Sheild grab Mac's dash? That's asking to get hit by his jabs.

Most Mac players are really predictable with their dash attacks tho, so you can just hit him out of it.

So why doesn't blocking and grabbing work? Or did you mean just against a dash, not the actual dash attack? I'd assume the dash attack is minus enough that you can grab him. As far as an empty dash, is there a way to cancel those? I'm such a Smash noob.

Bowser's Fortress. Extremely fast startup, good damage, and knockback.

By the way, since we're both wireless now (har har), we should play. My friend code:
3265-5578-1441

PM me yours.

Haha, yesterday I thought about making a joke that I wouldn't play you until you're wired :P. Will send. I'm sure you'll spot a lot of the basic stuff I'm doing wrong (never had a Smash game until I got Brawl this past Christmas, haven't gotten to play it much).

DeDeDe is mystifying to me. How do you beat a good DeDeDe? Sometimes I can't even get a single goddamn hit. It's like his grab has twice the reach of any other character. So frustrating.

Choose Jigglypuff and rest the hell out of him, he's a huge target so it should be easy

Grabbing a Mac after his dash attack is really difficult because the move is safe as hell on block and he can instantly jab after it, so you'll get hit by it if you try to grab him. On the other hand if you can see it coming, you can hit him out of it. I use Wario and Yoshi and their forward tilts beat his dash attack. (Yoshi's forward smash is fast enough for that too)
A lot of Mac players abuse the hell out of his dash attack so best take advantage of that.

You can shield cancel out of dashing.

Really, really enjoying Shulk. He's a blast to play. Him, Robin, Kirby and Villager are the current faves online, with Kirby being by far my highest win rate.

Oh man I'm starting to warm up on using Marth. That tipper smash power is really so great. Just won a good amount of matches using him. I just suck against fast characters though, like Sonic.

Just in time to practice on the Super Bash Sisters tournament.
Marth is a girl, right? Right?
Of course it's in preparation for using Lucina :p

Mario is gradually becoming one of my most feared opponents in this game, dude just jumps around flinging out swift aerials and hits the floor with the most minuscule lag making him hard to punish, easily combos at low percentages and that freakin' slide man, I don't know why I ever spot dodge it as the move lingers and hits you anyway.
I fear me and my rival smashers ever continuing trend of Mario vs Donkey Kong matches are going to get very lopsided if he picks up on Mario's tricks here.

Spent the better part of the last hour out of my league against another player, unfortunately I don't feel like I learned much from this except how easily I can get punished when trying to attack.
In credit to new and improved Yoshi he earned me one of my few wins, while I don't like what they've done to his style of attack and design the newt does well this time around.

Watching bad Little Macs attempt to roll-cancel grab after they see me do it with no clue what to do is always entertaining in For Glory.

man, each time I look at one of these, it makes me really sad :(
and also nervous

how many hours you have racked up in the game?
Happened to mine too (is yours a Pikachu edition?). I can't find the circle pad to even glue back lol. I can still use it to play but man, it really hurts on the thumb after a while.
19 hours, standard white XL.

Well apparently that just ain't true pal
It's never happened to me before. The rubber is attached with an extremely thin piece of plastic, it's just fragile as heck. My original 3DS still works fine after three years.

Yeah, I kinda agree. I kinda miss when Yoshi just hit people with his face. Seeing him do cool judo kicks also looks off to me for some reason.

And newts are aquatic, which Yoshi isn't really :P He's definitely more lizard than anything.

If you're having trouble with the grabs, all I can say is... don't get grabbed. It's actually quite easy when you really think about it and dedicate your playstyle to that.

there was a time when I didn't know how to fight Falco, DDD and Ice Climbers in Brawl and would get MASSACRED by chain grabs. Like consistent 3 stocks. Then I realized that most characters have safe moves that let you attack without being grabbed afterwards. Use those attacks. All the time.

It might take some time to get used to. If your play style is "mindless offense", like mine was, you're going to get grabbed a lot. If you pull back and play a bit more defensively, it shouldn't be too bad.

As a Sheik player, I've had no problems fighting DDD so far. MK too.

What? Mac's dash is so punishable. I love what bad macs spam it on me! The Ftilt though...

How to kill Little Mac in 5 easy steps:

1. Choose Dedede or Kirby. Dedede is much preferred.
2. Camp on the edge. Let Little Mac approach.
3. Inhale Little Mac then drop off the stage.
4. Spit out Little Mac at halfway down.
5. Recover. Rinse and repeat. :p

Tried that twice. It caused a player to quit on me lol.

man, that sucks.

I'm close to 40 hrs; including the demo, and my circle pad is still going strong (I think); but I just can't avoid living with this fear. It's happening way too often, mine it's gonna snap soon, I just know it :(

Good games jrdev! i have no idea how to defend against those damn tomes! LOL
GGs, one thing I don't like about Robin is that there is not much killing attacks available, and what is there is pretty slow...I've knocked you away countless times thinking this should be final kill but the KO flash didn't show lol...

Robin needs a bit more balancing...

I just use newt as something of a derogatory term because I dislike the Yoshi's Story style design they revamped the real deal with, OVERGROWN NEWT!
Not that I've got anything against newts.

Speaking of Yoshi and Little Mac as a current topic, I shat a Mac off the stage as an egg for a KO and that made me happy, I didn't ever expect it to work on a human player let alone a good one.

Yeah I was surprised how many times I survived those hits. The only two characters I'm decent with are Ness and ZSS. I really need to practice other characters lol

One thing I noticed was there was a time when I blocked all of Arcthunder's hits except the last but my percentage remained at 0% even after I flew back a bit.

You aint kidding. My bro mains Dedede like a beast. He came in the semi finals at that Nintendo tournament just last weekend. He swears by exactly what is stated above.

See DK used to be able to take characters under the stage. Not any more...

Is WFT any good? Sometimes I think her short range is manageable, but then I remember how bad her recovery is and give up.

WFT actually has a pretty good recovery range (remember to tap b while using it), and while she has short range, she definitely has the speed to close distances so that she can use her normals. Projectiles provide good pressure for certain uphill match-ups as well (Little Mac, Yoshi, Rosalina). Racking up percentage is one of WFT's easier feats, the real challenge is landing the finishing blow.

I'd love to see a video of this.

He can't? oh man, that was always a treat.
You're a dab hand with DK in Smash if I recall, what are your thoughts on him this time around because I feel like I'm not digging the dong as much as I should.
I can't tell if its fatigue with is moveset or just that he feels off and less capable than other characters this time around.

Wait cargo doesn't do that anymore?

Dude I was the king of that! One of my greatest options is gone. Even if they could tech, I would throw them under the stage instead of against it!

Down Cargo Throw throws the the character down now instead of billowing them straight forward. In the E3 build doing that in mid air would send them straight down. I guess they deemed that too powerful so now when you Cargo Down Throw in mid air the enemy bounces off of invisible ground.

I really need to figure out how to make Cargo Throw useful because it combos into basically nothing in any thrown direction.

lmao the person you played got baited so hard

extra tip on this: if the Little Mac player doesn't approach you, that's perfectly fine, don't approach him either

This! His dash attack always ends up on the wrong side of a grab! I was wondering if everyone had that problem or if the guy I was playing was just super good at managing distance.

What are good counters to Mac's dash if you don't have an armored move like Bowser? Up tilts? Shield then jab then ??? ?
I actually don't think Fortress has armor. Maybe Shell Guard. It's effective because it hits on both sides, not because of armor.
