I'm having the same problem. Probably related to the spike in usage on B.net. I've been told to be patient.

Holy crap I hope you hardcore Halo fans are reading the art book! It is written from the perspective of the monitors I believe and it gives a lot of new insight into the universe.

All sorts of spoilers dealing with the universe up until the end of Halo 3:

- As mentioned by Guilty Spark, Master Chief is the sole Reclaimer.

- The book keeps referring to an event called "REINTRODUCTION" which explains a ton of what is going on in the Halo universe and the nature of the Ark. The Ark's purpose was most likely to hold life forms from thousands of alien planets and then repopulate them throughout the galaxy after the Halo array had been fired.

- The book also mentions a dark period after the "REINTRODUCTION" but I don't know what that is referring to exactly.

- Under "Tiers of technological achievement" another group is referred to who are called the Precursors. I assume this is a race of beings that existed even before the Forerunners. They are a Tier 0 society.

Definitely read it and apparently the one that comes with the Legendary Edition on the DVD is more robust.

I did this to my co-worker's desk last night... one day I'm going to steal it and eat soup out of it for lunch...

Who said this? I believe it has to do with some preference option. However I cannot find it. Has Stinkles or anybody else commented on this?

Can anyone give me a list of the skulls that would be impossible to find on my own? I found the "Famine" skull in co-op the other night and figuring out how to get it once we saw it was one of the best times we had that night. I'd like to hunt down the other ones, but Dreamer told me that some of them can't just be "found". Like you need to jump through some hoops (literally in some cases) to get them to even appear. I'd never know that shit without gamefaqs or something.

So can somebody list the stupid ones like that so I know how many I have left to find with my friends?

Has anyone gotten the "Marathon Man" achievement?

I found 6 of 7 while I was playing campaign, but when I went back and found the seventh it didn't give me the achievement. Do you have to complete the level for it to count or something?

I'm wondering the same thing.

Ok s just called in quits for today on my Day of online, so so many great times.

GUSH MODE:

I played Bioshock this year and it was a 10 for me then I played Halo 3 Campain & I would say that I had so much more fun.

Then with all the multiplayer stuff also today my sock have been rocked!!!

This game has done a great job of not only being excellent for me and one the best games I have ever played (played a lot of games on a lot of systems) but it also managed the uphill task of living up to the impossible hype.

Well Done Bungie!

/On a releated not, just skimmed teh front page on teh Gaming Forum, whats the deal with all the Halo & 360 hate today. So many threads & stealth trolls, is it that everyone is haloing it and are keeping in check the other people posting :lol

There were quite a few people on the screenshot thread that had the same problem, and the conventional wisdom was to wait it out. Though maybe we're being too patient. I'm pretty sure my preferences are set to accept content from other users (if you're talking about the Xbox.com privacy settings.) I have not heard anything official from Bungie as to what the problem might be.

Yes it appears to be somewhat common. I am having issues with it also. I can upload them to file share, but the "save to gallery" link never shows up. I figure it is just growing pains so I am going to wait it out.

OK, the game really came into its own after level 2. You know when you are waiting for that special 'moment', that just happened
when the felloship was fucking created

unbelievable stuff. AND HOLY SHIT
level 4!!
The environment art is phenomenal, which was shocking as level 1 and 2 were merely 'good'.

You reckon they threw level 2 in there late? its like an alpha stage compared to the levels i've played so far

Quick question. Do most of the maps/game types get covered by the ranked matchmaking? I have yet to see Sandtrap pop up for me, and I'd really like to play it! "Big Match" social matchmaking hasn't been very fruitful in putting me into an actual game.

Wow, the netcode in this game sucks. I have been playing online with local friends no farther away than 30 miles and the thing is lagging to no end. It has happened to me in quite some games too.

