That's a pretty cool keychain. Better than some shirt that is too large for me to ever wear.

Has this been posted before? A rocket deflected by a grenade. This just shows how well the game is programmed and that nothing is 'cheated'.
Sniper delay: The delay between Sniper shots feels like an eternity. Seeing multi kills with it is now rare. Getting those clutch no scopes is almost impossible because in a close range situation you can barely fire off one shot before getting killed. The delay between shots should be the same as Halo 2.
Raiden said:What? I thought this was great, i was tired of getting shot by i cant aim for shit snipers, so i'll just pin you down with two shots in your body. Bungie is encouraging headshots, and you're a little bitch about it.(I do mean the guy who wrote this)
Also i dont agree on alot of those rants, seriously, bungie did a f'n awesome job at balancing H3, but there are always people who bitch about it because they probally get owned online everytime.
The way i see it now, the better player always wins, if someone kills me, i have the balls to say well right there they where better then me, or at that moment, or just the entire match.
Go Bungie, the only thing i want from you is new maps.

Halo 3
My single favorite gaming moment this year was unlocking all the terminals in Halo 3. Have you read the Legendary difficulty terminal text? I sincerely experienced chills as I read Offensive Bias' log of the zero-hour events surrounding the Halo array's original activation. Yes, I'm a nerd. Screw you. I know people gripe about Halo's dialogue, and yeah, sometimes it feels like they're dumbing it down for the lowest common denominator, but the terminals prove that Bungie is still about great writing and brilliant world-building. Oh yeah -- the rest of the game is good, too! The campaign in particular was spectacular. And humbling.

My sentiments exactly (incidentally, my name is Jeremy as well - OMG!). The campaign's dialogue was campy and corny in parts, and reasonably so as there are equally sci-fi-esque portions in Halo: Combat Evolved (not as much as Halo 2) - I still loved it. The terminals, far and away, were my favorite part of Halo 3 as you can see here. The storylines and information found inside the terminal blows away every piece of writing in the Halo Universe (and most others) so far and we only have bits and pieces of the story.Tieno said:Jeremy Parish on the best games he's played this year.

I just read your post summing up the events of Halo, and man was that shit AWESOME.Mr Vociferous said:My sentiments exactly (incidentally, my name is Jeremy as well - OMG!). The love story and sacrifice between Didact and Librarian is so perfectly executed, with Didact sending the last message before firing the array, even though he knows that it won't reach Librarian before she's destroyed. Parrish's point on Offensive Bias' battle against Mendicant was also perfectly executed, showing the horror of the battle after the array is fired. I would pay large amounts of money for a game or book which covers those stories.
But he made the replacement ring so he's kind of a hero who fell to asshattery and caused the death of the entire galaxy. Accidents happen.

Other than that, the rest are stupid.
But I do like the spectator mode idea.
The Flood which existed prior to the array, including the Gravemind (Compound Mind), were killed, as they are sentient. According to the Gravemind they are, in fact, the highest degree of sentience. This is how he convinced Mendicant that the Forerunners were mistaken.snack said:What happened to the Flood after the the Halos were detonated the first time. Since they reached sentience were they destroyed in the blast??
If the Flood were to return from outside the Galaxy or if the containment protocols were broken as they were by the Covenant on Installation 04 and Installation 05.If that is the case how come the Forerunners set us up to be Reclaimers if the Flood were destroyed in the blast?
Apparently Didact, or some Forerunners during the time just before the array, discovered that once the Compound Mind (the Gravemind) was created, all of the Flood forms became reliant upon it. The destruction of the Gravemind would destroy, by proxy, the Flood according to my interpretation of some of the information culled from the terminals. Also, all the sentient Flood followed Gravemind into the Ark, and then the Ark was blown up killing them, correct?
There are Flood specimens on other rings rife for future gaming pleasure. My hopes is that the Flood are finally utilized properly in some sort of survival horror game about a Marine and his/her crew on one of the remaining rings, similar to Resident Evil. I didn't enjoy the Flood in any Halo game, as I believe they were a good enemy simply executed poorly.Doesn't that still leave the flood specimens contained on the other Halos, or are those not really a concern, because you could just destroy the rings, killing the Flood as well
Halo: Landfall
Spectacular. The Neil Blomkamp pieces have been available only partially - and for only some of the world's denizens - on Xbox Live Marketplace; as of today, that's changed. You can download 'Halo: Landfall', a single 315 mb piece that's been edited together from the three separate movies, from the Game Videos section of Xbox Live Marketplace - or directly from Halo 3 (hit the start button, then scroll down to 'Marketplace'). It's free. Thanks to Xboxtoday.com.br's Marcelo Vega for the heads-up! Update: A little more news on this. Major Nelson put up a blog post about this, and lists a number of countries in which this film is NOT available - but that might be a temporary thing; I have word that it's possible that it's just a matter of text localization in those countries. Also, a bit more info about the piece itself - it is in HD (I wasn't sure until I could see it), and the putting-together was done by Bungie/Film Oasis. (Bungie's been pretty unhappy that it's been so difficult to see these in HD splendor up until now - so props for making it happen!) There'll be more info soon - stay tuned.

