So can anyone confirm whether this newegg thing is legit?

No, and there won't by any confirmation until noon PST. So hang tight...

Some people need to learn patience.

If they don't ship today, I'm going to cancel since I'll be out of town next week anyway.

Once the order has progressed to Step 3, there is no turning back.

Only on the website, but their CSRs are very helpful over the phone.

Note to everyone: Don't ever call a company that's fucking up and tell them they're fucking up. You'll ruin it for everyone.

That's why I didn't mention the street date issue.

If you guys keep asking them, they're going to think something is up. Just watch your order status; no need to raise every friggin red flag in the book! :lol
The GAF-reading MS employees must be alerting MS's lawyers as we speak.

Just read on Teamxbox that they'll ban people who play Halo 3 early. They can't really do that, considering it's not gamers' fault, but that UK retailer's.

I'd LOVE to see that.

i'll probably toss it to claude over at hbo with a brief write up of how it went after its over (scheduled for 10/16, hopefully hes not as busy by then). i'm still not sure how i'll handly talking about it with that crowd and only about 10 minutes of time. i think i'll likely spend most of the time discussing the "sandbox gameplay" and maybe just reference in game strategies using one example (say, maybe just a teamslayer match on high ground).

if you wouldnt mind, maybe i could bounce ideas off of you at a later time as i begin to outline it?

Which is pretty sucktacular. The only fair solution once x number of retailers have broken the street date, is to let everyone break it. I don't even care about playing the game before the 25th, but the friggin spoilers demand immediate action. Hell, I can't even go on their own wonderful service which they tout so much without having the "Star Wars of our time" spoiled for me.

Desperation springs eternal. As someone who is just going to pick it up on Tuesday, all this thrash is hilarious to watch.

It is fun though. Part of the charm of a big release.

People getting it early, and posting pics and people scamming to find a store to sell it early, etc.

When I got Bioshock early, I had no idea what a firestorm that would start.

No, they're not. They updated the ste. Only MS employees will get banned if caught.

Is anybody here on Step 4? Let me know if your guys' orders move out today. If they don't, I'm cancelling while I still have the chance.

$70 ain't peanuts.

Exactly, and I would go through the hassle to get the money back but putting it on the line in the first place to just get the game a few days early isn't really worth it. If you can guarantee a copy; that would be different.

Damn it they said they couldn't ship it to me over night because I live in Bum Fuck Eygpt WV so they can't over night it here. DAMN IT!!!

I'm blatently going to Argos tomorrow to see if there selling it still. Any Uk'ers manage to get it from them today & know if they are continuing to sell?

I had to go to their site, reserve the game for in-store pickup then go and give them my reservation number. I'm pretty sure if you just walk in and try and buy it they won't let you.

(I got mine at about 12:00pm today from the Long Eaton, Derbyshire branch)

Yeah, the rep I talked to said they would be able to void the transaction anytime before it has shipped. Once it's shipped though, it's a done deal.

I'm fine with that. If it doesn't ship today or tomorrow, I'll void it.

Please wait while we connect you to a Newegg representative.
Thank you for contacting Newegg. My name is Thomas. How may I assist you today?
Me: I'm sure you have a million people asking this. I ordered Halo 3 today, will it ship today?
Thomas: Let me check.
Thomas: It should ship out today I believe.
Me: Are you sure? I'm checking for a whole forum full of guys who have ordered.
Thomas: Yes. It's in step four , it's already been boxed and scanned.
Me: Cool, I'll let them know. THANKS!

:D

And with Newegg you can just refuse the shipment and they'll give you a full refund (maybe minus shipping cost if you use overnight). I once ordered a 5.1 speaker set from them, refused the shipment, and got a full refund for the speakers + the $30 shipping fee. Gotta love them.

But when can't void once Step 3 has hit because the money is charged. So we need to know before the orders hit step 3 whether they're shipping at Step 4. Aargh!!

Edit: QUIT. CONTACTING. THEM. :lol

That sounds like a better deal. If you can just void the shipment altogether it is definitely worth it.

Theyve taken it off the website too!

You can still call and cancel over the phone at step 3, maybe even step 4.

Step 4 isn't shipped, it's boxed. You can cancel during step 4. You just have to call them.

They will Void the shipment if you use the live chat. I just had mine voided cuz they can't over night it here.

Uhh, yeah you can still void it before it's shipped. They just dump the money back into your account.

Why'd you do that, So instead of getting it thursday you would have gotten it on Friday. That's still not worth it to you?

Geez its amazing how this silly rumor always gets repeated even though all logic would assume otherwise.

For the millionth time, nobody will be banned from Live if you're playing a legitimate copy of H3...This rumor was born from that retard that played the Epsilon version online with a live camera. He broke the terms of his beta and thus was banned.

Sadly i'm sure to be ignored and its just a matter of time before we get more visitors convinced of the opposite.

So true.

They needed to change it to 3 day shipping. I have a legendary already pre ordered and paid for that I will get Monday night. I am going out of town Friday so if I don't get it tomorrow I won't get to play it. It would have basically gotten here the same day I am getting my Legendary edition.

You can call up and not mention the item at all. Usually when you call as well they bring up your account via the number you are dialing from. I didn't see the option for rush shipping so I called to verify that my item would be shipped today for tomorrow. She told me its ready to ship out in a few hours and I should receive it before before end of business day for FedEX.

But the rule of thumb is do not question the order in name due to a error from site, etc.

Y'know, I just did some thinking. Maybe MS would ban people's accounts, under the auspices of those with the game early are most likely pirates. Then they turn around and say "if you can send us a copy of your receipt for the legitimate purchase of the game, we'll unban your account." While a hassle for those who play early, this would offer a work around to get unbanned. Meanwhile, anyone who doesn't provide a receipt most likely is a pirate. Those who do provide a receipt have just given MS printed proof of a store selling the game early, so MS has easy recourse there to go after the store. (not that all this newegg talk here isn't proof enough :lol )

No, just...No.
