Halo 3 Garry's Mod. :lol

I'd really be satisfied by some new maps and any playlist/gameplay tweaks they feel are necessary for an autoupdate. Anything beyond that will be a welcome and incredible surprise, but there's no way I'm getting my hopes up.

Just guessing but it would be interesting if Keyes or Johnson could be the VIP in those varients, which I would think could make that gametype much more fun.

The Flood and Brutes in Rats Nest make me think it's some kind of co-op gametype where you have to face endless waves of enemies for a certain time period (kinda like Gears 2 "Horde" mode and I think GRAW2).

My expectations are calibrated to "hope for Halo 3 Hoard mode, will be happy with other stuffz".

I think this is it. Something like Hoard mode.

But for SP players like me, I hope there is some new SP content. Surprise me, Bungie.

Somebody should start a new thread.

Definitely tempering my expectations, but I'm really looking forward to PAX.

Hopefully between now and then (or at the event) we'll get an interesting reveal regarding this new game. I'll admit that I've been back and forth in my mind about whether or not this is related to Halo, whether or not its a low-key puzzle-esque game or something a bit more epic - all in all, some pretty exciting stuff in the pipeline. Can't wait to see it materialize.

Saw the coolest 'tool of destruction' today after our latest DLC Objective game ended.

Some guy's ToD was called "Collision" and had a picture of a tire on fire. It was pretty cool to see. :lol

This sums up BTB in Halo3

Veto, Veto, Veto, Veto, Veto, Veto, Veto, Veto ........ aw f*ck :lol

Sadly not an exaggeration in Social BTB. Wish I could record all these pre-game lobbies.

*Territories on Sandtrap*
Veto, veto, veto! (14/16 do)
*VIP on Standoff*
Awww, shit! (entire lobby sighs)

Keep up the nice work, Shishka.

I still don't believe Bungie could successfully impliment AI that's customizable in MP. More likely (still can't believe it'd be likely), is that these models are player controlled. Then again Bungie's stated they can't even add new armor permutations let a lone totally new models onto MP maps. Either way; however they've been incorporated into the maps, if it is indeed coming to us players, it'll be awesome.

As for that last scene, it's probably just a small rendered portion of a new map. If this is the case then I'm simply dissappointed that it yet another human environment, but really not a big deal, hope it's a fun one. If it is a highly customizable Foundry-like map then FUCK YES!

I thought it was confirmed that Moonbase Alpha was on a human orbital platform, so we knew at least one more human map was coming?

As for the other stuff, at the least I think it hints that Bungie is doing something with Halo 3 other than just more MP maps. We don't know what, but that in and of itself is quite unexpected, and rather neat.

My bet is on a highly customizeable foundry-like map, except much better. I don't see why they would only show a slightly rendered portion of a map, they know what people would expect seeing that.

Well however they're getting campaign models in there, whether it be through hardcore code haxing or a new disc (Halo: Blue), it's hard not to imagine that they'll be able to add more/new armor permutations.

I've been looking to find something that compliment my flight helmet but everything seems only to detract for it's glory. If I could I would strip my character of every piece of armor but the Flight helmet.

Visitors to our patch of real estate can expect to find some brand new Halo 3 multiplayer content

brand new Halo 3 multiplayer content

More than just maps was hinted at from the get go. :P

So I try RBTB for the first time in ages.

We get Avalanche, Slayer. Yay!

It gets vetoed. 0_0

Now we're in Standoff, someone on the other team is lagging us out. 10-61 right now.

I think I'm going back to Social BTB after this. :lol

so i was playing some team doubles today and i got both crazy king and oddball twice and... i like it. oddball can kinda suck but crazy king was actually a lot of fun its not a huge cluster fuck of grenades like lone wolves.

I think they can't add new armor for the same reason they can't update the Forge palette - the current armor set is hard-coded into the map budget. They can't add new armor without adding it to all maps, thus requiring everyone to download the new iteration of the map with armor in the palette. Totally guessing here.

The flip side is that they can update a map for the new content and have it be its own stand-alone package, not required for all. (Probably premium.)

I don't think the armor permutations have anything to do with the maps. It's because not all people who play matchmaking can download content (core 360's have no hard drive). Thus the only way they could have armor download is to split the user base and/or permanently ban people without harddrives.

I could perceive them coming up with a patch that would allow the game to use campaign models in multi-player. since they are already on the game disk, no download required. The only thing is, I don't think those campaign models are made to take things like team colors. How would you know what team one of them is on?

That's exactly the issue I was describing. If they change the Forge palette, everyone has to download the new map in full, and that's not possible. :p

Can you even play online without a HD?

I'd be amazed if they were able to impliment campaign models into the disk MP levels using heavy DLC let a lone manipulating things with a patch. Then again I don't know anything about programing, I'm just using mah gut.

I really dont want to get the hopes up like, but it could be possible that we may be getting a map editor. I know the most restrain of you have said that the last few seconsd of the video is probably a new map, but if that was the case, would there be any reason to show us those grid lines and such? It seems like too big of a hint.

It could be just another Foundry-style map (with even more flexibility).

From the 7/25 weekly update: "Thankfully, your question is so laser-focused on the "discussions" about a new Foundry-style map so I can give you an answer - Yes, there are discussions about Foundry-style maps."

I didn´t even ponder about that wireframe ending. Looked at it again and it sure looks like som kind of map editor default room

I just picked up Halo 3 again last week and seems it was a good idea

Edit: a new foundy style map with lots of more pieces would be kind of like map editor...

Hoping for a full on map editor post ship might be a recipe for broken e-hearts. Definitely looks like we're going to get at least a new Forge space, with a nice clean grid to line up objects. The campaign elements appearing in existing multiplayer maps is pretty interesting too.

Boner Alert meter raised to half mast.

Want some moar false hope?

Sapien, the program that was used for level population purposes in Halo 1 and 2, it can load actor and actor_variant tags into a scenario tag. So maybe a new patch could load a crapload of campaign NPC tags into the maps and enable their placement by Forge.

This has been the latest addition of moar false hope.

The last part of the video would certainly make it seem like we are getting some kind of Forge upgrade.

BTB just pisses me off because everybody always vetoes objective games. Yesterday when I was playing Social BTB and CTF on Valhalla got vetoed, I was pissed. When it was replaced by VIP on Last Resort and all of the vetoing dumbfucks started whining, I was happy. Thank the gods for VIP. Also, VIP on Last Resort... not that bad.

That's the kicker: it was 1) Avalanche, 2) in BTB so it was rare and 3) Slayer. The gods has smiled.

And then nine douchebags hit X.

Anyone else watching the Olympics on NBC? They just played the Halo 3 Menu theme during one of the mini-documentaries about one of the swimmers. Her brother died and they started to play the slow somber part of the song.

Man, just saw the video. Props to you Halo 3. Making me excited for yourself launch year...understandable. But being able to make me excited a full year later during the most gameful time of the year...well that takes something else my friend, and you fucking brought it!
