I'm only on the second mission but from what I've played, these 2 missions alone KILL anything in Halo 2. great job bungie
The first two are probably the best in the game, you shouldn't really bother with the rest unless you can stomach aliasing.

Ok, I'm having screen tearing while playing 2 player versus on Epitaph. I tried it on Isolation but didn't notice anything as significant as Epitaph.

Anyone else getting this? Look at the top part of the top half. I get it when I spin around in circles.

*snip*
Normally I can spot screen tearing pretty easily, but I don't see it in any of these pics. All I see are some AA issues.

Need some help, basically I have Halo setup and have been playing I am signied into my bungie.net account but there is no evidence of me playing online and I keep getting this message when I try to access my Halo 3 area.

Halo 3 Service Record Not Found

We were not able to find any record of Halo 3 activity for this player. This player may not have played Halo 3 while connected to Xbox Live.

Try visiting this player's Bungie.net Profile or Halo 2 Games List to see if they are a memeber of the Bungie community or if they've played Halo 2.

Any ideas? It's probably something really stupid im missing. I just basically want my stats to update and show online.

There are massive tears in all the pictures, it took me a while to notice as well.

Holy crap the audio on my new HDTV sucks. I noticed things sounded "off" in Bioshock, but having played the game on another HDTV (Aquos) yesterday, I'm floored. I can barely hear the music, all the sound effects lack "punch" and lots of them are entirely inaudable. The AR sounds like a whisper; even my old SDTV made it sound powerful. Not sure if I've got it configured wrong or what, but it's almost unplayable since I can't make out most of what's going on.

Crap.

link your gamertag/bungie.net and XBL are shivering like a funky junky right now

Ok...I know this has been asked before. But I took a couple screenshots and uploaded them to my file share. I can download them off Bungie.net if I wanted to. But when I go into "Recent Screenshots" it says I haven't taken any. What do I do?

Live/B.net are having problems right now. Matchmaking is down and parts of the Marketplace are unavailable. Give it a bit.

I hear there are 9 missions. Does anyone have a list of the missions? I want to make sure I am on the 8th mission. You will want to black out the list or PM me. I'm sure someone will see it as a spoiler.

Yeah, I am signed in and connected my gamertag. I was playing H2 earlier today and thats updated fine.

I'm pretty sure I've linked it properly, because of the Halo 2 stats. Also did notice Live was being a bit funny earlier, maybe that has something to do with it otherwise I don't know what the hell is going on..

Ta for the replies.

erm, you connected your windows live ID today? or do you mean you had your gamertag connected prior because of H2?

ive always had my gamertag connected because of H2, but today i had to connect the live ID for halo3...then it updates and combines both or something.

For the final time, and this time in bold for greatness:

Xbox Live (and therefore Bungie.net) currently has some 'issues' namely the fact that it's barely working. Xbox.com, My Xbox, B.net, Xbox Live Arcade and the Xbox Live service itself all seem to be affected. Expect stuff to not be working.

There.

So much for B.net being able to hold up to launch day pressures. :lol

No worries Bungie, we love you anyway.

Good news on the later levels front. Can't wait to play it...only 11 hours or so to go!

thats great and all, but I just did what I was talking about 3 minutes ago, and it was working fine, and I was browsing through some of my friends profiles as well. so, B.net is somewhat working for me.

You're using your TV for audio? Didn't you get a budget HDTV? One of the first things to go when they cut costs on TV is any sort of decent speakers. You really should be running a 5.1 setup anyway. I know you're price conscious, but even a shitty $200 5.1-in-a-box setup will give you better sound than the most expensive of TVs.

That's tearing, and that's messed up. I believe I've seen that fixed through screen/resolution settings... try fiddling with your 360's display settings. 720p is really the ideal setting for Halo 3, the tearing could be as a result of the 1080 upscaler. Afraid I'm not an expert, sorry. (Whatever happened to standard resolutions and plug and play consoles? Sigh.)

As for other stuff...

