From the gameindustry.biz interview this morning:

http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/bungie-our-new-ip-isn-t-tied-to-microsoft

Q: You've got three teams working on projects - is the plan for the guys that are working on Halo 3 Recon title to continue working on Halo projects after that?

Brain Jarrard: I don't think so. We've already put a couple of map packs out, we do have more maps on the way. We actually have a Mythic map pack coming out early next year. We don't have firm details or a date yet, but we do have one more map pack coming out, and then we do have some maps associated with the actual Recon retail release.

More confirmation that there are both mythic maps and recon maps and they are not the same thing.

Yeah because that's what Bungie should be remembered by forever, amirite? :(

But I love teh haloz. That's what got me into games in the first place, it was split screen MP on blood gulch with my friends. Man, I miss the good old days. Not saying that what they're working on next won't be great, I just don't want it to be the end of Bungie and Halo's relationship. :(

If Eazy isn't getting this then I will undertake the Valhalla remake
Oh snap, this is what I'm talking about. Instinct had a decent map editor but this one looks like the real deal. This editor will make amazing outdoor maps but it'll probably make garbage indoor environments.

I want Bungie's next game to take notes from Far Cry on how to do outdoor while maintaining their relatively strong indoor qualities.

As far as a Valhalla remake, I'd so fucking love to see one. There's so many damn games coming out I'm not sure how long it'll be till I get around to it. I may just pick up the game, make Valhalla, and set it down for a few months :P

And Shake, feel free to make one yourself, the more Valhalla's the merrier.

Our boy urk is all growed up now and made a buncha Bungie Blog posts with this one being my favorite: http://www.bungie.net/News/Blog.aspx?mode=news#cid15603

Being the first project to feature strict canonical adherence with no speculation (in articles), and formal, professional debates about various things in the Halo Universe, HaloBible.bungie.org is a project that seeks to index and document all aspects of Halo Canon, from books to games, etc.

The project is being headed up by some experienced and seasoned ARG/Story veterans, and they would love for you to come share your knowledge with them!

And now..

True that. But seriously, I don't think Bungie's not done with Halo. Recon is the last in the current Halo story-arc/trilogy-

They'd need to pull something crazy off to NOT be rembered as the HALO guys.

Almost as crazy as Halo: CE was when it came out during its time? ;)

But seriously, you don't know that. Don't post assumptions like that as fact.

Domino Theory said:
I wasn't. Sorry for having predictions.
assumptions, predictions, theories, whatever.
You posted it as a statement, and not otherwise. Re-read the whole thing not just the bold part.

Just keeping my facts straight, so we can speculate properly.
It's like my duty as a Bungie fan to speculate uncontrollably.
No need to confuse ourselves is all.

No seriously, has anyone bought the $65 costume? I haven't seen this at my local stores yet.

Yeah the cheap one is at Walmart, it's pretty lame.

Yeah, it's not really designed for indoor, although you can drop in pre-built structures and houses (which is what he's done for the Coag. map).

That said, you really should take a look at this if you haven't already.

http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/action/farcry2/video/6199377/far-cry-2-official-movie-361#

It's all done on the PC version, of course, which makes construction easier (they have the same functionality, but obviously it's easier to do fiddly stuff with a keyboard and mouse). Still. Mindblowing.

Everytime I see that video I get crazy ideas I can make when I pick it up. Man the editor is worth buying the game for alone. But back to Halo 3, I haven't played in a while and I guess there is a lan/tournament in my dorm on thursday, looks like I'll have to refresh myself tomorrow or so, hopefully people are on and want to play. But for now, I will bask in the glory of watching the FC2 editor.

Edit: welcome back Dani, you were missed.

not really, :p

Leak? As in leaked footage or something? I think GAF has a rule about using stuff from stolen software, usually high profile stuff before release, so I can imagine the bans being handed out in such a case, pity, is it perma? Hoping not.

Pirated / and or stolen hard copies of Gears 2.

I'm still not sure if this is why he was banned, I'm only guessing - I didn't do the 'find more posts' investigation thing.... I didn't feel like digging. Just using the timing in when he posted it, and you saying he was banned.

It would be interesting to see how Standoff plays with the lazers and warthogs removed...

Just had a game on Narrows. We were down by -10 came back till it was tied 49 49, and we pulled off the win. INTENSE!

I removed Warthogs and replaced them with Choppers. Ghosts could also work, but Choppers need more action in MM.

For the Spartan Laser, I placed the Rocket Launcher in the middle and in that place, I moved the Plasma Pistol outside and put inside a Carbine.

Map would play better without those two, I think.

Because he suggested that he had an early copy of Gears of War 2.

He says what he was really talking about was video of GoW2, not the game.

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=13303047&postcount=237

In a thread about a leaked version of gears when all the discussion was about the pirated/stolen copies?
He shouldn't have implied it. Not that I necessarily believe this is the truth, and he didn't invent this excuse until after he was banned, banned of course because he wanted to be a smart-ass.

I had Far Cry for the PC and tried messing around with the tools but was eventually overwhelmed. Then again I was Dax's age so maybe I could do some serious map making now. I hope most of the tools and precision that's inevitably in the PC version find their way to the consoles, this Valhalla must be spot on and sadly I no longer have a PC capable of running new games.

Da truff.

As for the existing Standoff, I like how it plays. While I agree it doesn't feel extremely nice on 4v4 matches, it's a blast to play in 6v6. Standoff without any vehicles would be a bore; I tire of the peek-a-boo gameplay that tends to occur at the rocks when the warthogs aren't out. I also enjoy how detrimental laser control is on the map. It makes for some intense moments when both teams see it respawn out there in the open.

Do u think the choppers would see a lot of action in that setup? with all the cover on that map I am not entirely sure a chopper would be effective. Have you gotten the chance to play it at all?

I have not gotten a chance to see how it would work in normal gameplay yet. You're right about it being set with good protection against a vehicle like a Chopper. A Ghost would work better, perhaps.

Warthogs run the map and in 4v4 games, but no matter what side you're on, it isn't fun as it could be. With Warthogs gone, no sense in keeping a Spartan Laser. Moving Rocket spawn, plus a plasma pistol, power drainer, and tons

For 6v6, it's fine how it is, I think.

I would tear asses apart if I had a chopper on Standoff.

I have a variant of Standoff called High Noon which gives a chopper to both sides.
Link?

I haven't been Halo enough recently and the waves of games are beginning to hit. It'd be nice to get some customs in before diving into Fable, LBP, Fallout, Far Cry, ....

I've found that choppers on heavy are like put a gazelle into a small pit with lions, it just doesn't stand a chance. Hopefully yours is better.