Dash Text: [ESRB: M (Mature) BLOOD AND GORE,MILD LANGUAGE,VIOLENCE] Director Neill Blomkamp explores the lives of Marines and ODSTs on a last, desperate mission in a post-invasion Earth a mission that may secure the salvation, or usher the destruction of the entire galaxy. Edited together as a standalone piece for the first time, these three shorts are the first glimpse at what a live-action Halo could and should look like and a must-see for Halo fans of every stripe.
I still think the CG commercial and in-game cutscenes are WAY cooler than these shorts.GhaleonEB said:W

Thanks for clearing that up, I was slightly confused.Mr Vociferous said:The Flood which existed prior to the array, including the Gravemind (Compound Mind), were killed, as they are sentient. According to the Gravemind they are, in fact, the highest degree of sentience. This is how he convinced Mendicant that the Forerunners were mistaken.
All of the sustaining containment facilities of each Halo installation however still held a variety of specimens for study, possibly in hopes that there would be one way to permanently rid the threat of the Flood. Since the Flood were extragalactic and not intragalatic, the problem had to be permanently solved, not cleaned up and avoided only to be repeated a million years later. As has been said, this wasn't the first galaxy which the Flood have attempted to consume.
So the Flood specimens, in a nonsentient infection form, were kept alive, on the most reasonable place: a weapon that could destroy them if they escaped.
If the Flood were to return from outside the Galaxy or if the containment protocols were broken as they were by the Covenant on Installation 04 and Installation 05.

The sniper rifle is still too powerful. It's not as annoying as it was though. I didn't like Gears of War nearly as much as Halo 3, but Gears' sniper rifle was just perfect. You had to have good aim to use it, because it only had one shot at a time in the clip. I really like that they only give out medals for headshots this time around, but I wish it didn't do so much damage. I hope in a future update they change it so shooting anything other than the head is a waste of time or make the delay between shooting even more, and that will make body shots a waste of time. That would probably make that MLG guy hang himself but oh well. I also notice that in Halo 3 there are a lot more kills where I kill someone and they kill me too at the same time, but with guns or melee. That NEVER happened in Halo 2 and I think Halo 3 is really balanced well for the most part.Raiden said:What? nope. this sounds like it will never be made available to everybody. Otherwise it cheapens it's use as a 'Community Service' award which they seem to be saving it for. Hopefully they'll be somewhat loose with it though. If they are too strict with who they give it too I will never get the chance to play against someone with it. Just like the chances of me playing against someone with a flaming helmet is exceedingly remote. I'd love to see it in a game.Thermite said:At least Bungie is starting to give away the Recon Armor. ohh, I know. Just give it to GAFers who have posted in this thread. That should be enough people to make it common, but not too common. :lol

So the good news is that as far as I am concerned, all of the projected DLC maps are sweet. Two of them in particular will cause a Three Mile Island scale pant-fill-disaster in the Halo community. I cant say why, but some of you will figure it out correctly and be able to say I told you so later.

He passed out in the middle of playing ? :lolButtonbasher said:Funny Story: I was playing The Covenant through co-op with my friend on our terminal run, and it was around 1:30AM. He fell asleep around the second terminal. I was hopping around it, and his icon wasn't moving. He wouldn't respond either. I look out and his Hornet is just hovering out over the water.
I laughed. Hard.:lol
I got back in mine and killed his Hornet. Then he said something like "dude I'm falling asleep", to which I replied "I noticed". Because we quit that night at the checkpoint before the 2 scarab batte, he didn't get the achievement for beating the game on heroic. :lolSpudBud said:He passed out in the middle of playing ? :lol
