Why do you have such a hard on for the Prowler? It's a really terrible vehicle.
Is it? I suppose using it in customs when people are screwing around with Lasers and Rocket Launchers, it's not going to be great.

The turret doesn't need to be uber-powerful like the Warthog. It also can destroy other vehicles with its front bumper (similar to the Chopper) and it is a much better vehicle to run over infantry than the inconsistent Ghost. But most importantly, it's a TRANSPORT vehicle, as well as a combat one, to be used in a Covenant gametype. A Mongoose, which is a human transport vehicle, is instead used. Why? I do not know. Then again, we played Team Rifles with a Banshee and Multi-Bomb on a one-side map.

Unless you're a fan of 80,000 Ghosts fighting in one match on Sandtrap and Valhalla, then feel free to say whatever you want.

I don't want to speak for striker, but I am a co-founder of the Prowler Love Force, so my answer would be: The Prowler is, in fact, not a terrible vehicle, you just aren't familiar with it. It's also the covenant warthog, meaning that it should be in Covies (it would inject some much-needed variety into the covies matches). It's a good fit for Covies, much better than, say the mongoose.

EDIT: Beaten by the other co-founder, whose answer was much better.

This BTB Social game we're in now is fucking awful, completely unplayable. It's good to see that others are experiencing the same thing, something needs to be done about this. Maybe Bungie can reset the host data again or something?

I sure hope it's not some kind of newly found cheating method or anything.

Can someone please exlain to me how resetting the host data helps? Not a sarcastic question, I'm just ignorant about this.

The way I understand it (and Luke/Shishka can correct me if I'm wrong here), is that Halo matchmaking tests every players internet connection and then picks the best/fastest/most stable(?) host for the game. Then it eventually saves that host data so it doesn't have to run the test every single time (which should speed up matchmaking).

Resetting the host data should run those tests again and hopefully pick more accurate players to host.

My sickest Halo kill happened like that, except this was Halo 1 PC, and I was in a Warthog. Everybody was playing on Snow Grove (custom map), and I drove my Warthog in the path of the red line:

wss4mx.jpg

Some Blue punk throws a grenade in an effort to overturn my hog, which it does at the red x. My Warthog goes into the most diabolical front-over-end spin you've ever seen, and heads straight for that Forerunner structure in the center. Now, this Forerunner structure you see in the image is perfectly symmetrical, the ramp on the right side was in the same place on the left side. Why do I tell you this? Well, because a Blue player was standing on that ramp, right in the trajectory of my ballistic Warthog. My hog's flips coincided in such a way that it was upright and pointed forwards when it collided with the side of the ramp. The Blue player was hopelessly splattered. The nose tilted up slightly, and my warthog slid off of the structure gently and back onto its four wheels.

I was laughing myself to tears. He said, "wtf".

Could we be seeing the return of a clan match playlist with AU2? That'd be something to get excited about.

The only clan matches that take place in Halo 3 are the ones you set up in custom games. There are zero plans of any kind to introduce any kind of formal clan match/matchmaking in Halo 3.

Seriously, what the hell is going on with the lag lately? BTB is barely playable half the time now.

I've noticed an increase amount of lag as well. I wonder what's up.

I'll look into it.
and by look into it, I mean, talk to networking engineers and test folks tomorrow

yea now that i think of it i've gotten some laggy ass matches today. and not even like legendary brawl but just regular team slayer was unplayable at times. just everyone straight yellow bar, then it would work its way up to 1 bar under green. still annoying.

I'm not noticing any of this lag you guys are talking about. In fact I haven't had a laggy game lately...

I have dropped connection though but I think that's my shitty ISP.

Also when Ramirez said Prowler was shitty I wanted to post this pretty cool video I saw of a guy get a rampage on one on Sandtrap over at Gamevee but I cannot fuckin find the damn thing. I hate the prowler but this guy had mad skills.:D

Today I invited my friend over who I used to play Doubles with and he recovered his account. He hasn't played Halo since before Foundry came out, and before AU1. He loved it! We played two warmup Social Slayers and then hopped in TS. We won half our games, the rust came off so fast. We lost because of our teammates who did worse than him!

I finally found out what that Recon armor is. I guess that explains all those crazy xbox live messages I see pop up in this thread. :lol

I'd love to see it, that gun does shit for damage, he must have been playing some really good players.

So let me tell you about my Halo 3 experience this morning.

I fire it up for a few quick games before breakfast; you know the drill. Maps fail to load. "Oh, I'll fiddle around in theatre and customs until they do," I say to myself. They don't. In the meantime I have a look and see who's online. Oh, some GAF people. They're in a custom game. Eight of them. All brigadiers and generals. "It must be nice to have friends," I say to myself, as I wait for the maps I paid for with fake money (bought with real money) to load. They don't. I decide to play a game of Lone Wolves. It comes up Swords. "This will be a nice change of pace," I think. I was not wrong; everyone in this gametype moves twice as fast as I do when lunging, and are effectively untouchable. I lose every clash where I didn't surprise the player or blow them up with a grenade, and go 3-22 and -19. The second worst player went -1, because Swords is usually fairly even, unless you are unfortunate (or foolish!) enough to live outside of the US. Fed up with this, I restart my 360. This time the maps load, although it takes some thirty seconds. I decide to play a game of MLG. It gives me three on three on Guardian. One of my teammates begins to suicide and betray. The other quits. Even with just four other players, it lags. I get hounded around the map by the other team who insist on humping me and asking how I get recon. My teammate does the same thing when he is not betraying me. I never get the option to boot him. In the postgame lobby he tells the other team that he knows how to get recon and will show them in a custom game. They party up and leave together. I go back to bed and pull the covers over my head. I am typing this now from a cocoon of sadness.

Those bad, -22 days happen to the best of us, bro. Having to deal with the giant cesspool that is the XBL community can be extremely frustrating, and I imagine your "across the Atlantic" woes make it harder. That's generally why I tend to stick with my friends/ socials when playing Halo nowadays. It takes the frustration out of the game, and injects the fun back in. Friends+Team/Party Chat only= fun fun fun.

*Although, if a 5v5 or 6v6 playlist is coming, it looks like I'll have to hang up my social-exclusive boots and jump back into Ranked.

Is this why you were playing every other game in your Xbox library earlier? I saw you playing Viva Pinata, for example.

One time I went -30 something in a BTB match with BluBlur. Hope that makes you feel better!

Oh, and if there is going to be a 5v5 or 6v6 ranked playlist, please make it Team Objective.

That would improve Team Objective nicely, as would editing and adding more stuff to the current lineup. Here's a few things I'd like to see:

Last Resort: One Flag (big increase to this in RBTB, please), One Bomb, Territories
Snowbound: Multi-Flag, Multi-Bomb, CTF Classic, KotH
Ghost Town: One Flag, One Bomb, Oddball, KotH
The Pit: Mult-Flag, Multi-Bomb, Neutral Bomb, CTF Classic, KotH
Guardian: KotH, Oddball

What gets me is that after I plug that guy in the chest for what should've been an uncontested kill, I line his dome piece up perfectly for the snipe. Then, almost instinctually, Ram attaches his ugly recon helmet to the end of my barrel.

But don't worry, I got my payback last night. And with the help of Gamevee, all shall witness.
