but you need to value the people who can make sure these details are good, and put them in the spots to do so.

Again, most people are great and it's fine and all, and the TOs I've worked with have treated me great even if I can be an ass about things I don't agree with. Problem is there is just too much money, production, and investment from everybody involved to keep it like this. We've gotta really tighten it up some. I'd actually be really curious to see what procedures the UFGT/ComboBreaker guys have for set up and making sure things like this are good :x They get everything else right it seems.

Ouch, that's super rough. I can see how that slipped through the cracks :S I guess going to options and checking the update ver should just be on the checklist whenever you set up a station. Even if somebody tells you it's patched, which probably happened here, you should always double check :x

This is basically it, especially when events are severely understaffed in the first place and you have one dude running 4 pools at a time or whatever.

There just needs to be a checklist for this shit that's distributed to every staff member imo.

So, PR Rog stated that the matches played on-stream on Saturday were patched, because they were using his console which was patched. But this might not have been the case, if they were using an Ultra disc?

GeoNeo

I disagree.
If you a playing in CPT2015 I'm sure everyone will check to make sure the game is patched from here on out.

Thank lord for Ricky O and Snake Eyez picking it up otherwise the damage could have been much worse.

Pretty sure it was Ricky that noticed the green hand right away lol. She too sharp.

He might have had the patch for both versions. He might not have. I dunno.

Experience tells me otherwise.

Capcom might care enough to make sure that at least the top 8 is in order.

I'll talk to the KiT heads about having something like this for our events. I had a personal one in my notebook of random TO shit(god that thing saved my ass) for the anime stuff, wouldn't hurt to get something up for everybody.

I'm pretty sure Evo actually has a checklist on the tables for set ups that staff have to check off and then sign whenever they get it up. That should be a thing everywhere actually, with stuff like this on it.

Experience tells me otherwise.

This so much. There's a lot of common sense things you'd think we'd have taken care of by now because things like this happen, but nope. FGC gonna FGC.

I never thought in my entire life I would feel bad for Kazunoko, but damn he got the rough end of the stick. Having to play someone who you already beat in a close fight all over again sucks. Not to mention the mental game in that sort of situation is way in the favor of the person who is free rolling. Could of been an entirely different tournament if Kazu got to fight Justin then potentially Daigo. Both matches I would favor him in.

I mean.. what if Daigo lost to Strider? It was close

until Daigo went SSJGOD with those resets

But, was it fair that NuckleDu was forced to VS a pre patched Yun? That built more bar, did more stun, and damage, and had better frame advantage? We saw in the run back he bopped Kaz.

End of the day Capcom decided to reset. Shitty situation for every player involved. Now, people saying Du "stole" the win off Kaz when really he was just doing what Capcom demanded which was running it back.

Hey good news, my friend who beat all you guys up at EVO 2013 is coming back this year, so get reaady for dat salty runback!

That had more to do with Nuckledu adapting to Kazunoko's offense after being given four free games. Kazunoko used all his Dashio seth gimmicks in the first set.

So Kaz did no adapting to Du at all?

Adapting works both ways. Go back watch the matches his Yun was building insane meter and before the Double KO if it was the patched version he would have not had the bar to red focus before hand.

Not to mention Kaz was pressing buttons after ex lunge punch which Du was trying to punish but was getting counter hit on due it being +1 pre patch.

After rewatching the first no patch set I think Du was the one that would have been fucked over as well if there was no reset.

All in all it was shitty situation for the players.

If Capcom (or NCR) were smart they should at least offer to pay half (or All) of Kaz's plane ticket. But, I don't see them doing that.

Probably Vampire Savior. Fast paced matches with incredible pressure and crazy mixups. The top tiered characters played very differently and even the bottom tiered characters could keep up if used by the right players. I feel this game never got the recognition it deserved, especially outside Japan. Doesn't make sense.

Or Primal Rage.

edit: VS I guess because I would love to see Sako and Haitani go up against Daigo and Nuki in VS when they're taking the game seriously. By the time those two stopped playing Sako started becoming god like in VS.

I think Du played amazingly in both his sets against Kazunoko, and indeed throughout the whole tournament. I do feel bad for Kazunoko, but it was Capcom officials that made the choice to replay the games; all Du did was play his best in the matches he was told to play. Kid's crazy talented and has been working his ass off and to see the validity of his placing at NCR challenged is sad.

Speaking about the 32 spots. I honestly think that it'll be hard to see even 12 non asian players...

From Europe at the moment just can see Luffy, Ryan Hart and Valmaster make in it (Don't think Gagapa it's going to travel a lot). I would like guys like Fluke, ISDD and Problem X to make it, but i doubt it...

From the States just seeing Du, Smug, Snake and EG gang (Besides K-Brad). Dieminion and 801Strider barely. Hamad at the same situation that Gagapa. Besides them, maybe Chris G and T if they traveled to some ranking events that the top skip.

But if we look at the ranking, people like Dark Jiewa o Humanbomb have many points, and defenitly going to perform well in diferents ranking events that remain ... And at the moment not many japaneses careing about travel to ranking events (Even the fukuoka one miss many tokyo players).

The main problem it's that asian players are going to keep taking points from de European and American events, so the chances to take an important amount of points reduce...

Problem X will qualify, I'm sure of it. ISDD travels a lot, but I don't see him winning a premier. The European schedule doesn't favour qualifying on points either. No way Pro Fluke qualifies, because I'm going to pull my finger out, reclaim my spot as no.1 UK Fuerte and qualify instead.

idk about problem x. Can't remember the last time he beat Luffy or Ryan in a tournament.

I'll rather give more chance to Alioune.

Lost to Tyrant in winners, then to Edinbulba in Losers.

Edinbulba, who then had the NERVE to lose to Fluke in his next match...

Asia has the most ranking events too. If R/Kappa sends out more Asian players out to European events, they could pick up a lot of points as those players are capable of going very deep in a tournament.

US players are going to have to start traveling overseas.

The difference in Ranking events last year compared to this year:
US: 15 vs 6
NA: 23 vs 8
Asia:10 vs 12

Premiere events:
Asia: 3 vs 4
NA: 6 vs 6

So you see they will have to start traveling because very few players are going to pick up a massive amount of points at the prem events in the US. The very best consistent players will pick up points at the ranking events, but the ones that can't crack the top 4 consistently will struggle to get more points than the Asian players unless they start traveling overseas. This will be especially true if the qualified japanese players decide not to enter the japanese prem events as there is no prize money involved so there could be potentially less points gate keeping involved.

Yesterday was a shitty situation that shouldn't have happened if someone took two second to check to make sure the console was updated. It goes to show you how many people don't think about it until it's too late which is why it happens so often at tournaments.

The Twitter blowups are hilarious, but you should be on point with these things since you're taking money from people to run the event, but the stakes are even higher to be on point with Capcom being involved in the scene and doesn't want to deal with making the decision to restart the top 16.

And Capcom Cup is going to be all Asian players with the way things are looking. Even if someone from America or EU gets in, what chance are they going to even have with the level of competition being raised. 0 - 2 B O Y S
