Yeah, that was me. I recently switched to try it out. I used Green Thumb before this. It's going pretty well. Kind of hard to shoot then melee, though.
You might have explained this already, but I definitely missed it.

Why exactly did you choose to switch? Because it's the 'cool' thing to do now ;)?

I am so torn about switching... I can see the benefit in Bumper Jumper, but I can't imagine playing Halo 1 and looking like a complete idiot when I am forced to play using Green Thumb again.

Dax01 said:
You should. That would be a hilarious read.
Indeed, it'll be the first thing I do when I get home :P

Yeah those are just extra blocks. When building the base I just laid down a bunch of double blocks outlining the size and shape I wanted...

Ah, that all makes sense. I was really hoping that pile of blocks wasn't something you'd intentionally built. :lol

I haven't "switched" yet, but the main reason why I'm trying out Bumper Jumper is because of ODST. You can't dual-wield in ODST, so no worries there, and the zoom is on the stick - the amazing pistol (also a lot easier than pressing "B").

I am so torn about switching... I can see the benefit in Bumper Jumper, but I can't imagine playing Halo 1 and looking like a complete idiot when I am forced to play using Green Thumb again.
That was my main concern too, but then I realized (well, am hoping) that once I go back to Halo: CE, my instincts will kick in and I won't have much trouble. Kind of like going from one FPS (Bad Company, for instance) back to Halo.

Indeed, it'll be the first thing I do when I get home :P
Sweet.

I got an idea, play with whatevers comfortable, who cares if its sensitivity 1 or 10. Or Green Thumb Inverted Retard, or BumperHalo.

Fine, I will use Legacy Southpaw Auto Look Center.

Thanks for the advice juices.

Wow, the ODST episode of GTTV isn't airing for a while. They film these episodes a month in advance?

Damn, that's still like, 20 days away. Better be some good footage, like in-depth looks at every single Firefight map.

I don't even want to think about switching my control settings. I'm having enough trouble jumping between Left 4 Dead and Halo 3, so much so that it's put me off a little. Going in to melee someone and you end up bouncing a frag grenade off their face :lol That type of embarrassment is hard to live down.

Unless it knows if you were a level 50 once(I don't know what ranks any of you have gotten to), but I doubt that.

I'm the opposite, actually. I can remember the control scheme of every game, but when I change to another scheme in one game, I totally freak out and don't know what button is which. :lol

Yeah, none of us have ever been 50s in MLG, so I don't know what Truskill was thinking!

I got on late last night so everyone was off. I tried MLG to get it up in level since I hadn't really played that game type. Was only level 9 so figured I should breeze up quickly. Wrong. I remember why I quit playing for a long time, randoms stress me the hell out. Virtually every match I had at least one teammate quit before the match even started and in an objective game, that's a big deal. Then I get a slayer match and one of my teammates is just commiting suicide non-stop, apparently it subtracts points in MLG. Who de-levels below level 10? You are low enough. If I don't get one of these occurences, then I find myself being the only one with a positive kill/death ratio on my team or it's objective and none of my teammates have the slightest clue how to play. Especially TeamBall, I cringe when I see that gametype now. After all those matches I was only able to go up one level to 10 and that's with +19 and +12 k/d ratio performances. That should have been at least two level ups at that low a level. sigh.

If they're deleveling they might be doing that just to beat people that are new going into the playlist. Maybe it should've been set up that it just takes you longer to rank up if you lose, with only a 1-3 level drop maximum from your highest level, or something.

They are probably working on making Boosters to help others hit their MLG 50. A reason why PAST games shouldn't count. H2's ranking system was better.

HaloGAF I need your help. I can't save campaign progress anymore. I'll choose "Save and Quit" but the game never saves anything. It always starts the level right back at Mission Start. I tried different levels and different settings, but the outcome is always the same. I always wait for the game to get back to the main menu before quitting to the dashboard or going into multiplayer. I thought at first it might be the fact that I plugged in a memory card in addition to my hard drive, but I just restarted the game without the memory card and still nothing. I use to be able to save my progress just fine, this just started happening within the past couple months. And it's really screwing with my attempts to beat the game on Legendary solo. So HaloGAF, any ideas that could fix this problem?

Have you tried saving in other games? Try popping in something else and saving. Might have to reformat the hard drive but I'd troubleshoot a bit first.

