I was friends with so many cheerleaders in high school, like for real.

Speaking of which, I got matched up on ske7ch a while ago on Tundra. He got in last place, but our team still won!

wtf, i spent an hour laying down double walls in Skybox to make a flat, even and smooth walking floor, and when I reload my map today its like an earthquake hit and everythings misaligned. Weak!

Don't know if this has been posted yet, but it is a real good video on the Halo universe and how they managed to tie the games together, mostly Halo Wars but it has quite a bit of references to the rest of the games.

Oh, and yes it is a ******* video, and Frankie is in it. :D

edit: sounds like Shishka got owned.

Someone want to PM me the missing ******?

Edit: figured it out.

Hai Kibbles! Hope you enjoyed your Bulltrue and Killtacular!
:( Wish I was there so I can get matched up with you guys and some Bungie folk. It must be pretty exciting to be in a matchmaking playlist where you get hooked together with people you expect to/remember you have met previously.

Let’s do some analogies here since we’re doing a throwback to the good old GAF High School days
mascot: THE SPARTANS!
…

Luke and his RL friends the TJs/Urk/Shishka = Hot cheerleaders with lots of cute friends
Bungie community “average joes” = Football Jocks
Straight A Nerd = Awesome dude like FourDoor
Prom = Mythic Maps
Obnoxious Jerks = Obnoxious Jerks

The hot cheerleader and their cute friends gets to choose who they want to take to the prom. Of course they’ll pick the jocks they’ve been dating all year. And even a few lucky nerds who helped the hot chicks cheat on their Chemistry final gets to go to the prom too. :D

The Obnoxious jerk who made fun of the cheerleader in class and told her that those jeans do made her look fat gets left alone watching Netflix on their xbox Friday night…

just a minor tweak

I miss real flag throwing :(

you can't still flag throw, it isn't like it used to be but it can still be used.

Also, I totally forgot about those ridiculous flag rules in Halo 2. Touch return FTW.

Got a question for you guys and hopefully I get multiple answers to settle it.

I'm tapping on the budget's door with my map so...

Would it be okay to put grenades in a walled off area rather than spend the extra money to wall it off completely? These areas are only accessible by grenade jumping so you have to try to get there and killing yourself will be the only way out.

I got myself some awesome new maps today, so I decided I'd try and make one of my favorite maps: Warlock/Wizard: I've been at it for a good 6 or 7 hours and Its nowhere near done but here is a progress report.

First shot is an aerial shot to show th basic layout
W4.jpg

Second up is Red Base corner in its basic form
W5.jpg

Third is a view from the central platform (which doesn't have any walls or active camo yet) to Red Base again
W3.jpg

This one is from underneath one of the platforms looking at one of the ramps. Its not as roomy as Warlock but you can still stand up straight and fight.
W1.jpg

Lastly is a shot from Teleporter to Teleporter and underneath the middle platform
W2.jpg

I need to tidy up some funny angles here and there and figure out whats going on with the central platform but I'd say I'm 75% done geometry wise. After that its spawns and weapons (well, BR's and a few Carbines and Maulers/Shotguns maybe).

Now its time to go play some Mythic :D

There's nowhere else that you can pull geometry from to use? Like maybe a floor somewhere that has another block underneath that you've built over (and you could delete the hidden block)?

Don't really know what you mean. I don't remember if there were any brute shots on Turf but those are the things that can really result in people breaking out.

Looks good, how does the overall scale of the map compare to the original?

He means that you could grenade-jump into this area and then be stuck there. So he's adding grenades inside of there so that you could kill yourself if you found yourself over there.

Eh, there's really no reason to do it though. The five seconds or so it might save you are completely negated by the fact that the team knows exactly where you're running.

holy fuck bladed, that looks really fuckin good. I can't wait to play on it. wow, we gotta run some Halo 2 MLG CTF on that bitch.

Seems like if someone bothered to grenade jump into another inaccessible part of the map they did so on purpose and thus wouldn't even want to get out.

yea that's true. However when you're playing MLG, it's hardly ever about secretly running the flag, and so the boost from dropping/throwing really does help. The jump on the pit from platform to green is not possible to make WITH the flag unless you drop it, grab late and then throw it up there with yourself. The other team will always know where you're running the flag, it's just a matter of them trying to stop you. ; )

I am contemplating not leaving a weapon as a form of punishment :lol

But I'm just worried about people jumping on top of walls and hopping along the walls or something.

No, bundling them & charging 30 bucks for something that has nothing to do with Halo MP was their fault.
Where's the $30 come from?

I know it probably won't get addressed, it hasn't in any of the other flag types that I know of, but the return time is WAY too long on Sandbox. I haven't gotten to play MM flag on Assembly, but it should be 3 or 5 max, and 5 is good for Sandbox too with the way the spawns work.

The flag count should be 10 secs. or whatever is nearest to that mark for most, if not all, CTF gametypes. It's far too long right now. You can have two guys sitting on it, say in the man-cannon landing, and within seconds, you'll be met with a Warthog, and a haul of frag grenades. More than likely you'll die, and that's not how it should work. Shortening the time would be great.

