I think that would actually make Blackout enjoyable for me. But that's because rockets make everything better.backflip10019 said:Am I the only one who wants 8v8 Rocket King on Blackout?

Ugh, lame. How about a 16 player rocket FFA king on Blackout.backflip10019 said:Am I the only one who wants 8v8 Rocket King on Blackout?
The latter. Seriously fun game; I ended up going back and taking three clips and a gagle of screens, just so I had something to remember it by. Since I'll probably never play it again.backflip10019 said:Amazing as in Taco Bell amazing or amazing as in "the sex was amazing" amazing?

Um, this is exactly what I do. I think you're describing yourself there, Eazy. You don't play Halo.EazyB said:And no Dax does not play Halo. The word play implies that Halo is merely a game that one would just jump into willy-nilly in order to have a good time.
Halo 3 is indisputable proof of how closely Bungie knows its games players. It knows what they value, why they play and how they play. It therefore built Halo 3 to express what its fans dreamt it could be: four player online co-op, a level editor, screenshots, and the best matchmaking system in the world.
But Bungie made Halo 3 much more than just what its fans thought they wanted. Instead of a vanilla screenshot mode, it has a full theatre mode. Level editing is live and collaborative, and even part of the multiplayer itself. Co-op includes a deep scoring system that provides welcome competition while battling together. It allows players to share their films, screenshots, maps and gametypes with each other. While none of these features is truly new to videogames, they have never been so thoroughly and accessibly incorporated into such a supremely coherent whole. Halo 3 is the result of a company considering its games players like no other.
In a few years the Halo series will be milked out to a Sonic-like extreme and that statue won't be worth the silver it's made out of.LAUGHTREY said:At a grand though, imagine how much that will go up in just a few years? Especially the attention its getting.

its a joke implying that you got the tip from that troll. Gosh Ghaleon, this is like the third time you don't get my jokes.GhaleonEB said:
I think Rock Band while it may not be the first of it's kind (GH1 & 2), it did a lot for social gaming and there is really nothing else like it right now.
That's the only other game on the list that I see as being controversial. SMG, while having excellent level design, does not really change the formula stamped out by Mario 64. Portal, again being an excellent game and with unparalleled script, is almost a one trick pony. I haven't played Wii Fit but from the looks of it, the game will sell a shit load but won't do much in terms of actually getting people to lose weight and I can't see it changing how developers make other games.
So what's innovative about Halo 3; a sequel. Besides 4 player online co-op which is an amazing feat, it all centers around the community features Bungie's provided. Screenshots and saved films aren't exactly revolutionary but the way they've been incorporated in Bungie.net and fileshares is unprecedented. Forge, while far from perfect, continues this thread of community customization and is a tool rarely used in console shooters (only other game is Far Cry?). And of course Bungie.net continues to provide game-to-game summaries and stat-tracking as they did in Halo 2.
Some may laugh at the mention of Halo 3 and innovation. This is probably because Halo 3's basic gameplay is very derivative of Halo 1 and 2's so there isn't a whole lot of innovation there. But anyone that's taken advantage of things like screenshots, saved films, and Bungie.net will definitely walk away wishing all other games followed suit.

I just don't see the reason for that thread man. I mean, we, the guys who do love Halo, keep it all here, why do the people that dislike Halo make a thread for every fucking award it gets?Linkzg said:I don't think anyone in that thread was actually hating on Halo, like, at all.
but yeah, personally I would disagree with the selection, but it isn't so far off base that I would say I don't understand how it would win. In the case of Halo 3, I think it is all it is an acceptable choice.

It becomes so much more than a game, its like when you buy Halo 3 you buy a pass into a community of fellow people who share the same values and all have a common interest... pwning the shit out of people.

Exactly. We can hardly agree on anything about what should be done, and we're one drop in the bucket of the Halo 3 player base.urk said:We can't even get a consensus on what should and shouldn't be changed in this thread and we've got what, a few dozen regular posters?
This silly attitude has been proven... silly time and time again. There are those on GAF who hate Halo, just as there are haters of every game on GAF. It's not some sort of grand hate parade, as the last few LTTP threads, and then the reason from people outside our little bubble of fans in the award thread displayed.Dax01 said:That thread reminded me how much GAF hates Halo.:lol
But it's much more interesting. We're special, each and everythe disgruntled gamer said:The "we're the rebels up against an army of GAFers who hate Halo" attitude is outdated, tired, and useless.

First let me say that I love the new Team Hardcore playlist and it is now my favorite playlist and will be pretty much all I play from now on, and you did a very good job. After some careful thought I've come up with some suggestions, please don't take it as me -blam!-ing because if unchanged I will still be completely happy with the playlist and play it consistently.
My suggestions are:
-Increase the speed, it is still too hard to catch up to flag carriers, disarm bombs, and kill VIPs in time because the spawning and movement system is too slow. If the option is there use it, increase it to like 110% at minimum or 125%. It will increase the fun of objective based hardcore gametypes. After all its generally agreed Halo 3's game speed feels too slow.
- Follow MLG gametypes more closely, I know Hardcore isn't MLG but they are supposed to be similar and I see it as nothing but a good move business wise for Bungie and MLG to create a close relationship because after all MLG has been using Halo games as its flagship competitive game for several years now. Add the crates in the bases on the HC The Pit map at least. Besides it gives people a chance to practice for MLG. Perhaps you could even just let MLG manage the Hardcore playlist for awhile? I know it'd be unfavorable giving control of part of your game to someone else but it would be pretty neat.
-Limit the variation of maps. I remember in H2 it was pretty reliable you were going to get Lockout, Midship, or Warlock every single game. I feel as if there is too much of a range on H3's map variation. Remove Valhalla that level is simply too big for 4v4 objective gametypes, furthermore I feel in Halo 3 there shouldn't be 3v3's unless its limited to slayer gametypes its just a definite capture if you get a double kill and with rockets and whatnot on the maps thats bound to happen almost every game leaving people feel uncomfortable with the game they just had.
-Limit the power weapons and equipment even more, you did a great job with the maulers but in HC gametypes I feel that there are still too many power weapons and nobody really fights over any weapon or equipment specifically like they would in Halo 2, BESIDES THE ROCKETS ON NARROWS, which everyone fights for in the beginning every game. I kind of feel those rockets should be completely removed or put them in the middle bridge thing underneath where its much more open and would be harder to retrieve.
-Add some KoTH gametypes. I'm not sure if I just got unlucky but I didn't see any KoTH in the 40 or so games I've played of Hardcore. Remove the objective games on Isolation and have it slayer only. It just doesn't work as an objective map. In about the opposite try adding an objective gametype to Construct, I don't believe there are any currently.
-Can you turn the man cannons off in Narrows 2 flag?. I feel like if you get the flag across the man cannon, trip wise you have the flag a little more than half way there but you can basically already count it as a capture. In fact in all my games I have yet to see a flag thats made it over man cannon returned.
That is all the changes. Please consider them. Please post some constructive criticism. Thanks everyone.
Problem 1: Juices crying about everything but MLGxxjuicesxx said:And MLG is truely the only playlist I feel they actually listened to the community to after seeing how Hardcore playlist was semi-failing. I remember after Team Hardcore came out I posted a long writeup on B.net how they should fix it and my final suggestion was let MLG handle it completely. I know they didn't read it but it turns out they ended up doing it.
