Played it a bit today. If you like the series, you'll like this one. If you don't, there is nothing that's going to change your mind.

I look forward to Bungie trying something different.

ok great.

so which would you rather play?

I stopped playing Warhawk after a week. I don't really understand the question. I just did a comparison to tell you that other games do look fine on my setup. I just don't have another comparable 360 game. Besides maybe the CoD 4 beta.

Oh god, I hate graphic whores.

its ok, they'll just serve to add even more posts to this thread and push it throught the stratosphere in the gaf longest thread meta game. They really can't win, besides reviews will be dropping soon and they'll have people to spin soon enough.

Well summed up.

I'm playing on a 1080p Toshiba X3030D, over HDMI, and the game looks amazing. No jaggies because I've actually set my TV up properly.

The "jaggies" in that photo are shitty edge sharpening effects. Turn sharpening on your TV off to get rid of them.

how was that a difficult question exactly?

And here's the small version...

I'll have an Egg and Mooby Muffin, please.

no kidding. I can't believe we haven't gotten a lot more screens from people yet. Would have been one of the first things I would have done.

That screenshot is really troubling, but from what I've heard in response is that the game looks nowhere near that bad.

If there were more screenshots of evidence I'd be inclined to scream out in fear, but honestly, it really looks like whomever took this shot was trying really hard.

Xater, this probably sounds dumb, but the switch on the component cable where it connects to the 360 is set to HDTV correct?

It is set on HDTV.

@alisdair: Edge sharpening is off.

I know my stuff.

There were more posted on the screen shot tread on teamxbox but they fucking closed the thread till the 25th. Look basically just as bad as that last screen.

Trying hard? I just loaded a save and looked up somewhere so I don't spoil anything. :lol

Congratulations for making me scared as to how Halo 3 will look on my TV. I'm getting a new 1080p TV and sound system within the next two days, and now I'm hoping that Halo 3 doesn't have the dreaded jaggies.

:(

Well, I've got to believe that this is some kind of issue with settings as jaggies were not even noticeable on my 65" during the Beta.

Will this be the first 360 game that looks better on an SDTV?

I know my stuff.

Have you tried playing the game while set to 720p.
Maybe its a 1080p issue. Wasn't there a time when halo2 didn't look right on certain tvs and it had to be patched, or was it some other game on the original xbox I'm thinking of?

Don't know for the original Xbox but I am pretty sure that Saints Row had a patch to increase the AA.

I just vaguley remember an aspect ratio or screen cutoff issue that needed to be patched.

Man, I'm just so pumped for multiplayer and the replay system. That alone is worth $60.

Single player, co-op, and Forge are nice extras to me.

Halo 3 has something for everyone, this is why itll be so popular. I'm the exact opposite. Single player, co op, and forge is what I want to play while not caring about competitive multiplayer.

I got the game but im going out:(
Btw the US version released in Kuwait today :D
we used to get the games here after 3 days it released in US

And the price is:
halo 3 85$
Halo 3 Limited Edition 100$
Halo 3 Legendary Edition 260$ (the shop sold 7 now he just have 1 left)

I have found that the image quality is very similar -- if not identical to -- another completely unrelated video gaming product called "the Halo 3 Beta"

It's a 1080p Samusung HDTV with a native resolution of 1920×1080. My Xbox is connected via component and set to 1080p. I don't see where there fault there could be ;)
Actually, I do see fault there. Having tested quite a few Samsung 1080p displays, I determined that they handle 720p content quite a bit worse than a native 720p display. Sure, Warhawk may be pleasing enough to you, but all of your games are suffering. Resistance is a very clean game but looked much less so on a 1080p display.

well as i have said before finished the game and my two cents about the graphics

graphics are a mixed bag some things look amazing and others look bland, but the textures are awesome when u zoom in,the characters lack some poligons and its noticeable, but there is a ton off cool lighting effects and a lot of big areas with a lot of shit happening

and by the way..yep game have some jaggies but not like that screen some of u are posting, and my tv its sharp aquos 46 lcd

If he's outputting 1080p like he says he is, though, it's the 360 doing the scaling, not his set. And of course a 1080p panel won't display 720p as nicely as a 720p panel will; this is the main argument against fixed-pixel displays!

The problem in your logic is that Halo 3 is a 1080p game and therefor not 720p content.

Just tested out the setting my 360 to 720p and it looks the same.

Halo 3 is 720p. Never ever has it been native 1080p.

As others have stated, Halo 3 is a 720p title that is being upscaled.

Try setting your 360 to 720p and see if the set itself does a better job than the 360 at upscaling. Regardless of which mode you use, the image quality will still appear upscaled on your 1080p display as the game is not native 1080p.

The latest Gamestop Voicemail recommends getting to the midnight release at nine to payoff the preorder. That is just PR yeah? Surely you can payoff the game if you get there after nine?

Gears had something similar I think. At the beginning there was no problem, then a patch correcting the ratio of a resolution fucked all the AA and Epic repatched it again to correct the problem.

Anyways I think that people should not think too much about it, nobody will cancel their preorder just for that, right ? (I hope)
It's just that people have to keep on mind theses problems, and to not have expectations too high about it or they will be disappointed. This game is full of qualities, perfection doesn't exist and Halo is worth the money it costs.

Actually, it's 720p upscaled to 1080p when your 360 is set to that resolution.

But your logic is correct, your TV is seeing it as a 1080p signal.

Still, if most people aren't seeing jaggies that are that bad, I'm going to say it's something specific to your setup.
