I'm subbed till December and have a 1 Year Sub card waiting to be redeemed. I'm good :p Besides I don't want to get a 3 Month sub anyway. Any recommendations?

Which platform? MGS: GZ is $19.99 for the PS3.

How about newly released indie games with great reputations like Towerfall?

catherine?

Watched a LP of it so I don't really have any desire to play it. I'm pretty sure I'd throw my ps3 out the window if I did try playing Catherine anyway

Considered it because Peace Walker was a preorder bonus. I saw some people saying they got a peace walker theme instead of the game though D:

I also have no idea what to buy. So many choices... I was going to just wait but the offer will end anyway on Tuesday. I could get a full game but I'm a physical disc person... hear Towerfall is awesome but I have no one to play it with.

Effin' Ys Seven, its a shame they couldn't get voiced dialog for the game, but it must've been due to the budget. Non the less, this game is fun, def. worth getting @ $15!

Going to get FFX HD $39.99. No clue what I should buy for the remaining $20.01 lol

For Vita get Ys: The Oath in Felghana and Ys Seven.
Both are some of the best Japanese RPG games I've played in YEARS
Oath will make you feel like a badass-

Put simply here's my impressions of the Ys games I've played so far:
Ys: OiF (Ys 3)- FUCK YEAH, SON!
Ys Seven- Fuck yeah, son!

So having bought PDf last week and it being my first Vocaloid game, I'm actually thinking about importing PDf 2nd on release.

Are there any problems concerning that or is it "only" no DLC.
I would still get patches "should" there be anything wrong right?

I've really been on a buying spree in the last few month when it comes to my vita, this year alone I have bought 5 retail games and 8 digital games .... this handheld is ruining me :p

It should be noted Project DIVA F 2nd doesn't have all its content on the game card. Some of the game's optional content (which includes edit mode, but I'm not entirely sure of the extent) must be downloaded from PSN. The game should still be playable without the additional download, but some features will not be available. Being the Vita, this pretty much locks the full experience to those who have JP PSN accounts attached (assuming this additional download is in the form of optional DLC and not a mandatory patch).

+1 to this. I know you said you don't want to get any PSP games, but I think these games are worth reconsidering if you don't have them (and this goes for LoH:TiTS too). Oh, but Ys:OiF might make you feel inadequate; I played it on easy and still had a tough time. That games was seriously hard for me.

Oh, as for Vita game recommendations, I don't know what you already have, but here are some nice choices imo:

Terraria (you can play coop with me if you want)
Project Diva f (I saw Zero mentioned the DLC, so I guess you might already have this)
Ys Celceta (a bit easier than the PSP ones, but still fun)
Dragon's Crown (great game, and I saw it's on sale for $25)

Waiting for a sale on Terraria.
Already have PDf
Ys is out of my budget (Capped at $28)
Was thinking about DC or Muramasa.

Not sure if it was mention but the latest Famitsu had some more detail Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth which which is being developed by Media. Vision who did the Wild Arms series. There a read on Siliconera about it too.

You have PDf? Then Muramasa is probably more up your alley than DC. Yeah, that's a weird way to assess it, but both games are by Vanillaware anyways. I just have this feeling that you'd prefer the faster feel to Muramasa's combat compared to DC's treadmilling. Although I will admit that you'll clear Muramasa (without DLC, anyways) within around 12 hours for both stories, excluding stuff like extra dungeons and trophy hunting.

You can always look up videos to at least get an impression of it.

You can't go wrong with either since they're both great games, but I enjoyed Muramasa more. Although the gameplay isn't deep, it was fun. It was cool zipping around the screen button-mashing enemies into oblivion. And the story is better, too. I found all 6 endings interesting.

Going to wait till Tuesday to buy anything. You never know what might go on sale

I wasn't aware that Muramasa had much of a story. Any Vita games out there with great stories? Besides P4G and DanganRonpa

I've played Soul Sacrifice with you before D:<

Got Infamous SS and waiting for FF, but will it release in time for the 60$ promotion before it ends?

Assuming the store actually updates on Tuesday you should be fine. I seriously doubt they could fuck up the store update twice in a row. I believe in you Grace Chen

You had a hard time on EASY? I beat this badass mutha on Normal, the game isn't hard at all IMO. Bosses are challenging but not impossible, you just gotta know when to go all LEEROOOOOOOOOOOOOOY on their asses, other enemies aren't too much of a problem once you know their patterns. Pro tip: Set Magic to the R button, that helped me out a lot XP.

There's Runner2 if you don't have it yet, and its $4.99 til the coming Tuesday.

That's a good idea, though is DC just on sale for this week? If so, you'd miss it. But as I wrote, I think Muramasa is better.

