There have been so many superhero movies with obscure characters or characters that are just not too well known by the general public but maybe known by fans.
One such comic, that has received a couple of video games, is The Darkness. Lots of people like swear filled mafia movies and edgy comic book characters that are demonic so you would think this would be a good time if any to make a movie like this.
The fact is also not attached to DC or Marvel may make it seem more original and of course it would have to be rated R.
I think with proper marketing this movie would do pretty well. It may not be easy to make a good movie out of this material but if they try hard enough I could see it happening and pulling in the masses.
