'In a store'. Bricks and mortar.
Still BS.

"Brick and mortar" stores might have their own policies but usually it is 28 days as long as the product is in "resealable condition".
Below, just as an examole T&Cs from GAME:

When does the GAME returns policy apply In-store? We offer a 28-day right to an exchange (subject to availability) or credit note on our products (excluding gift vouchers/gift cards*) purchased in-store and returned in-store, provided that:
  • The product is returned within 28 days of purchase;
  • You have a valid proof of purchase which can include any of the following documents (except where you are returning an Xbox Console or Controller which requires a receipt as proof of purchase):
    1. Receipt.
    2. Reward card record.
    3. Bank statement or credit card statement.
  • The product is returned in its original condition (unopened and unused).
  • If you are returning an Xbox Console or Controller the serial number must match the one on your receipt;
  • The product and/or digital content has not become mixed inseparably with other items after their purchase;
  • The product is complete and contains all component parts as purchased. Items purchased as part of a combined product (for example a combined hardware and games product) can only be returned if all items in the combined product are returned together;
  • The product is re-sellable;

Hardware estimates from installbase

UK August 2023

PS5: 82k
NSW: 27K
XB: 26k

A 76% boost would put it at barely half the PS5 sales. Congrats I guess.

You can't open a console then return it though.

Yeah for non-faulty goods bought in store there is no legal obligation. Some stores can offer their own policies if they wish and have to then stick to them if they do.

Bizarre that it was the first question in this thread though 🤷‍♂️

It looks good on XSS. Would love a vrr update for better fps tho. The eventual mods to address the fugly npcs can’t come soon enough.

There is no world where a 76% increase is "low"
Sales gone up from 3 to 5 units. Seems low to me? Guess someone needs to learn that percentages doesn’t have any relationship to amounts of anything lol. It can also be from 10 to 17 million, but since MS only uses percentages nowadays and never any sales numbers it’s most realistic to assume that sales gone up from abysmal to slightly less abysmal. Starfield doesn’t sell any extra boxes long term it seems. A spike for this one week and normal low numbers from next week again.

That being said, I personally really enjoy the game but I can also see why people would completely hate it.

All damage control.

This game was proclaimed to be the GOTG and saviour of Xbox.

Not even close.

Reality is if Starfield couldn’t shift the tide this generation no other game will for Microsoft.
Now you see why they're wanting to buy up all the largest 3rd party publishers. They're even pulling Ubisoft into the fold with the cloud restructure to the CMA. You watch,

Xbox was averaging 6.5k a week in August. A 76% increase won't be doing much and that's launch week. It's not going to sustain an increase over the whole month. Xbox is selling like a system that is 7 years old and on its way out, when it's supposed to be hitting its stride right now. Though I'm more curious about US sales. That will tell us much more.

I think people are misinterpreting what he said.

He was talking about the current state of Xbox and in that regard, with the success of Switch and momentum of PS5 coming off PS4, releasing games won't change all that much for Xbox.

The 76% increase in sales this month in UK isn't going to make much of a difference (as others have pointed out) and this was Xbox' major title.
Future releases also won't make much of a difference, because PS5 will widen the gap.

And then you'll have the same issue going into next-gen, as more people have built up a library on systems other than Xbox.

We understand what he said. We just disagree and know that he's wrong! And his type of thinking is what's wrong with Xbox.

But fact of the matter is, that games won't help much.

People tend to think otherwise because of a short boost in sales and use that as proof, but Xbox already fell too far behind and won't recover. No matter what Xbox is going to do.

Edit:

People also seem to ignore another important aspect: the players library.
Since last-gen, people have been building digital libraries and this gen it only became more important.
This means there is more reason to stay within a specific eco-system and this is Xbox biggest problem after losing a lot of marketshare last-gen and even more this gen.
Spencer explained this pretty well in that interview.

It's a downward spiral that they won't recover from.