A variant of CTF Classic should also be on maps like The Pit, Snowbound, Sandbox, etc. On smaller maps it is great. Variety is needed in Team Objective and Team Slayer. I also personally wouldn't mind CTF Classic added into Team Snipers for a minor weight.

Are you implying that Bungie shouldn't have given any codes out if they wouldn't be able to give codes to every single one of their fans?
So giving them out to selected (i.e. their own handouts) members on a forum is the best, balanced process to go about it? Do you really think those who didn't get them early are happy about that? "Oh, tough luck!"

I personally don't mind either way. I'm getting all of it on Tuesday.

The top mid platform on Wizard is higher than the base platform

Is there any other way to make the area under the plats higher? That looks really, really low

Look pretty nice, good job

ohhh, question for sandbox forge, are there only base markers colored red and blue, or can have other colors like Green and yellow. I ask because Warlock in H2 was set up with 4 colors.

I used a custom powerup for a yellow base and merged an overshield and cammo to get a purple/pink. No pretty lights like red and blue bet for markers it will do :P

If by Snowbound you mean Boundless you win!!!

Team Skirmish in H2 was so much more fun than Team Objective is.

My off-the-top-of-my-head Team Objective playlist:

Guardian Ball
Guardian King
Guardian 1-Flag

Pit Multi Flag
Pit Neutral Bomb
Pit King

Narrows Multi Flag
Narrows Neutral Bomb

Boundless Multi Flag
Boundless Neutral Bomb
Boundless King

Construct King

Last Resort 1-Flag
Last Resort Territories
Last Resort Assault

High Ground 1-Flag
High Ground Territories
High Ground Assault

Foundry King

Epilogue Ball

Blackout Ball

Ghost Town 1-Flag
Ghost Town Assault
Ghost Town King

Probably missing alot of cool stuff. Alot of these would depend on changes made to the maps in Forge.

Random suggestions for Matchmaking:

For Ball, take out one-hit beatdown. IMO it's too cheap, and makes Ball too easy to win.
For the Pit, take the crates for jump-ups from the MLG version.
On Guardian, I'd like to see the sniper moved to S3. That way it's easily contested.
For King, make the hills smaller... they are waaaay too big IMO.
Put rockets on Construct! It just seems natural that the map would have rocks on it...

I'm finding alot of these are based on MLG. It's because they do it right!!!

Holy shit Bladed, that map looks really nice.

After some more time in Mythic MM, I'm feeling like Assembly is probably the best Halo 3 map to date, and Orbital is a bit of a dud. Haven't gotten to play Sandbox yet, though. I did play a SWAT match on Tundra, and was not impressed.

WTF, this isn't about balance. :lol They have a limited number of codes to get maps early for free, and are giving them to whoever the fuck they want. "Balance." :lol I swear, you've been writing up The Communist Manifesto: Halo remix around here lately.

bungie there is a problem with skybox. Whenever I lay out walls on the ground of skybox to create a floor, if I put the walls next to each other and i save and exit and restart the game, they will all magically shift like an earthquake hit it creating an unplayable bumpy floor

I've not run into such events. I've had time when merged objects seem like they've been overlapped fine and without and texture hitches but when I save and reload the map the texture glitch arises but after some tweaking I've gotten rid of that consistently. I could have sworn I lined up two boxes correctly but after coming back they're off a little but that may be my memory more than it is an actual occurrence.

Why is the default layout for Sandbox so shit? Serious question.

The spawns are worse than bloody Standoff Heavy. Within 2 seconds of a spawn with BR starts and you're getting arse-raped from somewhere, still trying to get your bearings because the whole map looks the damn same.

according to those on forgehub its well known now that any wall piece placed flat on its side or wooden bridges will shift a few degrees after saving, making it impossible to create a flat floor. horrible :(

I would say that is probably a likely reason you didn't get a code. Why would they give a code to someone who will be getting the maps in the LE anyway. It would be a waste.

So you're for showing clear favoritism. I wonder if you would feel that way if you were on the other side of the fence. Or, maybe, just maybe, you look at this situation from an objective viewpoint.

Not simply me, but others, like Puma, who may not even get the LE. Or, like mentioned in a prior post, he's a meanie to folks on GAF!

I did mean Boundless, it's a simply better map than Snowbound. I do, however, disagree with Multi-CTF on Ghost Town. That actually hit Team Objective before, and if you were blue team, aka the screwed team, you're going to lose because your "base" is a couple leaves and stones.

At any rate, Team Objective does need changeups and lot of them should involve weapon starts (BR starts on bigger maps like Last Resort, for example) and map changes (boxes in the base for The Pit). If, at all, changes like these occur, is any fan in here's guess.

Leagues better than default Foundry, it's an awesome CTF map.

That wasn't the case. Sai-Kun was getting the Halo Wars LE, and he got a code.

The default variant of Sandbox surprised me. It feels like it be great for just about any amount of players. The vehicles don't overcrowd the map, and it helps make it feel like a larger scale battle, with a small number of players. They are both good for certain qualities, but default Sandbox is very nice.

That was a typo. I meant Assault.
