BTW, since I've seen Luke and Shishka post on here many a time in the past... I've long held a question regarding rank in matchmaking. The purpose of the rank is to match up with players of a similar skill level yes? Then why the deus does the game go off of whether or not your team wins rather than the individual effort? I can't begin to count how many times I've been the MVP of a match and still went down a level. I would understand the concept of a team effort, but you can't control that with randoms and we aren't all fortunate enough to have friends of similar skill level wanting to play at the same time we would like to. That's actually what ruined matchmaking for me, I kept getting people on my team that would end up with a high negative k/d spread, people that betray you, or people that walk away from the controller. It's frustrating to have defeated so many Generals and witness kids I just destroyed the previous night having gone up in level the following night while I go down. I can't help but think it isn't balanced and something is amiss...or I just have the worst luck of all time in getting matched up with teammates.
Finished with my rant, I shouldn't have to bitch that much again haha Just always wanted to know why the system is set to team instead of individual and thought I could get an answer from the guys that make it happen. Yes, I do know of Lone Wolves but I find team play far more fun (when you have proper teammates).
Notice how he tells all the juniors to play with us. He's too cool to play Haloz.urk said:Hook up with some of the dudes here. Play some Halo with 'em too.

It seems like whenever Bungie goes out of their way to make a "boss battle" they end up tripping over themselves. And while boss battles traditionally don't work in FPS games, Bungie should've been able to nail it with Halo 3. Why? Scarabs.Plywood said:Well that's all on Bungie's part. Can they not do Boss Battles?
I use to think they were horrible, then I played Foundry and Blackout.kylej said:high ground spawns. wow
Well, it should be difficult but not impossible to rank up (like it was in Halo2). Weren't almost all players above level 40 modders and standbyers?Striker said:I use to think they were horrible, then I played Foundry and Blackout.
Also, Halo 2's rank system was certainly not perfect, but after their first initial patch, it was a great setup. Your very good players were mostly 25-35, above that were the elite players in the respective category. It was a challenge to rank up in the system and once you reached a certain level by standards, I felt it was fairly accomplishing. Halo 3's? Not very so at all. Hopefully if Reach is your standard Halo FPS, we get something very similar to the Halo 2 system ranks.
that laser triple kill was ridiculous.Stormtrooper30 said:Halo 3 Spawntage

I generally just randomly fall out of my Banshee because Bumper Jumper and Banshees don't mix well. But it really works well if you remember the configuration.DiabolicalBagel said:Also, yeah. I'd like to see that banshee vid. Good to see I'm not the only one constantly killing myself with my own banshee. :lol

:lolDiabolicalBagel said:Yup, me too. "HAH! That fool thinks he can win?! Watch as my green wrath rains down upon him!" *presses B* "Aww, fuck."
The icing on the cake of course is when that same banshee gets hit my a hog, bouncs off a tree and explodes in my face causing another of my 'halo hates me' downfalls.
Banshees can be fun like that.Jroderton said:My roommate ended up flying a banshee too low and started getting jacked but the guy died so my friend started riding the beat up banshee like a boogy board down the creek on Valhalla. Idk how that happened. :lol

The ability to actually, finally, truly edit and create maps would be just wonderful enough that I might never play another game.
(And yes, I realize interface/controls are probably the biggest obstacle, but special bonus if we can hook up a keyboard and mouse).
i actually cant wait to finally get back into forgeZeouterlimits said:If you're asking this for H3, no.
Reach... it's a nice dream, but while hopefully forge'll be expanded upon (if it's there). If it is there I'd expect vast improvements.
I don't see why that must be considered a pipe dream. Bungie made forge as an object placer, but if they set out with the goal of delivering a full editor than they could totally do so. It won't be on the same level as PC editor with texture imports and the like but it could be above and beyond forge's tools.Butane123 said:Still would love some sort of full blown map editor, but that's just a pipe dream.
Every time I think of "kylej" I think of love and puppes and rainbows.kylej said:If you're really expecting Bungie to release a new game with the same amount of features as decade old PC games you will be disappointed. That would take way too much effort. ODST is 2 hours long and is out this fall. Preorder now.
I think with a properly maintained community playlist and a revamped player fileshare presentation they could pull it off within the framework of Halo 3's system.Striker said:I think I speak for most of us here, and say, absolutely agree. Add that to a standard Halo FPS, and wow. Allow custom search options and ability to promote your own maps, etc.
Sounds fairly reasonable. I'm no techie but the community playlist or custom game lobby should be a must for Reach. They discussed it, I believe, for Halo 3 and it ended up being axed.EazyB said:I think with a properly maintained community playlist and a revamped player fileshare presentation they could pull it off within the framework of Halo 3's system.
A simple thing that Far Cry 2 does that I feel is pretty important, is their author signatures. When a player creates a map and saves it it stamps their name under "Original Author" as well as "Author". When another players downloads that map they can still go in and change the map to their heart's desire, save it, and publish it; but that first person will always be there under "Original Author." Again, it's not a big deal, but it ensure the creator that they'll always get credit for their work.
