I know we didn't need another cliche bad guy show but I felt Childress (sp?) didn't get enough screen time to truly capture his "evil" nature. But holy fuck, when walking through Carcosa, he was fucking demonic in his dialogue.

At the end, when Rust says he saw him back in '95, is there actually a scene that shows this? That would be pretty fucked if there was and Childress was in the background somewhere.
He talked with him when he was on the lawnmower.

Sorry if I'm stepping on your toes man I am just in awe, I'm all over the place. I thought my man was dead and it felt right and they ripped him right back out into life.

No flat toes here...I just thought it was funny. When they said Rust was alive my first thought was "How the fuck is that possible?"

That big motherfucker taking a couple bullets and throwing that axe into Marty's chest was great.

Maggie remarried. It was probably to show all that Marty had lost, but he'll be alright eventually.

I think it had to be the one from Marty, based on the context of that scene.

WELL WHO DO I BELIEVE???

Remarried: I think it would have been an odd thing to focus on at that scene, considering they never explicitly said she remarried.

Old ring: It's hard to believe that she'd give him another chance just because of this incident, but then again she gave him another shot after the first 'shootout'. And if that wasn't a sign that she would take him back, that's ultra fucked up on her part.

Not the background. Rust spoke to him at the school when the guy was on the lawnmower. That picture has been ALL over this thread lately.

The lawnmower man in episode 3.

I love how there actually turned out to be two different layers of abductions/rituals/murders here. The Childress one, which they solved in this episode, closing the Dora Lange circle, and the one the "sprawl" one, the one they will never solve, the one that created The Yellow King Childress.

Goddamn that was awesome. First 10 min creeped me the fuck out and the intensity didn't let up. Going to miss this show but it shows how strong a concise, planned out story can be told in only one season. Great great stuff.

Creepiest shit on HBO since the end of Carnivale. The trek through Carcosa was reminding me a bit of that final corn field sequence between Brother Justin and Ben.

"You're looking at it wrong, the sky thing. "
"How's that?"
"Well, once there was only dark. If you ask me the light is winning."

Thank you kindly.

Believe me! I am always right!

Well, not really, and I could definitely be wrong here. I thought she had remarried, but it could have been something I just assumed.

Yeah I thought Rust was in hell, I kept expecting the yellow king to be Marty and go NOT TONIGHT but man. I'm still coming down, more coherent views to come? So good overall. 8 fantastic eps leading to a resounding conclusion goddamn.

Well there was the questions that came up from her new, big-looking house and new SUV. Either she cleaned Marty out in court, she got a fat inheritance from her possibly-dead parents, or nurses in Louisiana make a fuckton of money.

I liked manly man Marty crying in front of his family better than atheist nihilist Rust crying about his trip to heaven

for me it was more thinking he was speaking more of a presence, something that was real above the definitions of classical "heaven" and its religious interpretations

So this show and Breaking Bad will be in competition at the Emmy's, right? As much as I love BB, I want this show to sweep it.

Yeah, that's kind of why I assumed she remarried. I may need to go back and watch that scene to see if she's wearing a ring. Or, I could just rewatch the entire series now that it's complete. Yeah, I may do that.

I thought that was her parent's house they went to earlier in the season. Just to me, how the camera focused on the ring, the look they gave each other, etc. Why do they show that if they weren't gonna get back together? I could be wrong, but it's just how i interpreted it.

Errol threw a hammer at Marty, not an axe.

Definitely an axe. I don't think any hammers have sharp edges on them that cut into people.

And I was slightly annoyed that Rust took out the knife. I figure he would have known not to remove foreign objects.

What a amazing finale. The Carcosa sequence was so fucking intense. That whole thing gave me a big The Silence of the Lambs vibe.

I really don't understand how they are gonna top that. I liked how Rust and Cohle came together again.

Kind of eerie knowing the Tuttles are still out there.

No, it's like a hatchet. One side is blade, one a hammer, and corner of the bladed side gets embedded in his upper right chest.

They're undoubtedly be in different categories. Drama series vs miniseries/movie.

I believe Maggie didn't get remarried just from my impression of things from the scene in the car where Rust and Marty were talking about her.

I am satisfied but still have questions

I think that's kind of the point. Life is cruel, fucked up and unfair and you never get all the answers. Marty and Rust put Childress down, but they didn't and never will get to the bottom of the ritualistic torture/murder of abducted children that lead all the way up to the Tuttles that Childress was subjected to. Time is a flat circle. All that happens has already happened and will happen again.

That was left vague. Turns out that storyline was about Marty and shit it was worth it in the end, all representation issues aside. I mean I get the crit but goddamn what show.

Ain't gonna lie, that Rust speech at the end made me tear up. Fucking McConaughey man, what a hell of a performance. Same goes to Woody too. Great ending.

The atmosphere in 'Carcosa' was unreal, I felt like they only explored one route of what was a entire city of darkness. That was some intricate ass set design.
