Damn, I still need to do those terminals. Do you have to start from the beginning of a level?
Can you do them on easy, normal, etc?

I stumbled across them on Normal. I have heard on the Interwebs that you can use checkpoints.

some terminals say different things on different difficulties.

If you want the Terminal information you can visit the Halopedia page and search for Terminals. They have everything there.

I'm going to check those terminals for the achievement. I'm going to read the actual text on Halopedia.

I doubt that it has anything to do with being an Xbot per se. Maybe he's going into Internet Hermit mode because of some real-life personal relationship issues? Wife/GF threatening to leave if he doesn't quit spending all that time on games or boards? Maybe he's found someone he likes and wants to shed his "reputation" as a nerd/geek? Perhaps his doctor told him that he needs to exercise more. Who knows. I just doubt it's GAF related.
I made that post largely as a kind-of explanation for all the guys I bailed on. Basically, there's a big disconnect between my reputation here and in real life, and the two collided, and it made me realize the corner I've painted myself into on the interwebs. Wasn't pretty. Plus, posting on GAF is one thing. Posting on GAF, in the private MVP forums, Halo clan, doing the HBO news, having IM windows popping up, dealing with lots of Live and GAF private messages - it was too much. I was finding myself stressing about it; I'd come home and have scads of messaging and news to catch up on, rather than relax. It stopped being fun. Plus, I wasn't spending enough time with the wife/kids. I have about four hours each day to see my wife, and two for the kids, during the week. And I squeeze my gaming time into those windows.

Short version: Internet life was taking up too much of my real life, so I scorched the earth on my interactions as a way to get things back into balance, and to change my habits. I'm still doing the GAF thing, because I dig this place, but that whole 20 posts-per-day average thing is going to go down. I realize last night's post was all weird and cryptic but I didn't think anyone would be interested in the details. But since some folks asked, there it is.

:)

I was assuming he meant the reputation he has established here, but I guess it probably is related to something outside of GAF.

Edit: thanks for the explanation. Good luck. :)

About all this story stuff, I think Bungie should just release the Halo Bible in some kind of book form and explain EVERYTHING within!!!

Release the story bible or slowly reveal the story through more games and novels.

I'd rather have it slowly revealed...

Already shot down. Plus, it probably has pictures of Frankie's ass in it.

The two collided? Say what?

This is all so disturbing. Don't totally leave us, okay? I don't want to have to search for someone new to endlessly make fun of.

In non-Ghaleon news: I'm so tired of using spoiler tags. Something about my deep thinkful thinkings being hidden upsets me.

Good idea.

I told Ghaleon to give his family sleeping pills during the beta so he had more fun Halo time and less boring family time, but he didn't listen. If only he had listened! If only...

i could have sworn that guilty spark refers to MC as forerunner..saying you are Forerunner but then goes on a tangent about how our ancestors would not destroy Halo and then that little boss battle with him

That's true.

Forerunner can refer to a sect or a group rather than a species. It is totally possible that humans became forerunners due to the involvement of the original forerunners.

"You are a child of my makers. Inheritor of all they left behind. You are Forerunner... but this ring... is mine!"

I think he means it as more of a title, that the Forerunner thought so highly of humanity that they were willing to leave everything behind for them, and them alone.

but due to the Terminals, we find out that the Forerunners basically stumbled upon Earth very late in the Indexing process that the Librarian was in charge of. The found us, deemed us worthy and built a last-minute portal (in africa) to the Ark. And sent ALL OF US to the Ark before the rings fired.

I'm lost. How did we get back to earth?

What I don't get about the story is why
MC and Arbiter had no (moral) doubts about activating a Halo in the end. I mean, it would have meant the end for all sentient beings right (if the installation was completed)?

No.
They, and the Flood, are outside of the Milky Way, transported via the station on Earth.

When you put it out like that, that's very understandable Ghaleon - hell, I don't even have kids and I realised that I had to slow things down a bit with Halo 3 (just a tiny bit!) :)

Incorrect.

