There's no way to launch next gen next year... it will be 1.000+ dollars...put next gen on hold indefinitely and row with ps5/ps5pro for a few more years.

The prices aren't increasing 'til August 1st. That gives someone five weeks to buy one if they are hyped and preordering GTA6. It's a good way to drive FOMO and make people who might otherwise wait until November buy in now.

I don't think Nintendo will sustain the $50 price increase for long, they should have gone for a full $100 price increase considering all the price increases Sony, MS and Valve are doing.

They already give shareholders the middle finger commonly. They need to weather the storm and use their first mover advantage in low fidelity, high innovation to get to the other side.

PS/Xbox are about to fold like cards because their businesses are under attack. They can't survive without a new infusion of next gen graphics. Nintendo could go back to SDR and survive.

The whole thing is going to tip over if people don't buy consoles for GTA. If people buy consoles at this price for GTA, that will be a the start of a generation of a sorts. They aren't doing that again for a decade.

So that just leaves people who want to play GTA6, don't have any current gen system yet, and will blindly buy an xbox without looking into it at all.

With prices so high right now and their own predictions that it will double in 2027 they might as well cancel Helix at this point.

Even if it's true, you forget one thing. MS sources that form factor for SSDs for all the Surface devices as well. It's better for them to stick to one form factor across the board for all hardware.