Just finished the fight. Overall Halo 3's storyline and ending left me very satisfied.
I like how they left things open for a future Halo game. Well they'd be insane not to do a Halo 4, but it's nice that a brand new story arc can start up with the next game and MC, Arbiter, and Cortana can all be around for it. Nice way of ending it with Chief basically going back to sleep. Wonder what direction they'll take the series now? The next game could bring us to the Brute home world? War between the Brutes and Elites for control over the Covenant? The Elites finding new races to reshape their own version of the Covenant to battle against the Brutes side? Lots of potential, of course I haven't read the books, so there could be things I'm missing.
Either way, congrats to Bungie the game is quite the experience. Sucks that it'll be such a long wait for another Halo. Online co-op with 4 players is so much fun.

Oh, and the music is fucking incredible again. Marty deserves a giant coffee mug he can push around the office 24/7 after Halo 3's soundtrack.

I think it's normal for anything popular to have a backlash of sorts. And most of the trolling hasn't been particularly stealthy. :p

Where can I find this theme?
From the main blade, there's a button right above the "launch game" disk tray icon. It should say something about exclusive content. Click on that, there's a seperate button for a theme and gamerpic. A movie is supposed to go up today, with another one tomorrow, as well, but clicking on the button doesn't do anything just yet.

This stat tracking stuff is friggin amazing. (I rarely played Halo 2 online and, as such, never got to experience any of this previously) I mean, I can see any game I ever played and even, if someone has uploaded media from it, view screenshots and saved films. I'm seriously in awe. The campaign may be a 9 for me, but this stuff easily justifies the scores it's been getting.

Edit: Buttonbasher, I made almost the exact same thing earlier. :lol I didn't think of organizing it like that though; I just had everyone spawn into the mancannons and replaced every weapon with a sniper. Your variant sounds much better.

Actually...

They don't exactly leave things open for another Halo game. If you beat the game on Legendary, you'll see another little clip that shows something that obviously has to do with Marathon. Then again, some believe the main character of Marathon is actually Master Chief, so in a way, it would be a continuation.

Just finished up and my thoughts;

sogood.gif.

Now to play through all the difficulties, and co-op legendary and sometime multiplayer. So much to do here.

Again, where are you guys getting this theory from?

and for the past few days ive played in nothing but full green bar games. either its the netcode or matchmaking is excellent.

only one time when we played 2v2 versus some kids in the UK did one of them drop to yellow bar.

as for as the netcode though, i mentioned everyone having green bars almost all games yet I think Bungie did some magic tricks to hide lag alot of the time. its mostly a smooth experience but occasionally theres a time when someone jitters a bit.

What if you don't have ads on your dashboard?

From the both of the games' lore along with insinuations from Bungie. Also, don't you find it rather interesting that Marathon was released for XBLA, and the fact that Halo 3 has hidden terminals scattered throughout its levels (ala Marathon) with a "Marathon Man" achievement to boot?

It may sound like I, along with others, are reading into things, but the coincidence is too great. Read up on the Marathon series.

AFAIK, whenever you take any picture it gets automatically uploaded to your hi-res gallery, but at the moment it takes quite a while to show up there. at least this is what happened to me yesterday. give it a few hours and you should see the last 30 pictures you took show up there.

Yeah, sometimes the pictures will show up several hours later and sometimes they won't show up at all. Irritating, to say the least.

Jason Jones is so quiet in the developer commentary for the H1/H2 cutscenes, Staten is doing most of the talking :lol

Quick question about the plot during Mission 5:

The whole portal thing has me confused. I remember it from Halo 2, but where exactly does it lead(I'm at the second part of level 5 in the desert), and how was it discovered?

I would've beaten the game already but multiplayer had me sidetracked the last few days.

That portal is different, in Halo 2, the covenant ships made a slipspace jump near the planet surface, and the human ship went through the portal with them. In halo 3, that portal is created to take you to the ark, which you are on now :)

So that planet is from the Marathon series?

wow, the johnson rescue on legendary is INSANE. didnt help that i had three skulls on and shit for weapons when it check pointed at the start of it. i must have died like 30 times before i figured out a way to get through it. thankfully the brutes have a hard time getting around in that tiny passageway underneath the damn ;)

Just finished the 7th level. And wow--had to be my favorite one so far.

