Quick question I could probably find easy, but I found a skull but I didn't "claim" it. How do you pull that off?
Not all skulls give you an achievement. Go to the campaign lobby and hit X. You'll have the skull's option there, but you'll notice that the skill is silver. You only get an achievement for finding a gold skull.

I've now finished the first 2 levels and played about 30 minutes of multiplayer.

Good god was this game overrated.

Don't get me wrong, its a great game, but its not 9.5 or 10 great.

To me it feels a lot like Halo 2.5. The graphics aren't all that great - and I'm playing on a perfectly calibrated 720p Sammy 50" DLP before I get the obligatory, "its your TV".

I don't know, but it just feels so much like Halo 2. I was expecting a bigger leap into next-gen for the Halo franchise.

I never really got into Halo 2 multiplayer all that much. I only played it a few times a week for maybe 2 months and I'll be damned if the first matchmaking map I got into in Halo 3, reminded me so much of a map I'd played a ton of on Halo 2. Hell it was probably the same one. I dunno, I just never really understood how Halo was god's gift to the multiplayer genre. Its fun, but its also frustrating. I prefer multiplayer games where if I shoot a mother fucker in the face 6 times point-blank, he'll go down instead of shooting me a few times and killing me.

I've got all the skulls except
Cowbell
and
I would have been your daddy

Anyone know where they are?

Keep playing. They don't thrust you headfirst into the most epic encounter you've ever seen in your life in the first two levels. That comes later.

No really, it does.

These are the only ones I haven't found, too.

QFT! This game gets crazy in the later levels and I'm just starting the 7th mission.

i think the graphics are very nice in the campaign, i just dont see how anyone could think otherwise. some people just have to nitpick everything instead of enjoying it i guess.

Anyone kind of disappointed in the soundtrack? I'm on mission 8 and I have yet to have heard an original piece from the game. It seems everything I hear is a remix of something I've heard from Halo 1 or 2. I want some good original pieces like: Under Cover of Night from Halo 1 or In Amber Clad from Halo 2. I hope with multiple playthroughs I'll be able to discover more original pieces but so far, color me unimpressed.

haha just stepped out of the game, online co-op is sweet.

I loved the voicing of the Red vs. Blue guys talking about the password.

I have only played a couple minutes of campaign so far as I promised to play through with a mate of mine on thursday. It looks great so far. When you are following everyone at the start and they run through the water, fucking wow.

Played some Halo multi though for the first time though and it was fab. Driving a warthog with another another man on the gun is great fun. Tearing through maps on a mongoose is terrific as well. Cant wait to get one of them in campaign. Also does the warthog seem easier to drive now?

If anyone wants to play multi i will be on most nights between 8 and 11pm Perth time (+8 GMT) feel free to add me (GT: rickshaws). I dont have a head set yet but will get one this weekend.

I certainly thought that I heard one or two original pieces so far. I'm on the 7th mission and I honestly couldn't tell you where I heard them but I remember getting all excited over some new tune. I can't wait for the soundtrack.

Omg. I just realized I've spent the last two hours doing nothing but answering questions in this thread. I don't know if that's good or bad. : /

I claim the title "Bungie Fanboy Extraordinaire" and respectfully bow out for the time being, in order to go pick up Applebee's takeout.

So not every level has one... Do you have a list of the levels that have a Terminal?
Google it.
I think it's on some of the Achievement websites.

Got some pics uploaded. Can you only have six uploaded at a time or am I using the wrong menu? I used the file share option.

Just completed the campaign on Legendary with a friend. Total Playtime: 10 hours and 36 minutes.

What a great game, and the ending...especially after the credits, was excellent.

Stopped playing today at Mission 6(Heroic) and damn. This game is freaking amazing. Some of the stages look so fucking amazing. Unreal. People who say it doesn't look good haven't either got to those levels or don't have an HDTV because I was blown away.

Wow, Halo 3 really is taking stuff around Live down with it. I can't log in to Xbox.com (no option), Major Nelson's site is just plain down. Yikes.

Yeah Live was crawling for me about 45 minutes ago when I was on. About a 3-5 second delay to do anything on my friend's list or access any other menu

So i'm having a rough time trying to add a guest locally to play on live with me.

Basically have one gold account and want to play with two people on one screen ( my gold account and him logged in as a guest he doesnt have a live account of his own ) is this at all possible with Halo 3 or does everyone need their own live account??

If it is possible could ya lay out what steps i need to take to do so, tried everything we could think of ( non ranked, etc.)

I noticed that too, I thought it was my internet being slow at first. D:

I have a question by the way. I'm at mission 6 and
so did we go through that portal the Ark made? Also, where did it take me to? What did we land on exactly, it said Installation 00 but isn't that the first Halo ring? Also please don't spoil anything after the 6th level! Thanks

Is Live down now or something?

Just got the game, my initial impressions are not very favorable..hopefully it gets better...

No, live is REALLY stressed at the amount of traffic the game has generated.

And about peeps complaining about the weapons sound muffled

maybe its because MC is wearing a helmet..thus making the sounds muffled ?

Boy, this game really weeds out the graphic whores in gaming, dontcha know.

Fun > Sooper HD Grafix anyday of the week.

even Bungie.Net can't keep an accurate count of current online players

probably over 150,000 online right now

earlier the game was saying there was over 300,000 players online

The people claiming Halo 2.5 must be playing on SDTVs. I just played some at my friend's house and the game looks really bad on SDTV. This game shows probably one of the biggest SD to HD improvements of any game ever. It looks so similar to Halo 2 in SD for some reason.

OK, what is the deal with not being able to watch my own damned films? I've got no parental settings turned on in my 360, and my age is in my passport account. So what gives?

Tsavo Highway rocks man what a great level.
Yes. Not only is it really well designed and has a lot of great vehicle segments and combat scenarios, but it is such a gorgeous environment. I'll be taking some awesome screens tomorrow.

Have you played Gears or Bioshock? Halo 3 is actually one of the least visually appealing game I've played on my 360 in months (even though it has great art). I'm playing it in 720 though, and the jaggies are my biggest gripe.

Still looks really nice though, especially in the later levels with the HDR and such.

I finally get home from work....I've been thinking about playing this all day long....I close the shades, turn off my phone, crank up my stereo, put the disc in, the Bungie logo appears and then......RROD.

lol

*sigh*

10PM Launch Day:

Halo 3 Players Online:
536

Unique Players (Last 24 Hours):
817,721

Matches Logged (Last 24 Hours):
2,653,652

UNSC Campaign Kill Count:
196,339,157

What the hell is happening?

Multiplayer seems a lot slower than Halo 2, and I'm not feeling any of the maps besides a couple. Where are the smaller, more competitive maps Bungie? :(

Maybe try 1080i? My TV handles 1080i better than 720p so I always use this setting, but I'm really not seeing a lot of jaggies. Maybe there's a difference between the way it renders p and i or something, can't hurt to try at least.

They hit 162,000 players online at once last night, with no issues. But that was just the midnight launch, and just the US. Europe is coming online now, and the midnight launch was just a fraction of what would be sold during the day today in the US. I'm guessing well over 250k.

Ironic part is, E from the Live operations team said the last server upgrade was to get ready for Halo 3. They hit 1.5m million pre-orders in NA alone so they should have known this was coming.