There is an issue currently under investigation with matchmaking. I expect there's a blazing server in a datacenter somewhere. Top men are on it.

"Unable to use user generated content" is a parental control. IMO, it's silly, but it's an XBL requirement.

Man, what's the deal with the 5.1 sound mix? The gun volume is so low. It appears they mixed the guns across the entire front sound stage so turning up your center channel levels does basically nothing. I had to turn up the decibel count almost 10-fold across the front speakers just to get some oomph from my guns. The beta had the same problems but they weren't as bad because there wasn't music present to drown out the guns.

Can this be patched? This is the only game on either next-gen console that I've had this problem with.

Sounds more like your sound system is the problem. Might want to check what sound settings it is on. Mine is on Cinematic Movie mode and I can hear the guns just fine. When I switched it to surround mode, I could barely hear the guns being fired.

Just got done with
the first encounter with the flood. Holy shit! They are even tougher then in part 2. Also liked that new flood enemy that transforms into a big ass mofo!

This game is just kicking my ass! Played on heroic last night and got stuck on the second stage
(2nd encounter, area where you face off against a shit load of Brutes)
. Finished it today with some help from my friend. Game is brutal and I can tell the marked improvement with the AI. They seem to work as a unit better then the last one. Great job Bungie!

Oh and the cinematics, though not mind blowing, is just topped notched(dialog, camera, and voice acting). It really feels like Im in a desperate war.

You guys are gonna pass the Smash thread by the end of the day.

Just got home with my Collector's Edition. Opened it and there were only a few scratches so I decided to stick with it. The case was really crappily made though. Ugh.

Anyway, running the Bonus Disc before playing the game first to use the calibration tool isn't going to pop out huge spoilers on me right?

:eek :(

The sound really is terrible. Like, I don't-want-to-play-it terrible. None of the ~10 reviews I read for the TV ever mentioned sound problems.

Monkey nuts. Time to dig around. The wife is going to just LOVE this one.

My 360 is connected via HDMI and set to 720p. I have a Samsung LNT3253H with 1020 firmware. :(

Can anyone test this out? Try playing on Epitaph with 2 players connected, have player 1 (top half) spin around and tell me if you notice anything. Lines, artifacts, anything. I'd appreciate any help. Thanks!

Then thats the mixdown, not the sound-system.

If Rainbow Six guns sound like they're being fired in my living room, then Halo guns should at least sound like they're being fired somewhere in my neighbourhood but they sound so weak and distant instead.

i cant play matchmaking. :( somethings wrong.

and why did bungie take my emblem away? it was in h2, it was in the h3 beta, and yet theyve removed it. it looked sort of like the current delta emblem.

You guys are quick! Also, is there a way to set split screen co-op to side-by-side? The 360 at my school had some guys playing co-op (I wanted to play but they got there first ;_;) and I noticed that it shrunk the overall screen down so the top and bottom screens didn't look stretched.

The only thing I think the game is lacking is a sprint button after having played CoD4. I think it's more important to be able to sprint in Halo with the size of the maps. Sure there are vehicles but half the time some other dick has taken off with your transport honking at you as they leave and you're left trudging through pig shit for halfway of the map. If it would hurt the dynamics of a Halo firefight limit it to a couple of sprints per kill so you can still get to where you want to get at a speed you'd like to get there but you're not disrupting the Halo feel too much until you get another kill. I don't know if that would work but I'm missing a sprint button. :( I seem to remember a rumour back when Halo 2 was coming out about a sprint feature but that never came to fruition. :( :(

As usual, there's a trade off between price and quality. It would be great if you could spend $1000 on a proper 5.1 setup, but seeing as how that probably isn't an option, a 5.1-in-a-box setup is a viable alternative, especially when your other option is tinny TV speakers.

Do you have a decent pair of headphones? You might try that as an alternative.

My $300 HTiB is handling the sound just fine.

Yeah, I have a nice 5.1 system, but I definately prefer to use headphones when I'm playing alone.
