We need to give credit where credit is due, that gif was originally posted in the Football/Futbol/Soccer Thread, which is the best thread on this forum.

Also, mad props to that Voc guy who was ahead of his time.

Yeah, that's the article from their latest magazine, which voc shared with us a few days ago.

Thank you sir for doing the busy work I would not.

A friend pointed out that the most likely candidate for the 'returning' weapon would be the Brute Plasma Rifle. It would also be ideal for taking down shielded enemies.

This got me thinking about ODSTs and other Marines holding weapons made for Spartans and Covenant. I know they can do it in the games because you can swap them for the human weapons they're carrying, but I never really paid attention to it - are they oversize? Does it make sense canonically? Surely your average six-foot human would struggle to aim a Plasma Rifle designed for a Brute.

EDIT: Then again I guess Helljumpers aren't exactly 'average'...

I just finished listening to the most recent podcast and enjoyed it very much. It would be great if they were more produced and released more frequently.

You know, that reminds me. I still have to listen to the last bit of the show. I was nearing the end, but I had to go do stuff, forgot to listen later. Though, I probably didn't miss a whole lot.

More frequent podcasts needed, yes.

Unlike the holiday 1up Yours show, all the mic swapping wasn't too confusing or hectic. It was great listening to the Bungie podcast heavy weights share a few choice words. I just hope urk isn't stuck with coffee duty all the time. ;)

Could be wrong, but I seriously doubt we'll ever see that weapon again. I think that was a result of a severe lack of time, not really a design choice they were really happy with.

And for what it's worth, the GamePro Halo article isn't that bad at all. Some of the art they have for Halo Wars, including the cover and the story's two-page opener is really impressive. I know the optimism for Halo Wars in this thread goes up and down with every press release, but I have yet to hear a gaming publication report anything negative about the title.

Man, you people and your Elite nostalgia.

What? You getting mad over there?

And yeah, we had some really good games going tonight. Sorry I had to bail so early, but I was feeling like absolute shit. My stomach was killing me. :(

So I received a three month XBL card with my 20 GB hard drive (Microsoft's recent memory upgrade offer), and I've been noobishly fooling around online with a friend. We're both Corporals (2nd grade), so it goes without saying we're bottom dwellers :lol . I'm hoping to at least climb to the rank of Sergeant so I can get that sexy H1-styled helm.

Anywho, an interesting thing I noticed in my stats, especially given that I do wuv the AR quite a bit:

I'm sorry Assault Rifle, that BR is just one spunky broad. Plz don't be upset at the shell casings in the sheets.

It is an elegant weapon from a more civilized age..............but from Halo so in the future.

Edit: It is interesting how close the % of BR kills in ranked is to the % of AR kills in social though.

Any Sandbox today? I'll be back in a few hours, hopefully something will pop up. Oh wells. I'm not really expecting anything, but the pics were taken last week, so there's a chance we could see them today.

If we get Elites, you think we'll get "Wort! Wort! Wort!" back?
I'm sure you could hear it at times, but their conversation will be like it is in Halo 3 (except cursing you. Man, I don't know how the ODST on his own will really stack up against an Elite / Good Brute.

Oh I was playing Floodgate last night for the campaign score and when those beautiful elites swooped down from their dropship to give me and my co-op buddies a helping hand against the many waves of flood, it was the greatest thing EVER. With their dark, deep voices contrasting against their flourescent, beaming energy swords it brought a tear to my bloodshot eyes.

I hear comments from people that the flood aren't fun enemies to fight. I just don't understand this opinion as Floodgate is one of my favourite levels of Halo ever, only beaten by The Silent Cartographer. In Halo 3 Bungie really have turned the Flood into what i thought of as a slightly tedious play at adding diversity to certain levels into just a plain awesome experience. They feel really zombie esque the way they all come at you en mass. Also provides a different experience, allowing you to swap the br/ar covanent skirmishes to shotgun/energy sword dismemberment fests. God do I love the Flood in Halo 3.

As someone who really disliked the flood in CE and 2 I think Bungie did a much better job with them in 3. The addition of weak points that I can BR for massive damage turned from damage sponge to intense adversaries. Floodgate is my favorite non-vehicle campaign level, it's so atmospheric and intense; it's a stronger flood level than 343 GS in almost every regard. I still hate the Pure Forms as they just soak up damage and their projective attack is annoying as hell on Cortana.

Agree with pretty much all of that. Are the pure forms those things that sit on walls and take 108 BR rounds to drop? If so, yes I also wish they were expelled from all Halo related levels.

Absolutely not true. 343 has the "big reveal" through the best cutscene in Halo 1 (and probably better than any cutscene in Halo 3). 343 takes place in a Forerunner research facility, which serves to only compliment the Flood encounter (the overall mystery of all that had happened there); energy bridges, 343 is longer than Floodgate. The only thing that FloodGate does better than 343, in my opinion, is the lighting, which is to be expected.

Pro tip: Use a different weapon, like the Needler ;b

Congrats Cocop =)

As for the flood argument, I didn't mind them at all in any of the games. There were times where I didn't like parts, but I don't think I ever had to harm my controller. Maybe it's just me.

[edit] Actually, I take that back. The pure forms on the walls are pretty damn annoying.

When we did the annual achievement run through the highlight was probably you screaming like a girl as they would fall from the sky and then proceeded to chase you in particular. I am 90% sure they could smell your fear LOL

Yup. And the Brute Shot drops them with two or three rounds, even on Legendary with some skulls juicing them up. On Cortana, they are scattered through the level pretty evenly, especially where the turret dudes hang out.

I said "almost" for a reason. The lead up to the flood, running through a dark jungle with the covenant in disarray, watching the cutscene, and escaping through the forest with a mysterious blue orb were amazing to play; the first time through. The core of the level plays like ass with the flood being AI-less damage sponges and the AI structure feeling incredibly repetitive. The only fun gameplay segments came from the rare 3-way battles (something inexplicably missing throughout Halo 3) and the brief escape.

I would easily play through floodgate over 343 because while storywise it lacks the punch 343 had the first time you play through it; that's not what matters in the long run. Floodgate is less repetitive, more open, and just as atmospheric if not more.