I'm sure it's for boosting but that level was low enough top play with new accounts. D-bags, all of them. I don't understand the point of getting a 50 if it isn't legit. You can't even brag because the second you play a match, you'll be exposed. 50 isn't impressive anyway, if I started a new account it'd be a breeze. Alas, Trueskill is anything but and makes it virtually impossible to go up if you've played a bunch of matches in different game types. You're essentially punished for playing in variety. Damn you MU effect! I'll probably try one more time and if I get the same experience, I'll refuse to play ranked anymore unless I'm with a party. Just seems people aren't on at the same time or the room is full. One day. One day. End rant.

Double posters aren't allowed to have fun in playlists and get no sympathy.

Edit: Look, I'm so damn cool I went back to reply to storm in a previous post. Stupid double posters.

Yeah, I thought you might comment on it storm and I was even going to quote the last time you said it and add to it but rather just went with this to beat you to the punch. :)
Same for me with cheaters... as you might have gleamed from ym post complaining about them.

You beat me to it. :)

I can't stand people who cheat in video games. I mean, why would you ever want to do that? You want to artificially increase your epeen? Cheating can't be fun, I mean, either constantly killing yourself or pressing the stand by button and killing non moving targets. I just don't understand.

Double post is when you post the same thing twice in a row by accident, I was addressing seperate issues ;) I'll happily post multiple times in succession over having to copy/paste several different messages. Besides, that just means you guys aren't doing your part to keep the board moving ;)

No... not really. Either having the same message posted twice or even two completely unrelated posts in succession is considered 'double posting' and is not condoned... well, at least everywhere I've been on the internet.

Really? I have yet to see a site where this hasn't occured often, including GAF. In any case, it's rather silly so I don't intend on honoring it. I will however, make sure I don't have same messages posted twice in succession.

Where in the world do you live that your home set-up is better then a Movie Theater?

I lived in Whitehorse, Yukon... That town was tiny and in the middle of nowhere; but the theater was still miles better then anything I could ever have in my place.

Edit: YES! Go google!

Here is a picture of aforementioned theater.

Well in terms of picture clarity, 1080p BR home theater always beats seeing a movie in theaters, at least for me.

What's the official date? Wiki says the international release date was the 13th, yesterday. Checking the cinema listings there's not even a whisper of D-9.

Well that is just setting yourself up for a world of trouble. A lot of people detest successive posts when there is clearly an edit option available.
It'd be wise not to take the 'B.B' attitude in my opinion.

Edit: *sad face* I've only ever watched movies in resolutions of up to 720p. I want to see the glory of 1080p.

Whaaa? The reason BR quality is so much higher than DVD is that it holds a higher storage capacity which allows the movie to be stored without being compressed so much from it's original state. The theater has a copy of the actual film so it's not compressed at all, I believe and therefore is always of the highest quality. Perhaps you've adjusted some of the configurations on your HDTV and made the display brighter or darker and prefer to see movies that way?

WOOHOOOOOOOO!

Finally got Mongoose Mowdown! Woo! Got a Killing Spree and was trying to get Killing Frenzy, but somebody killed me before I had a chance in the Ghost I was using. Bah.

Is it really that hard to not get aggravated by someone posting a whopping two posts in a row? You act like I filled up half a page for crying out loud. If I'm only addressing two people I suppose I could make the effort to just copy and paste one more quote, but seriously, you guys are making a mountain out of a molehill.

Really? Didn't realize there was a limit on this site. Quit trying to start an argument.

If it takes a measurable amount of 'effort' for you to copy and paste something.... never mind, best I stay out of this whole mess.

Haha no sir, two people is no big deal. I just didn't want to do it for several people at once. I didn't notice you can scroll down and see previous messages though, I thought I'd have to open seperate tabs for each person (I'm on here at work and multi-tasking). So I apologize for missing some of the obvious.

The point is that it takes very little effort to click edit and indeed everyone else abides by what is really for the most part an unspoken rule but you refuse to much to the annoyance of others. That's just a tad audacious in my mind.

Anyway, sorry I didn't mean to start an arguement. I just dislike the whole "I don't care if others condone or not, I'll do what I want" attitude and that is how you were coming off to me.

Then again... my 'audacious' comment was entirely sincere at the time.

No worries, man. I haven't familarized myself with edit beyond that I can correct a grammar mistake, etc. I bounce back and forth between this and doing work so I haven't looked too far into all the nuances. I apologized for my ignorance, I just didn't like the way I as being addressed. Enough with this nonsense, back to your regular Halo program.