All Halos firing = end of sentient life within Milky Way Galaxy. Halo 04 was in another galaxy (wherever the ark was) so it just meant end of sentient life within range of 04 in that galaxy. However, the ring more or less blew up instead of firing so it really didn't do much other than destroy everything around it.

I'm sorry I have to be a bit obnoxious about it, but I would like an answer as to why Bungie was afraid to show Gravemind in Halo 3.

And seeing how Bungie maintains Halo 3 is 'about as long as Halo 1-2' when it is actually significantly shorter, I got to wonder if the probable Halo 3 expansion pack will feature some campaign levels aside from new maps for MP.

Dr Zhivago said:
What exactly was Truth's motivation? Did he really believe in the Great Journey, or did he just want to use the Halos to kill everyone outside his own followers?

They're the same thing. At first, the Covenant believed that activating the rings would initiate the Great Journey - they didn't know what, specifically, would happen. Once they learned that the Halos wipe out all life in the galaxy when activated, the Covenant adopted a different more nihilist interpretation of the Great Journey. Only the Elites saw activating Halo as mass destruction, and nothing more, which is one of the reasons why they split from the Covenant.

I don't see how it could possibly be Onyx. That planet is contained within a dyson sphere and this is clearly a planet in space orbiting a bluish sun. No, this is where the remaining forerunners reside
StUnNeR H2K said:
After doing a bit of research I see it's more than likely not Onyx. If it was a dyson sphere it would be much larger. As for it being the remaining forerunner civilizations... possibly. It's outside of the reach of the Halo blast so it's possible. Would open up the door for some more explination as to what exactly happen, and how the whole process of the rings being built along with the Ark started.
Neither of these are entirely correct - Onyx isn't 'contained within' a Dyson sphere, nor is it a Dyson sphere. It was an artificially created planet which had, at it's core, a slipspace pocket containing a Dyson sphere, crammed down to less than a meter wide in real space. From space, it should still resemble any ordinary human-colonised world, i think (although it's been a while since i read GoO, so it may have changed before the end of the book).

I'm sorry I have to be a bit obnoxious about it, but I would like an answer as to why Bungie was afraid to show Gravemind in Halo 3.
According to the halo 1/2 cutscenes commentary on the legendary dvd, the original plan was to show the gravemind as he's shown in Halo 3 - purely via the tentacles. His Little Shop of Horrors-esque appearance in Halo 2 was necessitated by the need to introduce him to the players after the level he was originally going to start appearing in was cut (codenamed "Forerunner Tank" - awesomeness would have ensued, apparently). So the H3 version is probably closer to the original vision than the H2 version.

I seriously doubt that Bungie was afraid to show Gravemind. It's probably more along the lines of not seeing Galactus in the Silver Surfer movie or Tolkien not giving Sauron a physical form in LotR. There's something more omininous about an enemy that you never physically see. It gives him an almost omnipresent quality that wouldn't be possible otherwise.

does Chief ever show resentment towards the UNSC for being kidnapped as a child and basically being robbed of a life?
No. He doesn't realize he was "robbed" of a life. And he doesn't see it as a kidnapping. He was taken so early and trained from such a young age that the UNSC is all he knows. Sort of like how you don't feel "robbed" that you weren't born into royalty - your life is just what it is. And imagine that times ten - since not only does he not feel robbed of a life, but his life with the UNSC has a clear purpose and meaning.

No one really knows. It's possible that there were just machines that brought us back.

The art book specifically mentions reintroduction but they never mention what brings us back. Yeah, I'm going to assume it is the machines.

I've had bronchitis for the past three weeks, and just got on antibiotics for it this week. But with all the coughing lately, I've pulled something in my rib cage, and it hurts to breathe much less cough, lift or laugh.

Which is why I'm silently cursing Stinkles for his eloquent description of a producer ("like being hosed down in prison with a feces cannon"), because I'm lolling so hard right now, and oh god it hurts. :lol :lol :lol

That's miserable, I've had that. Get well now.
