The latest Gamestop Voicemail recommends getting to the midnight release at nine to payoff the preorder. That is just PR yeah? Surely you can payoff the game if you get there after nine?

Doubt it, mine said they wanted the line to be moving as fast as possible.

Is there something where it has to be paid off for you to be able to attend the midnight launch? I suppose they do that to speed up the process or something, not to secure a copy.

Really? What the hell is MS printing on those backcover then? Whatever my 360 does the scaling so it's not a TV scaling issue.
Then try setting your 360 to output 720p and see if your TV scales 720p content better than the 360.

The scaling chip in the 360 upscales to 1080i and 1080p. The content is natively 720P.

I've got a Sony A2000 50" and a launch 360. There were some jaggies in the beta, but overall, the beta looked awesome on my set. I'm nowhere near as picky as Dark10x is, but if the graphics have short comings, I'll speak up.

My recommendation would be to check to see if your sharpness is all the way up, check edge enhancement, etc.

They are printing supported resolutions, not the native res (upscaled).

It doesn't matter if the 360 is doing the scaling or not, you are still looking at an upscaled image. A 1080p screen displaying an upscaled 720p image will produce results inferior to an actual 720p display. The resolution of your display is having a negative effect on your 720p games. I've seen it with my own eyes across many 1080p displays and the results are always the same. That's just the nature of the tech.

there are things to complain on halo3,at least on the single player campaing

I expect the IQ to be similar to that in the beta. Below is an image taken off the beta from my Samsung 61" 1080p. Note that while jaggies are conspicuous in many places, I didn't really have any complaint about them while playing the game (they stand out much more in images.)

Raise your hand if you DONT have a preorder and are just going to show up to a Wal-Mart at like 11:15, walk in, stand in line, and walk out before most of your friends even touch their copies they have reserved for months. The limited edition none-the-less too.

Looks just like the beta--noticeable only in static images but during playtime nothing is noticeable.

People who have the game:

Is anyone else unable to play multiplayer? I go into Matchmaking but the option to start is grayed out and I get a message saying "Information can't be retrieved from the Halo 3 servers" or something.

I asked last night, but is anyone else having the same problem?

That's my plan. No matter how much I want H3, I learned my lesson after attending the H2 midnight launch and then seeing how many copies were still on the store shelves the next day.

Servers aren't up yet or something. Wouldn't make much sense to have them open before the game releases.

I get that but I assumed the multiplayer servers are just being prepped for launch. Finished my first campaign playthrough now so wouldn't mind some early MP action

Bungie hasn't turned matchmaking on yet.

One very impressive thing is how fast the loading times are. And considering how awesome the loading screen looks, I would even have minded if they were a bit slower :)

Thank GOD its better than that one for Halo 2 which took for freaking ever and felt like an eye scan.

eh, I know lots of people who are getting in line at my WalMart. Best of luck to ya.
Couple things to remember. Walmart will have obscene amounts of the game, like they do for most major releases. The people who go to Walmarts for the game are more likely to get the basic version, "we don't need none of that fancy special stuff." Those things I think improve my chances.

What TV's were Bungie using to play Halo 3 at the review events again? If I remember correctly, it was a Sharp...

IIRC, they were using Sharp Aquoses at some events and Samsungs at other events. I'm basing this off a Stinkles post floating in the back of my brain so it may be completely wrong.

Short answer, though... really nice LCDs.

Lets talk about potential download content, going by what people say about a medium lengh to the game and that theres 4 player co-op already built in, I would think that a patch or download in the future for like some kind of hardcore balls to the wall action that requires 4 people to beat without constant spawn on death like A.I would be a brilliant seller, harder then legendary? somehow its got to be possible in halo 3.

What about new co-op maps? halo 3 features a scoreboard of sorts for campaign so maybe a few new levels would work out. Theres the problem of fitting it into the story but I would still love to see something there for future playing, maybe even a small chapter in another timezone like a planet reach fight that you can 4 player co-op thru. I would think something like this as a download in the future would be very nice to play.

The game is ok.. some parts look ok...some look. low rez. ie soldiers. then some shots are nice.

I am not sure wtf is going. I am playing on a pioneer plasma 720p native via Hdmi. I duno maybe my telly sux ??? * I duno righttttt.

the models are low rez, call me a graphic whore. sorry, bioshock, gears, Call of duty 4 all spoiled me. F this game

Ok I tried to do a screen from the same spot as you. Seems like the jaggies are the same people just have different tolerance levels...

Hm, huge outdoor battles in a large environment compared to small closed quarters fighting. LOVES IT.

See, the thing is, I was literally about to go pick up a new 1080p Sammy LCD within the next couple of hours, but when I read this, I was stopped dead in my tracks. Halo 3 was the main force that compelled me to buy a new TV in the first place, and if it looks like that on a Samsung 1080P LCD, then, frankly, I'm having second thoughts.

All I need is for one Bungie team member to come in here and tell me that the game looks fine on an LN-T4661F. If they demo'd the damn game on it, I'll take that as a confirmation as well. If it is confirmed by either a GAFfer or a Bungie guy, I'll be golden, and pick the baby up in a heartbeat. If it isn't, then, that's a whole different story.