Edit: Firefight Bonus Round

BWU said:
You already know about the Waves, the Sets, and the Rounds in Halo 3: ODST’s all new, super awesome, gonna-so-play-the-blam!-out-of-this-when-it-drops-on-9/22/09 Firefight mode, right? If not, you aren’t quite ready to proceed. You’re still need to complete the training. Get yourself up to speed, take a few seconds to figure out the how the new Firefight hotness works, and then stop on back when you’ve been learned real good. And before you say it, yes I am the boss of you.

Ready?

No, you're not. Firefight’s Bonus Round is a spectacularly crazy concoction of Grunts, Skulls, points, and extra lives all piled up into an mountain and carnage, craziness, and plasma grenades. Lars tells me that it was designed to give players a bit of a breather between sets, add more lives to the pool, and take out pent up frustration in the same fashion Ken and Ryu took out their rage on abandoned cars and stacks of flaming barrels. But even though it might double as a bit of a respite, this Bonus Round just might be the best sixty seconds of your Firefightin’ life. Every mean-spirited, maniacal skull is switched on, bringing with them gameplay modifiers and point multipliers that you’ll have to see to believe.

And if you find yourself in the midst of a Bonus Round, you’ve definitely earned it by completing a full Set. In Firefight, riding out fifteen Waves is a pretty impressive feat. Not only does it entail a massive quantity of all manner of Grunts, Jackals, Drones, Brutes, and Hunters for you to wade through, it also means that against all odds you’ve made it through three Waves of aggro Brute Chieftains hell-bent on Hammering and Rodding your face into so much unsavory space meat.

If you’re able to avoid becoming table scraps for some overgrown apes, you should be feeling pretty good about yourself. Pat yourself on the back a bit, but don’t take too much timeout, this is where you’re gonna claim your reward.

Take full advantage of your brief but brainpan-modified time and you'll see plenty of points piling' up. And if you manage to hit the Bonus Round benchmark set for you and your team, you’ll start earning 1ups like a mustachioed plumber with his feet full or turtle guts. (Don’t eat the mushrooms, kids.)

Since Iron is now on, one death from each member of the squad is all it takes to end your little collective fantasy voyage upon this golden but tumultuous sea of points (vomit goes over the rail, please), but should you each fall to the overwhelming forces you’re facing down during this monumental minute, you won’t have to worry about foregoing any lives from your team’s stockpile. Any deaths during Firefight’s Bonus Round won’t be subtracted from your overall pool. So, no pressure.

Since the points total required to net some extra lives differs depending on how many players you have in the mix and how many times you’ve visited the Bonus Round in each particular playthrough, we’ll let you figure out where those watermarks lie. Don’t worry too much over the details here, you’ll get a nice message in game to let you know where your target is set. Chances are you won’t have much time to do the math on the fly anyway. You’ll be far too worried about staving off the steady supply of enemies streaming your way.

There will be Grunts.

Great heaping piles of Grunts. A veritable sea of salty Grunts descending upon you like a wave of cantankerous crustaceans. And each unsavory little jerk has one singular mission swimming around in his mad and methane-addled mind: to converge on your position, lobbing an unbelievable volley of armed plasma grenades towards your head, neck, and face region. And with every skull switched on, these angry little Unggoy do a pretty good job of making you dead. Lars calls them killing machines. His advice: headshots. Stay away, keep your automag zoomed, and deliver deadly, one-shot blows as quickly and efficiently as you can. Weather this brief storm and make it rain dead rapscallions and you’ll tons of points and some much needed lives.

Godspeed. You’ll have one minute to make some magic happen. Oh, and good luck – you’re gonna need it.

Beware the Grunts!

God, I hate Lone Wolves. I really hope that in Halo: Reach, and any other multiplayer supported title that Bungie does, that any Free For All achievements would be obtainable in a Ranked or Social playlist. No more of this stupid Ranked only business. The Legendary and Mythic achievements are the way to go!

Edit: That's it, I'm done with Lone Wolves. I'm just going to fucking wait until Ranked Living Dead, but I'm sure it'll be Social Living Dead. Why there had to be achievements for Lone Wolves is beyond me.

I think we were shooting the same guy with a BR and he got the final shot. I would of had the 15th kill if the last guy didnt quit before the next round. Gahh!

Or how about no multiplayer achievements at all! Singelplayer is where its at.

Hopefully seeing District 9 tonight will make me feel better. Or maybe it'll make me mad that the Halo film was never made by this director.
