It looks like Ghaleon's already given you guys the walkaround of some of Assembly's finer points, but I'm going to try to pen together a sizeable and description article for Ascendant Justice. I've played the map easily about 15-20 times, but the map's complex nature and having to fend off other players during a massive FFA isn't the best condition for keeping track of everything. So, I'll do my best.
So far, I think this map is going to be one of my favorites. It's big, it's complex, the lines of sight are awesome and the arrangement of the map allows for a wide variety of movement and choices. Oh, and there's the skybox. Holy shit, the skybox.

Also, I saw the Halo Wars live demo this morning. It was short, but meaty (hmmmm). Lots of stuff I liked, some stuff I didn't, but overall I'm more positive on this game than before.
One note about it: the title screen and GUI is almost exactly like Halo 3 - the purple filter, camera panning around a large environment, the lobbies listed in the lower left corner. It's a smart move, IMO - Halo 3 players will feel like they're in familiar territory right off the bat - in a Halo game.

What are the team arrangements for the Recon Challenge? From some of the stories and videos I've seen, it looks like your teammate is chosen at random. From that YouTube video posted earlier, it looks like the guy was matched up with a 12 year-old scrub :lol .

And so I'm off. Met Joe Staten and a gaggle of Bungie artists today, which was pretty neat to say the least. I could see voc's mind nearly explode when he got in proximity of Staten.
The Bungie guys were handing out tons of swag to people playing Assembly today, at random ("Who got second place?! Who got fifth?!"), they had videos rolling on the big monitors and the lines were more organized than the first two days. The crowds were about as big as day 1 and 2, but crowd control was much better.
I had a crazy good time at PAX. The Bungie crew rocks. Dinner with Louis Wu was great (if cold). Meeting Internet Friends in Real Life is downright surreal; I got a kick out of how we kept mixing in our names and handles during conversation.
Assembly is a very strong map; it's clear that Bungie has been raising the bar on their work with each round of DLC. The art (oh god the skybox), design and overall flow are a cut above other similar sized maps in the existing set, and it fills in a needed slot of arena maps. voc is apparently going to write a novel on it, as will others, but to put is simply, the map is beautiful.
