People buying strategy guides. Disgraceful.

I saw someone buying a Test Drive Unlimited strategy guide and literally the moment they stepped outside, a piano fell on their head. And, dude, this thing was falling SLOWLY. Everyone, EVERYONE, was like "DUDE! FUCKING PIANO! LOOK UP, YOU CLOD!" and he's just, what's the word, clucking his tongue? You know when you make that clicking sound in your mouth? He's doing that, and walking with his elbows jutting out, real cariacature-like.

And he was just doomed, you know? Nothing we could do.
I told the Gamestop guy that strategy guides are for pussies, and added that it's all about GameFAQS. :D

:lol I wish, I'll be getting mine from my local HMV at midnight. They have 3 Legendary that are on a first come first serve basis. Don't know if I'll be there early enough though.

I wish you the very best of luck. What is a cat if it does not have a hemlet, right?

:lol

Are there people around here still without a copy of Halo 3?

If so, we should totally start a club.

Hey, count me in, still waiting on delivery, at this rate it looks like I might not be Halo'd up until Thursday D:

Just got to the part where
the ship with the flood crashes
and holy shit at the lighting, once again HALO 2HD my ass. Also the music in the level is very tense, the constant thumping sets a good mood.

So far loving the single player.

Yep. I, of all people, still don't have the game yet, either. I should pick it up earliest by, sadly, today afternoon. Gamestop can suck my balls by the way.

I'm still waiting for my $45.98 copy from FamilyVideo.com. Shipped via Media Mail on Friday so hopefully it'll show up today or tomorrow. I'm a cheap ass...so I wait. :D

The Legendary version is still in stock at Amazon.com:
http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Halo-3-Legendary-Edition/dp/B000K8ZTK8/

And :lol @ you guys ripping on people for buying strat guides when some of you paid $130 for the Legendary. There's nothing wrong with either - people make their own choices based on their level of fandom. Maybe they just want to read about the game on the can?

Man, I must suck at Halo because I'm playing on Heroic and I am having my arse handed to me towards the end of the first level where
you have to save the sergeant. Christ, everywhere I turn a dozen enemies including a brute or two and a barrage of sniper fire pop up and riddle me with bullets.

I think I'll restart on normal.

Yeah, I only have on strategy guide, and it's the Final Fantasy VII one... in Japanese.

I kinda view the books as art repositories or neat souveneirs to fawn over while pooping.

I'm getting mine on thursday morning...you know....Japan and stuff. Yay me. :(

LOL, thing is I work with a guy who waited in line for 6 hours. Works right down the way from me.

Difference between us is the children. I have two kids, he has none. Otherwise I probably would have been out there with him with all the other losers.

I decided to join the Midnight Madness and stroll over to my local game store to pick a copy up. A level playing field is a beautiful, almost magical thing, and I knew that this unique moment in history would last mere hours before the all-nighters took their rightful place pwning casual players like me.

I slotted the disk at precisely 12:38am and forwent both the single player and the manual. The game was kind enough to inform me that there were over 17 thousand players already on board, just under 3 thousand in the Basic Training, or novice stage. Getting into my first match was relatively painless. It was just four players but it gave me the chance to explore the cool map and get acquainted with the rather well done controls. Better yet, for the first time in my life I came in first place... well, tied for first place with 14 kills before the timer ran out. VICTORY! I fittingly came in second place in my second match with 18 kills to the leader's 25. I played a few more games and did well for myself, but never again was able to recapture the win and heap glory upon my name.

So it was totally worth the midnight stroll in order for a casual player like me to enjoy the game without being annhillated every 5 seconds. Who knows? Perhaps I'll give the game sufficient attention to shuck off my noob status.

I saw 5 people buying the Legendary and a guide book (wtf?)

It's amazing what you can sell people these days.

Makes me weep for the future.

:lol

I had no intention of buying a guidebook, but the wife bought one for me while she was waiting in line for four hours. So, I'm one of them...

Anyway, I've beat the first level. The ecounters are just huge. Everything seems to be bigger and badder.

I have a job. You just need to suck it up and deal with only getting 4 hours of sleep.

:lol

I was gonna suggest that the TPWJC was more for people who own the game but can't play until the weekend due to their jobs/school.

The words "around here" insinuated little else to do than hang out at GAF. Although it is surprising how many still manage to do this while at work.

Yeah, I did that for Halo 2 only to find out later that day how absolutely unnecessary it all was. After staying up all night I went out for lunch, half asleep, and saw that I could've walked into practically any store and picked up the collectors edition. No more I say.

*please Jesus don't let this bite me in the ass*

Some quick tips, if you are having trouble.

Mid range weapons are the go to piece of the puzzle this time around. Anything up close should get meleed.

Get an angle, when marines charge the front, see if you can get to the side to get a shot on that phalanx of .

Snipers are a bitch, first thing, scan the skyline for that blue dot, those should always be the first target.

Seriously, melee stuff, it's powerful.

Use the needler, anything short of a chieftan it will wreck.

Don't charge in, let the conflict form before you attack, this way your marines can either soften them up, or lure them out.

Priotize targets, taking out a brute will give you reprise from the fire from the grunts.

Hope those help :)

A lot of us have jobs in the IT industry where we are sitting in front of the PC all day, and have down time.

:lol I did that, but skipped playing it and went to bed as soon as I got home.

Ok, so I don't want spoilers as I didn't get a chance to plow through the game last night. A few of my friends, however, finished the campaign on Heroic in about 5 hours. Is this really how long it is? A simple yes or no will work. But if so...how can it be so farkin' short?

The more and more I play the single player campaign, the more I'm wowed by the graphics. The lighting hit my weak spot for Massive Erection. This is the first game I ever stopped playing just to pull out my digital camera and take pictures.

Cheers Bungie, so far I'm lovin every minute of the SP campaign.

09/25/2007 6:36 A.M. ARRIVAL SCAN

My LE just came!!!! Luckily I was here, Fedex rang the doorbell, left the package at the door and was ghost. I took the un-packing pics for my Flickr account, one lil surprise I didn't see anywhere else. I will post soon.

for everyone who hasnt bought the game yet, dont buy the Limited Edition or Legendary for that matter since it has the LE in it.

i waited in a line of 150 people last night and when i got through the door they were opening up every copy of the LEs and then switching the games with copies of the regular version.

every single Limited Edition box is flawed and all the discs were scratched up. the manager replaced my disc with a disc from the regular version and i got home, and then realized theres more than one disc in the package. he obviously didnt swap out the bonus disc which too was scratched up like hell.

now i'm probably going back to the store and just asking for refund and just gonna get a regular edition.

wow Microsoft, wow. cant even have a good launch for your biggest game.

I went to bed at 2:00 and woke up at 8:00 (I have more fun playing a game when awake) also, I just got to the end of Chapter 2 and all I can say is OMFG.

Legendary has the legendary version in it. Only the legendary press kits had the limited tin in them.

I had the same problem getting
onto and over the bridge. My advice is to hang out in that little half demolished shed opposite the stairs leading onto the bridge. Shoot any grunts that come in and use the plasma pistols to get rid of the annoying snipers (plasma pistols are surprisingly effective at long range) and the other grunts hanging around the courtyard. Deal with the big brutes with the brute shot if you have it. Once you're across the bridge
it's plain sailing.

What are you talking about? The legendary is fine, we've known for a couple days it ONLY affects the limited and not everyone is experiencing it. You could just open it there and depending on the outcome act accordingly...

I played a couple of hours last night. Goddamn, the music is incredible. So far it's stood out much more so than the previous two games for me.
