I've always been a big fan of the screenshot stories you guys tell here. I thought I'd give it a shot.

I call this story "Shishka's Favorite Orbital Tactic," and I nominate it to be the part of a series that should be called "Oh, Metroid!" Because it stars GAF's own Metroidvania.

As for your options, great attempt, but you fail again. Why do favoritism? Then again, it's their free right to. It just shows a lackluster when posters in here ask why they can't get them, when another one who hasn't done anything differently does.

I'll take a look after I get home tomorrow, but GAF's search engine is shit. If I have confused you with someone who you tend to agree with, I apologize for muddying the waters by misrepresenting your views.

Now, I already laid out the case for favoritism, but I'm fascinated to hear what the case against favoritism is. Your only argument against it has been that everyone should get a code, which is not actually a viable option. So do tell me, how exactly is it in Bungie's best interest to not make the people they know and who are likely to be positive about the maps a priority for getting the maps?

And hey, when you go to work tomorrow, please don't start throwing keyboards around because not everyone in your company got invited to the next conference, and people get paid different amounts of money. The economy's not doing so well.

It's a shame that interlocking objects is such a hassle. Seeing the grids on Sandbox makes me wish you could place forge objects "manually" or automatically, using the grid to place your object on the precise square you want. Obviously it's too late for that now, but I'm definitely hoping for that in the next Halo game's forge.

But nevermind me, I'm just forever upset that I'm so terrible with forge that I can't make anything I want.

I'm a poor college student too, so I know what you're going through. I don't look at it as spending $80 for the maps like some people. I look at it as spending $70 for the Collector's Edition of a game that I've really looked forward to and $10 for the maps. But it still comes out to $80, so I know what you mean.

Its almost done, but I want to redo the red base because the geometry is a little messy. Other than that, all it really needs is some spawn points and some weapons.

i hope you don't mind some constructive criticism.

the biggest problem with your map is that you have one choke point. this is fine if you only playing one v one but anything more and your ma[ quickly becomes a clusterfuck in the middle.
i would do either:
a. create a top floor and a bottom with plenty of ramps to get from one level to the other quickly. (like narrows)
b. expand your map. it is very narrow. maybe add on in front of the the landing pad for the man cannons.
c. do both.

personally i would do both with a small upper level in the very middle. this is just advice you can take or leave it just trying to be helpful

Can't imagine how pissed you are right now. There's nothing, and I mean nothing, worse than having to reforge something you've already done. I save pretty often (before making a tricky merge or saving and restarting to make something float) but even going back over 30 minutes of work is like hell.

It was meant to be much larger at the beginning, but due to budget constraints on certain parts, I didn't think I would be able to get it done. Now that the main geometry hammered out, I know I can expand the whole level a bit more.

I probably put over 20 hours into my Turf remake and spent literally all day finishing my map.

But for some odd reason, half the time I spawn in the Sky Bubble when all spawn points are in the Crypt.

I'm stumped and quite angry.

Huh, I can only guess really. I used Voc's canvas map and always spawned up top. You may want to change the gametype while in forge mode and make sure all the starting spawn points for each gametype are in the area you want to start in.

It was meant to be much larger at the beginning, but due to budget constraints on certain parts, I didn't think I would be able to get it done. Now that the main geometry hammered out, I know I can expand the whole level a bit more.

That's the way I go about making maps. I create what I believe will be an interesting play space then I build from there.

And just kept adding things. It's not the most practical method but it's fun and you can make it work if you keep the map's overall landscape in mind.

each gametype has starting spawn locations but you can only see them if you switch to that gametype in forge (press start then go to switch gametype). they will look like regular spawn points but with added effects to the top. just place those where you want people to start.

You are excusing his racism, you are condoning it, because you are saying its within his rights.

Now he's not saying you're supporting his racism, he's just pointing out that you used the worst term possible, because you effectively overlooked the guy's behaviour.

So yeah, he's right. You used the worst term. Plus we all agree that "free speech" isn't an absolute right, even the States. There are laws against Libel and Slander, for example. This topic is best reserved for another thread (in Gaming if we're talking Xbox Live/PSN...or in the OT section).

The moral of the story is that you'll be playing with and against asshats when you play Halo 3 online. You can report them, or not. It's up to you.