And yeah, Muramasa has a great story, imo. Well, I don't want to set you up for disappointment. I mean, it's definitely the not the main component of the game, and not anywhere near as deep as some RPGs, but the story cutscenes you see between the gameplay stages as you run back and forth weave an interesting tale. But that's only as long as you're paying attention. In a game like this, it's easy to just mash through the text and run off to the next checkpoint. And as I mentioned, I really liked the endings. Some were sweet, some were creepy, all were interesting. You'll definitely want to watch them all if you pick the game up.

I was playing on normal but I got to this fire dragon boss and just couldn't beat it. And I was struggling so badly up to the point. Every encounter, even the random monsters, was a life-or-death battle. But I did appreciate the planning and waiting for the right time to strike aspect of the game, so I might go back to it one day.

Oh that was one of the early game bosses. My advice would be to grind a level or two then take him on again. Even for me he was a hassle, but really just take your time, learn the patterns and use wind spin on him when he's in the air. Don't attack him head on, or by attacking the head.

if you actually read the book, it has a great story

but you didn't

you charge with close ranged weapons and you know very well how that goes.
And well if you really want to use them, wait for Delta
buy it day one

That's another thing, though. I read that was an early boss, but it had taken me 12 hours to get to that point, which just showed me how poorly I was doing. But yeah, maybe I just needed to grind a bit. That made a HUGE difference in Ys Chronicles.

No offense, but taking you 12 hours to have reached that poin in the game is strange o_O
To be sure is it
the boss that comes out of holes in the ground and spews fire everywhere? You fight it after getting a key item deep in the fire dungeon
I mean I managed to beat the game in 12 hours myself!

Yeah, that's the one. It might have been 11 hours, though. I can't remember if it was 11 or 12. And yeah, I thought it was weird too when I compared it to others. I have a tendency to talk to everyone and check every corner, and I tried to play it as safe as possible with enemies. I guess that just added up. Progress was such a slow crawl. I was mostly fine though after switching to easy.

I kind of wish FFX/X-2 wasn't coming out next week. I feel like I need more time with Project Diva.

I never thought I'd say that.

That and I've got a tonne of assessment for university coming up the week after :/

Have a question for VitaGaf. Whenever I'm waiting at a blackscreen I see these black lines on my screen but as soon as the game loads the lines go away. Anyone have any idea why the black lines are there?

It's just the OLED screen technology. I saw splotches on mine, as if there was water under the screen. Only on totally black screens and only in pitch black darkness though. If you're seeing it in a lit room that's unusual.

Welcome to Neogaf! Now Baptized yourself first by playing Tearaway.

Thanks! :D Tearaway is in my looooooong wishlist & backlog

I'm really liking how it's literally -> another day, another Vita game

Yep!

You won't get mainstream games from the west. Forget it, not even 3DS get those. Better hope that the console continues to peak in Japan like recently and we get more and more announcements from there.

West = Indies/PSN, if you're not a console.
This.
And that's why I'd be fine even with western ports/collection. Dang you ubisoft/capcom, where are my Rayman 3/Beyond Good & Evil/POP/DMC/Okami HD collections? :'(

Btw I hope to see this on Vita, it may not be the most original game game ever, but a 3d action/platformer is what I need on my Vita:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zusxx9AlsgQ

It's developed on unity and it's slated for "consoles" and PC, so I asked devs if there was a Vita version in the pipeline, and they answered "We can't announce anything, but we hear you! :) ".

Also, dunno if it's been already posted:

It's crazy. I've never been a fan of Vocaloids but I should have given it a chance earlier. It's really, really addictive and there's so much stuff to do on the side besides the rhythm game as well. Really great stuff.

So how did you spend your $60 on US PSN for the $10 promotion?

Infamous pre-order and one Toukiden DLC. The $10 will then be used to buy Fez.

I'm subbed till December and have a 1 Year Sub card waiting to be redeemed. I'm good :p Besides I don't want to get a 3 Month sub anyway. Any recommendations?

Why? If you redeem it now, it will add to your current subscription, not restart it.

you charge with close ranged weapons and you know very well how that goes.

lol

Do you have a source for that number? Our usual GAF posters have implied it's closer to 45k.

It was the number flying around in the npd thread. 45k sounds too optimistic, but I hope it's higher than 12 at least

Has there been any indication of a sale on the PSN Store to coincide with the launch of Ground Zeroes? Wouldn't mind picking up some of the earlier games again for the Vita if there is a price drop.

If you have even one person to play with in-person, BUY TOWERFALL. This game is amazing. I had played the Ouya version and had a blast, but the new modes for Ascension really add a lot.

And now the wait for a resend from Amazon, ran way too hot and the screen would always be off color when switching to it via hdmi and would flicker everyone in a while.

Side note, the new BF on it is a completely different experience with that controller (I suck hard).

I kinda expected that going into the game on PS3. PC ver. is much smoother of course.

Yeh, but I didn't expect it to be that bad.
Anyway, I just had to reload the game. The bridge glitched and catapulted a sheep skyhigh. It landed not far from the bridge, but it was stuck in a rock.
