. Have the Tau deal with the Adeptus Mechanicus.

You can kill two birds with one stone and cover much of the universe with minimal episodes too while highlighting the fun and frantic nature of the universe.
Oh i would love to see live action tech-priests. I'm a sucker for them, probably my choice of army if i ever jump into 40k

I forgot if they said it was going to be live action or not but you're correct - the show will have a hell of a time trying to be epic. The budget is going to have to be huge on this as well if it's a live-action show.

I honestly can't see the budget being anywhere near what it needs to be.

This may be unpopular, but I think it'd be better if they went with an animation approach to start off with. That way they can go as metal as they like and not worry about budget. It's probably the same reason why Invincible was animated, because you'd need a absolutely huge budget to do that series as live action.

If the animated series takes off then maybe they could do a film or mini series in live action, but to do the source material justice I think animated would be the best way to start off.

Even more controversial, I think they shouldn't do it at all.

Don't get me wrong, Henry Cavill seems like he's an actual fan but I just don't see this working.

Plus in current year, you know what Henry is going to be forced to do.

I hear you. However, as FunkMiller FunkMiller pointed out, GW will be heavily involved in this production and I highly doubt they'll allow Amazon to fill it with "woke" BS.

GW leans towards that nowadays if I'm not mistaken. And I even doubt Henry Cavill is going to prevent it from slipping in.

I think some IPs are better off not having television, streaming or movie adaptions and just left alone. Warhammer 40,000 is one of those.

It was always a niche franchise and I wish it would just stay that way. I guess it's too late for that though now.

Edit: I guess it also begs to ask whether this show is going to be canon to the game or is going to be its own separate thing like the Halo series?

Nope. Max Bottrill and Andy Smillie are exec producing along with Cavill, and if you know anything about how 40k is run, you'll know that they are incredibly over-protective of the way the IP is used. And it's Amazon Studios UK, not USA who are working with them. That's not full of activist idiots like the American office. There will be some give and take of course, but I'm confident it's not going to go the same way as The Witcher or Rings Of Power. GW will require too much oversight of all agreed scripts and production sign offs.

Definitely canon. There's no way in hell GW or Amazon are going to pass up the merchandising opportunities for the product line. They'll want minis out of this. A lot of them. Entire boxed sets. There will likely be a dedicated 40k shop on Amazon when this all comes together. It's kind of the perfect retail synergy strategy.

Stil on my 40K lore deep dive.

Culexus Temple Assassins are probably the most frightening figures in 40K that I've encountered so far. They also sound incredibly OP. I'm pretty sure one could wreck a Grey Knight with ease.

Fuck, the more I learn about 40K the more I love it.

Is there a website/resource somewhere with which you can keep up on the latest Black Library releases? Keep up to date on new developments and stuff?

The new Norn Emissary. Compared to the average human they look like they're around 35 ft tall.

It looks absolutely gorgeous! I am still trying to figure out a proper paint scheme for my Nids. Was thinking a pure black chitin and a dark grey skin with glazed blue highlights near the joints. With unique patterns on the chitin depending on the bioform of Nid.

I used to be into the Old World lore many years ago. My friend's brother played WHFB and sweet Skaven and Vampire Count armies. The game looked great, but the lore was what grabbed me.

Then GW nuked it for AoS. I've tried getting into AoS, but it's not doing it for me. It doesn't have the same Old World vibes and the game doesn't look the same. However, I'll certainly be looking into they're release of The Old World game. AoS, lore and gameplay wise, just isn't for me.

I guess a lot of people felt the same, which is why they're bringing back the old world to tabletop. I have a feeling it'll be a massive hit for GW.

Probably the best bet is the Warhammer community site. It has the news on the latest releases of everything GW related.

AoS didn't grab me until the Seraphon Revamp and Cities of Sigmar new models. I am really hoping that they allow the models to be used both ways between AoS and Old World! Maybe with switching out bases lol.

I'm hoping the models will cross over. At least some of them anyway.

Swapping the bases would be a must. I gather the Old World will play like classic Warhammer with rank and file units, very much like historical wargaming.

In terms of 40K, I think I have my heart set on Necrons to begin with. The C'Tan, Shard of the Void Dragon is the model that swayed it. Their lore is also really interesting.

I'll also get Grey Knights and Chaos Demons later down the road.

Enjoy! The Necrons are so much fun. What are your plans for paint schemes? I did black, bronze, and red for my color scheme.

Something similar. Something like this.

What army do you currently play with?

The whole "Ghostwind" from those recent nlNecron books of me very.

It's a dimension of nothingness that seems to be aware. The going theory is that it is the place from which the C'tan came from.

I have a... confession to make.

As a 42 yo guy who has been into the hobby since 2nd ed 40k and 4th Fantasy (but hasn't really played for 20 years and is mostly in for the lore nowadays), I love both the Primaris and the Stormcast Eternals. Actually, I love pretty much everything from AoS, and I wish it was around when I did play.

My primary army at the moment for 40K is Votann, though I actually own more Space marines than any of my armies (since they come so often in boxes).

