So someone tell me if I can do this.

1) Purchase Halo 3 (normal) overnight from Newegg.
2) Purchase my Legendary when it comes out on the 25th.
3) Return the Halo 3 game that comes in the LE back to Newegg for a full refund.

Hurry! :D

According to the pro-g article, yes, as they'll look at the time stamp on your Halo 3 profile or achievements or some such.

Easy fix to get around that though. Disconnect the ethernet cable and set your system clock ahead to the 25th.

You know, if you're not on live you can set the xbox's internal clock to any date.....

:D

I'm not saying, I'm just saying....

(beaten)

They won't ban you anyway.

There's a different boxart on the LE edition :/

I feel like we're drawing too much attention to this: they'll probably get stopped and we'll be left, once again, to fend for ourselves in the spoiler storm.

Well, the game is showing up on NewEgg as the following:
# Limited Non-Refundable 30-Day Return Policy

1. Summary
1.
* Return for refund within: non-refundable
* Return for replacement within: 30 days
2. Detail
1. This is our Detailed Limited Non-Refundable 30-Day Return Policy. Products that state "This item is covered by Newegg.com's Non-Refundable 30-Day Return Policy", or items labeled as “Non-refundable” (or similar labeling) must be returned to Newegg.com within 30 days of the invoice date for this policy to apply. Products covered by this return policy may only be returned for a replacement of the same item.

So you will not get a refund if you return it to NewEgg.

I just grabbed a copy off of newegg also. Does anyone know if you can still cancel at stage four? I would hate for it to sit at that stage till the 24th.

EDIT: Step 3!

Nope, you can't cancel after Step 3 using the website. But they have really good customer service so I'm pretty sure they'll help us over the phone if they don't ship today.

Got hit by the friends invite guy, I checked it over with some of my friends who have watched the ending and they said it wasn't right. Luckily, the actual friends request is so blunt and lacks so much detail that it doesn't really hinge on the game even if it was true.

One thing I've noticed, there seems to be no way to save guest profiles, it's only a small problem though. (By this I mean guests can't save their appearance and emblem like they could on Halo 2).

Guess it's one way to make more people pay for LIVE Gold though.

Alright, I'll just get a replacement and then take it to Walmart for my money back.

Newegg crashed? This is getting way too much attention then. No way we're getting them early.

I think that's the point of the silver accounts.

Nope. I think you can call them and complain/ask but they might not cancel the order. If a call doesn't work I think you might have to wait until the 24th. Hope they ship ours before the MS Ninja's attack.

i just got charged. bastards better be shipping then :P

i completely expect all of our orders to be canceled or delayed though

This thread is full of "holy shit" concerning the effort by the people wanting to spoil the game for us. I wish my Gamestop would break the street date--damn rule followers. Also, where are the prizes for this thread? I would have thought there would have been another between here and the last prize.

We paid for overnight shipping we better.

We'll get overnight shipping...from the 25th. :(

This is a bit of a predicament, though. I've been spoiled because the street date was broken, yet Microsoft probably won't allow any more orders through that they can stop, forcing me to endure the possibility of more spoilers. If enough street dates are broken and spoilers are everywhere, at least change it so your consumers aren't fucked further.

Well, Newegg just charged my debit card. Let's see if it goes out the door today.

Arghh, why is everyone else at higher steps than me. I use Newegg all the time for a non-profit I work for, although usually purchases are made on the company card. I just logged into my company account but used my address and credit card for payment. It is stuck at step one, WTF? I never have trouble with online payments, it figures that now I'll have some. :(

can arne confirm this banning rumour for playing retail version of Halo3 early?

It's untrue, not true, bollock, false, bullshit, de la merde, foutaise, etc...

MS can't and won't do that. It's not the consumer's fault.

thats someones order from gamefaqs.

Awesome, I preordered from there this morning.

EDIT: Damn, still at step 3. Here's to hoping that the rush didn't kill this for me. Since I ordered it 6 hours ago.

MCV reports that Argos, a catalogue retailer, broke the official release date of Halo 3, allowing consumers to acquire the game a week before the official release date.

Halo fans have been able to buy the game from catalogue retailer Argos – and have sent pictures of their receipts and copies of the game into MCV.

Pro-G contacted Microsoft and the software giant confirmed that it will ban the Live accounts of those who play the game earlier, even if they avoid online play.

Simply not connecting to the internet doesn't appear to be a solution either. The rep also confirmed that Microsoft is able to ban accounts based on information collected by the console which shows when the game was played.

So bullocks?

Kind of Halo related. NFL Players get all the breaks. It would be cool to play against NFL players but Carson said they log on anonymously. I didn't know you could do that on Live (I don't have an XBOX 360).

no one will confirm it, its horseshit. there is no way they could do that, there would be too many "uninformed" consumers that just bought the game as it was made available by retailers. the retailers taht broke the street date are the only ones MS could go after.

MS will not deny the rumor though, as some people may believe it and not urchase a copy till the actual planned date of release, the 25th
