Funny story. I was at the live 1up Yours show and I got up to the mic to ask a question. I probably pissed off Luke by calling him out on his losses in the Recon challenge. But hey, it made for great podcast material and Garnett gave me a shirt for it.

Oh and as for Assembly, I've played about 6 matches on it and watched Luke and Shiska play. I more or less know all the weapon, deployable items and the camouflage location. It looks fantastic. As for what's being assembled there, Cocop and Ghaleon and Mr. Vociferous are more qualified to answer that. But if you want my opinion, it could be something as simple as a Scarab or something far more menacing that's probably something the Halo community will have to figure out.

Someone on Bungie.net said that it's a preview of "Red vs Blue: The Animated Series" which will start after Episode 19 concludes the Reconstruction series.

Ending at 19? Thats kind of sad. Although this would give them many more options to tell stories through I guess.
 
Damn I could really see RvB getting big with this. I wonder if it the series ever makes it's way to Adult Swim or G4 or something.

Looks very nice.

This will probably come as a retail disc much like the Halo 2 multiplayer disc came out.

There's no other way for non-LIVE enabled 360's to get the map packs, right?

That RvB thing looked amazing, that was the real deal animation? not just some flash cartoon? I couldn't tell by the quality but that looked like it cost A LOT to make.

It's a Scarab manufacturing faclity.

The Scarab chassis moves out of that shielded door on the top, glides on the energy beams to the center where a huge beam of energy charges it up, then accross the skybox to the next step of manufacturing.

It destroys the Epitaph skybox. Just freaking epic.
 
So, did anyone notice any changes to the gameplay when you were playing Assembly? I mean, it was the 1.2 build you were playing. Kind of looks like the grenade splash is larger from one of the videos I've seen.

I was there at the panel and it was great. If they had it for sale I would have gladly forked over my money.

No, it is not officially part of some series that will be coming out after Reconstruction is finished. According to a RoosterTeeth blog post by Burnie it was part of a test piece.

Personally I think Microsoft would be nine degrees of stupid if they didn't immeadiately pay roosterteeth a lot of money and commission a regular series of this. I'd gladly and watch it whether it came out on Web, TV, or Theaters. Red vs Blue the Animated Motion Picture? Oh god, please yes.

I believe they did say during the panel that they want to do more series after Reconstruction, but the idea now is that the stories will now be more contained within a single 'season' of episodes and then they'll move to a new story.

This is a good question.
 
So I'm not sure if it was just the lan environment at PAX (my first halo 3 lan) or if we were in fact playing on the new update... but something about the gameplay felt just, better. I've had some issues with playing on live lately, where most, if not all of my games have played with a little lag hitch, so this could easily have been my imagination.

I have no more analysis then that, I think my overall excitement of playing the new map at PAX combined with the atmosphere made it a little hard to pick out the changes, if in fact there were any.

I felt like my grenades may have gotten just a bit more punch (frags in particular) - could have easily been wrong though. And call me crazy, but I didn't seem to notice any major spawn issues - nothing really stood out.

I think you guys are going to be really impressed with Assembly (I'm having trouble calling it Assembly and not Purple Reign). I think it has the potential for some really really nice Team Slayer / FFA Slayer (obviously), Rockets (veto), king of the hill (no frag starts), 2 Flag (fast flag returns), and Assault (neutral and regular). Playing on it, I realized how badly H3 needed a proper arena map, outside of the foundry made ones. It's bigger than you guys are probably expecting as well - in a good way.

As Ghaleon said, that skybox is EPIC! It's looking to become my favorite one of the series.
 
Yeah, something about the spawns really just clicked. I do not think I had any issues. Also I am certain we were playing with auto update 2 applied to the map. (the grenades felt so much more powerfull).. however; spawning with frag grenades on Assembly is a bad idea though. :lol

Assembly is looking super sweet. Ghaleon, your impressions are great. Can't wait to hear what exact changes AU2 brings. And to get to play Assembly myself. :D
 
Hey guys! Looks like its been really slow here today. So let's chat.

I saw a couple of things today. At the Bungie booth, I got signed reprint art from the Bungie artist. Its cool but I kind of wish I would have brought something of my own (that's another see older Twitter posts).

I got some more matches of Assembly in and met Deepblue today. Tons of Bungie staffers were around like Jaime Griesemer (and I think I spotted Damian Isla walking by the Dead Space booth)and Jerome was there too! (He's as tall as I am surprisingly. I thought he was much taller.) According to Deepblue, there was a mass of bodies waiting for Jen Taylor but then Jerome ordered everyone (like 30 people) into a straight line! When I got to the line, it was organized and quick. And Jerome was pacing by her table. :D

I saw the Giant Bomb panel/show which was hilarious. Lots of 1up folks hanging around. For a moment I considered participating in the short Q & A session the GB guys had but I think being on 1up Yours yesterday was enough.

Lol @ Jerome forcing everyone into a strait line. Were people really that bad with Jen that she needed constant bodyguard watch?

Walshy actually won on Friday with a random, he must have played again with another random and lost.

Got some amazing prints from the artists, though, will upload tomorrow when I get home, unless someone else does first.

It's been surreal today, meeting Jaime, Shishka, Marty, Sketch, Dan, Jen Taylor and a whole pack of others. Lots and LOTS of Bungie folk here today. As yesterday, the booth was utterly packed, 100% of the time.