Necron is my second most played and I haven't actually played a match with my Space Marines or Chaos Army.

AOS is Serphon, though I am slowly building up a Kharadron army and am tempted to pick up Cities of Sigmar.

🤔 The Grey Knights work alongside the sisters of silence, so I think the revulsion and terror other psykers feel around the culexus might not stop a grey knight.

The ones fighting alongside the sisters of Silence are the Custodes, not the Grey Knights. And I'm pretty sure, lore-wise any Assassin worth its salt would be more than enough to deal with a Grey Knight anyway, even without being a Null like the Culexus.

Anyone ever heard the death metal band Bolt Thrower? They use Warhammer art and many of their songs are about Warhammer. They go way back into the mid 80s.

I just checked them out on Spotify and now I remember why I'm not into death metal.

The song Through the Eye of Terror sounds like two demons having violent scat sex.

Cool concept, but the music isn't for me.

While I do wonder how you'd know what "two demons having violent scat sex" sound like, I agree with you, this music is definitely not my cup of tea either (and I do love metal, just... not this one).

Ah, no. I didn’t mean on the regular. But grey knights have fought alongside sisters in novels. Chris wraights watchers of the throne, for one. And I think they’d hold their own okay, especially somebody like draigo.

Speaking of amazing new models, what do people think of the Fulgrim model? Personally, I think it's some of the best work to come out of GW for a long time. Just a shame that it won't have any rules for 40K.

Still haven't seen them in any video or screenshot of the game, although they'd make for a nice mini-boss I guess?
They appear in one of the fmv/cutscenes videos. At the time I didn't know what they were but now we find out it's the new Tyranids on the block.

I can't wait until Leagues of Votann appear in one of the games.

Which video was that? The only one I could find was the cinematic trailer for 10th ed, which has nothing to do with Space Marine 2 (other than being Ultramarines vs Tyranids).
Again, it's not that I'm not believing you - I managed to miss a (very obvious) Zoanthrope in one of the gameplay videos because I happened to be focusing on something else happening during the battle.

Maybe it was the cinematic trailer for the new edition.

I wouldn't be surprised if they do appear in the video game. It would kind of make sense considering the focus and how it would coincide with the new edition.

I started the ciaphas cane audiobooks and holy smokes are they great. I highly recommend. The voice talents are fantastic and hit their characters really well.
I want to try the audio books! I hear they have gotten amazing the last decade or so with high quality voice acting instead of dry, monotone reading like I was used to during the early 2000s.

Highly recommend them.

I did the first 4 Horus heresy books (haven’t bought the fifth yet) and those were outstanding. Thought I’d go for something a bit more “fun”, if such a thing exists in 40k, so went with ciaphus and I’m pleased as hell.

I think I have about 4-5 more Warhammer audiobooks in my backlog.

I think I’m going to get them all eventually

They are very good... with a couple of exceptions here and there. Toby Longworth is great (if you can see past a few odd choices for his female voices) and Gareth Armstrong is great as well. Stephen Perring hits Caiphas Cain's character on the head brilliantly.

The only truly bad book audio-wise is A Thousand Sons from the Horus Heresy. The narrator is absolutely fucking awful in every measure.

Get Eisenhorn with Toby Longworth reading. He does the whole Abnett Inquisitor series.

And the Black Library could really do with more books that are a bit lighter in tone. 40k can be ridiculous sometimes, and I wish we had more satirical type stories.

I have a question for those who own both 9th and 10th edition Warhammer 40,000.

Which one has more background lore information? I see that the 10th edition book is a lot smaller than the 9th edition book but I don't know what that means.

Well, i just joined the 40k club. Any tips for first time assembling minis?

NAMoPnC.jpg

I'm going to start soon. Had to have a real think of who I'm going to start with and I'm probably going to stick with Necrons. Later down the line I'll probably try the Grey Knights.

Sisters have a great model range, but look very, very difficult to paint, especially units like the Mortifiers!

Well i'm an imperialist but i don't like Space Marines so it was down to either the Nuns or Toaster Bois and they didn't have a squad of Skiitari in the store.

Small update of my ongoing work

1dkGCd0.jpg
DjPkEvp.jpg
Rg5HOb5.jpg

I'm trying to paint all figures back to back cause i'm not good at noting the proportions of colors i'm mixing, so it goes really slow. Almost done with the base colors on the 10 nun squad, after thst it'll be detailing.
The armor will be a bit glossy metalic and the robes will go from purple to a more blue shade.

Edit: white is a pain to use. I don't know if it's my (Vallejo) paint, but no matter how much i mix and thin with dtops of water it still looks a bit gooey and doesn't cover in a nice, thin layer

White is notoriously difficult to use. Its usually best to do an off white color like Uhluan Grey and then use pure white as an edge highlight.
Yeah i learned my lesson. Still new to the hobby. Thanks for the tips, i might try to do a tad darker shade on the hair and then dry brush some white strands.

Nevertheless i love painting and how comforting it is to my mind. I regret i didn't start earlier.
