Not really at all. You must have played with MLG wanna-be kids. Most MLG Players keep there mouth shut when they do into matchmaking. They know if they wanna play MLG they'll play customs.

that ladder doesnt mean anything. we played team classic back during fall season when they were #1 and lost by a kill every match we played on their host.

its still way too early into halo 3 to tell who's good and who isnt. i think theres alot of radomness.

MLG players probably are really nice people, just I never seem to read anything from them on the internet. All I ever hear is elitist rubbish from people like Max_pl and this guy. Heck, it doesn't help that the one guy I know at my Uni who follows MLG is a prick when it comes to Halo.

So can you see why I've formed that opinion about MLG players?

Edit: I like playing MLG rules personally, I just don't can't get on with the players who play them.

well no. there's them, then there's the decent am teams, then all the millions of random teams, then there's the ffa kids, and then there's the team hardcore kids, and then there's matchmaking players, which is gaf.

tbh i don't think it's possible to get good at the game through matchmaking. that's like trying to get good at football by playing six-year-olds in the backyard.

FUCK THIS BS, Seriously you guys are shitting the thread with this crap of MLG vs MM, Max_PL vs the World, and who is good and who is not. I used to like this thread when it was all about stories of how fun the game is because it motivated me to play, but now that shit got real it sux.
 
man all this halo talk and i think my team is getting back together once their boxes come back from repair. i'm kinda getting excited actually.

no that's really not why. it's not the settings, it's who you're playing. matchmaking players aren't as good because they don't get to play against good players. the people who are naturally good at the game play mlg because they can win tourneys and money and have fun doing it, and everybody else who gets to play them gets better because playing better players makes you better. but in matchmaking you never really play somebody above you if you get on top because everybody better than you is scrimming with eachother in customs
 
I knew this thread would blow up eventually. :P I've never claimed to be as good as any low tier MLG team/players...I can't really be that good, or become that good, because I simply don't know anyone that likes to play the game as hardcore as I do.

well you don't have to take it personally if you get called bad. it's really not the end of the world. i know i'm bad, my team gets destroyed all the time and i get called bad every day. i know i'm bad, i know they're better than me, it's clearly obvious by the fact that they just beat me. i just keep playing because it's a silly little game i play for fun

And isn't being called "bad" sort of relative to the fish and the size of the pond? Like Joe Tung and I got devastated by a couple of MLG kids that were here last week, but he and I would fair much better in a 2v2 ladder at Bungie.
 
I remember Team Jesus' attempt at playing in a league, I think it was an online MLG thing or something...I just remember Luke and Trasher constantly cussing each other. :lol

I don't ever quit. Check my -exp. They are all from drop outs.

*edit* out of my 500 or so matchmaking games I only have 14 drop-outs. thats a 3 percent drop out rate.

I don't have the greatest connection so I lag out alot. Thats why my team on GB is only around 128. If I had a decent host about .5 Mbit upload, maybe then I would pull host.

Also, going into hardcore by myself doesn't mean crap. Especially when you get on a team full of people who don't have microphones and are intent on killing you. So, yeah, if you want to look at my hardcore matches, I GO IN BY MYSELF! But if you want to talk about customs on the other hand...

When Bungie finally releases the patch someone should make a separate topic declaring "The patch is out, time to play Halo 3 again! Melee has been fixed!" to spread awareness to people like myself who abandoned the game for one reason or another. Much like Halo 2, I only played the game for a few weeks after launch before abandoned it entirely. Then Bungie's patch (not the new maps) made the game fun to play again and I was hooked for months. I expect history to repeat itself.

I personally think the melee works perfect right now.If you know the timing on the melee and make sure you damage your opponent before melee'ing for the kill then you should have no problem.

If you dont play Halo 3 solely for the melee complaint then perhaps you should not play the game at all.
 
are they ever gunna bring back one on one? ir fix the melee? any updates on that?

what's everyones opinion on skill .

do you think if you rank higher at lone wolves over everything it is more a true representation of your skill ?

I'll admit the melee thing in particular was pretty low on my list of reasons I stopped playing Halo 3, but for others it seems like a much bigger deal. It was really a combination of small gripes combined with a flood of new releases that pulled me away from it. Even though DMC4, Burnout, and SSBB will get a fair share of my gaming hours I can see myself getting back into Halo in a big way after Bungie does some Spring cleaning.
 
how about fixing the overshield bullshit? why the fuck are they invulnerable for the overshield charge up?!

i hate sticking a guy, him walking into an overshield and then crushing me because for 5-7 seconds he is completely invincible!!!!
