The fact that they don't even mention rolling out Challenges and Face-offs (outside of the built in ones) in that update is a bit concerning. That seems like a pretty key part of the game and they don't seem to be communicating at all how long we have to wait for those to be activated.

Yeah I got quite easily connected to the servers for the club stuff but these things are of course still not working. Getting into a MP was also impossible.

Went into this game at release with mixed feelings about the game, but I totally changed my mind after my session yesterday. My biggest frustrations were some of the more frustrating AI moments and the penalty/score systems, and after playing through some races with the HUD turned off (which is an amazing experience by itself), I really came to enjoy this game immensely.

I'm usually not bothered with stuff like penalty systems but the AI collisions and such (which I try to avoid, but sometimes they're just unavoidable), but with this game it got a bit on my nerves at times. With the HUD turned off and putting all of my attention to my driving itself without all of the side-stuff made this game a lot more enjoyable for me.

I agree, with no HUD I feel so immersed in the game and when i get a penalty it was because of my lack of focus leading to shitty driving(usually, AI is still a bitch).

Yeah I know...I've been deleting and restarting the failed downloads almost every day since release. Everytime I add them I get the same error as before the announcement. Anyone with the same problem? I know 2 people who were able to download them but both have a retail copy and I am the only one with the PS+ digital upgrade.

The new updates didn't even show in my download list, but when I look at them in the add ons section of my library it says they're installed.

I haven't checked in game yet.

Respect. Very good drifts. At first those events pissed me off because I couldn't figure out how to control the drift but I spent an hour doing just drift events last night and I'm in love with it now.

The better you get, the better the game gets. I'm really enjoying the single player campaign.

Managed to get on the leaderboards today for one race pity I happened to notice it just as I fucked up. Love that it isn't just one ghost that you are racing against, there was 3 in total and one of them was one of my times.

I've British Racing Green and Bright Yellow with GAF coloured stripes, Lotus Black and Gold with GAF stripes and my "GAF Gold" car which is Gold and White with GAF stripes.

So if I have a list of 50 tests to carry out, I carry out all 50 successfully and something still breaks, does this mean my testing was wrong?

No, it means something outside the parameters of the testing happened. As it is outside testing parameters, it most likely means it was an unforeseen error, which couldn't have been tested against.

I say this as someone who works with both software and networking and has experienced exactly the same situation the guys at Evo are having - prior to going into the wild, everything checks off against all the tests you think or are told you need to run.

You go live, everything goes titsup and you've no idea why and need to find the fault. The problem being that in order to find the fault you need to have live users, but no-one can get live because of the fault.

I was lucky - I only had 50 users to worry about, and could roll the remaining 300 or so back to the pre-fuckup instance quickly, but it still took us a week to find the problem and fix it. We'd even had a live environment test the weekend before on the production server and it was working then.

Sometimes shit doesn't go wrong until it's live in the wild, and then you end up looking like complete cocks, irrespective of what you've done pre-launch.

I understand that people are annoyed about this - I am too - but I'm also sick of the armchair technical analysis over this. There is no way you can know how this error occurred, so please just stop with the 'They fucked up, how could they not know this was going to happen' stuff.

tl:dr - sometimes testing and simulation won't show up a fault that happens in a wholy live environment.

Just had my first multiplayer race. Let's just say that I can see myself playing this game online for a really long time once things get normal with the servers. There's nothing quite like the thrill of beating human opponents compared to AI. I like the AI in this game though.

The race wasn't that competitive though, won by ten seconds in a hyper car race. Most people seemed to crash in each corner. Driving lines and corner speeds were ridiculous. Just by braking early enough and clean cornering you can ace in this game.

Started to unlock the last 4 or 5 cars today... Jesus Christ, what beasts. Did one event, where you drive through India with 330+ km/h. Was on the edge of the seat the whole race.