Now i'm preparing for the 8th which everyone seems to hate. :|

I beat the game on Normal today. I didn't think the eight mission was that bad. It wasn't as bad as any of the Flood levels from the previous games. With that said though, I don't want to play it above normal anytime soon. :lol The last level was really fun. I didn't feel Halo or Halo 2 deserved 10's, but I think this one does easily.

haha i used that one too, on heroic, cant even begin to imagine how I'll do it on legendary.

If the theory is true, which I most certainly believe is the case, that planet you see at the end is the planet Tau Ceti IV which the spaceship Marathon orbits around, and Master Chief would be the unfrozen protagonist from that game. Obviously, there would be a great leap of time between the end of Halo 3 and Marathon. Hundreds of years, actually.

There's too much insinuation from Bungie to be taken as coincidence.

Marathon's story summarized:

Set in the year 2794 A.D., Marathon places the player as a security officer, dispatched to respond to a distress signal sent from the enormous human starship called the U.E.S.C. Marathon, orbiting a colony on the planet Tau Ceti IV. Throughout the game, the player attempts to defend the ship (and its crew and colonists) from a race of alien slavers called the Pfhor. As he fights against the invaders, he witnesses interactions among the three shipboard AIs (Leela, Durandal and Tycho), and discovers that all is not as it seems aboard the Marathon. Among other problems, Durandal has gone rampant and appears to be playing the humans against the Pfhor to further his own mysterious agenda.

Seventeen years after the events of the first game, in Marathon 2: Durandal, the artificial intelligence, Durandal, sends the player and an army of ex-colonists to search the ruins of Lh'owon, the S'pht homeworld. Lh'owon was once described as a paradise but is now a desert world after first the S'pht Clan Wars and then the invasion by the Pfhor. He does not mention what information he is looking for, although he does let it slip that the Pfhor are planning to attack Earth, and that being on Lh'owon may stall their advance. Marathon 2 brings many elements to the game that can be considered staples of the series such as: a Lh'owon-native species known as F'lickta, the mention of an ancient and mysterious race of advanced aliens called the Jjaro, and a clan of S'pht that avoided enslavement by the Pfhor - the S'pht'Kr. At the climax of the game, the player activates Thoth, an ancient Jjaro AI. Thoth then contacts the S'pht'Kr, who in turn destroy the Pfhor armada.

Marathon Infinity, the final game in the series, includes more levels than Marathon 2, which are larger and part of a more intricate plot. The game's code changed little since Marathon 2, and many levels can be played unmodified in both games. The only significant additions to the game's engine were the Jjaro ship, multiple paths between levels, a new rapid-fire weapon that could be used underwater, and vacuum-enabled humans carrying fusion weapons (called "Vacuum Bobs" or "VacBobs"). The player traverses multiple timelines, attempting to find one in which the W'rkncacnter is not freed. In one timeline, the player is forced to destroy Durandal, and in another Durandal merges with Thoth. At the end of the game, an ancient Jjaro machine is activated that keeps the W'rkncacnter locked in the Lh'owon sun.

You mean the "darn"?

HOLY SHIT @ level 6 and 7. The lighting in level 7 is AMAZING.
(riding the back of a mongoose reminded me of the spiderbikes on Tattooine in Return of the Jedi!)
I don't want this game to end.

Only 2 more chapters after this :(

That thing that looks like a planet is actually a spaceship?! O_o

Yep, those two are amazing. I can't even imagine how you take out the
dual scarabs
with just one person. The technique my partner and I used should work well if we speed run it ever. :D

Rogue.............Unlock "Spartan Officer" Achievement (Advance to the Spartan Officer ranks online)

How many games do you have to win to be a Spartan Officer?

I did it on Heroic by myself. Fairly tough.

Sorry, you missed my edit. I believe that planet is Tau Ceti IV, which the spaceship Marathon is orbiting around.

That's true, it is just a theory, but all the insinuation....all for naught? I'd wager I have a more substantial argument than you do, based on comments from Alex Seropian.

I just beat the game on Heroic, and it was pretty easy to do.

My Hornet skills took care of both of them.
