My first "saved film" was showing up in a 1up video of the Halo 3 Beta before it released to the public, via the F&F invite. I was riding on the back of a Mongoose shooting the AR at...nothing. I was just shooting to see how it looked, and that ended up in 1up's preview video. :lol
:lol

I've still got the saved film from the first time I ever played the game; it's of Sierra 117.

I've got my whole first playthrough saved and it amazes me how much I missed that first time. I think I only found the first terminal on The Ark and the one on Halo because I took a wrong turn.

Remove all traces of Shotty/Snipes and Team Snipers from Social, DLC, and TS playlists.

Relegate all sniper gametypes to a Team Snipers only playlist.

Please.
Exactly.

Before integrating into Matchmaking, remove radar. Success!!!

When I was in the F&F beta my gamertag got into an IGN video, and I got a bunch of messages from people asking me how I got access to it :lol

With the Olympics coming up I wish Bungie would have taken the opportunity to try on a double EXP playlist that was team ranked. It could have been spread across every weekend during the olympics, and they could have done prizes etc. like the valentines day one.

I mentioned this before but I didn't have time to work out all my ideas. Hey there is always the future!

Spartan Summer Games:
4v4 team games, ranked

Griffball
Team Oddball
Team Prowlin' (4 player rocket race variant on prowlers that I am working on)
Capture the Flag
Team King
Etc.

I'll fill it in with more later.

I love MLG for many reasons, but one of them is the lack of instakill with the flag and oddball.

I wish jumping beatdowns on the head still killed in one shot

... I know :lol As I said, I didn't choose the name. I actually had some good ideas, but they were all taken... of course. Then I told them just to make one as I played Xbox :p

Pretty sure they're live now. A couple of guys I was playing with last night retold the genius of Team Doubles objective games.

Apparently one option is Crazy King on The Pit, where the hill moves randomly every 30s, and the score to win is 100. Sounds great!

Those guys were pretty damn good. They like knew where we were at all points in the game, ever before we spawned.
Cheaters.
We made such a comeback. What a great game.

The Pit is a very predictable map. Which is why I love it so much. Like the part where I kill Azn and grab his sniper and goto sniper lift you can tell he called it out and the teammate naded top of lift and then one shotted me, which is just really good communication and awareness even if he knew the guy over there had snipe and he just saw his X and there was no communication you still would nade top lift just in case.

You can tell Stevo quit because he was getting mad hill time and we were still holding the lead by a sliver or losing by a sliver and Azn and Hubs were just being slayer-whores and not going for the objective, so he got upset and left. That's their fault.

You don't use Bumper Jumper?

Question about Bumper Jumper: Is it really worth the switch? I know it makes it easier to melee while controlling where you're pointed, but what are the other perks to it? How long does it take to adjust to the controls?

Wow, I think this was the best no scope that I've ever had.

(Juice & dax - this is what I was freaking out about)

Nice.

My best no scope was on Last Resort. The enemy was standing in a regenerator near the columns - I was near the shotgun under the fan. I was nearly dead as he pummeled me with BR shots. I only had one chance.... and pulled it off. Jumping no scope to the face while he's standing in a regen. I should put that up on Gamevee.

The main perk is no downtime at all in aiming while jumping. One well-timed jump can swing a close BR duel in your favour. It takes a day or so to get adjusted, and a week or two before you stop making occasional errors (like jumping out of banshees by mistake).

It's definitely worth it if you don't claw. I feel much more in control when jumping and meleeing now. For example, I would only make the flat->green box jump on The Pit about 8/10 times before, and now I do it every time. It took me about three hours to get used to.

That Pit King was mighty close considering they finished it out with three players, only one of whom really seemed to want to get in the hill.

I'd like to play in more GAF games but you guys are always on at the strangest times (I'm in Europe). The only GAFers I really play with are urk and Daravon, and the former is out of action now.

Haha, the claw. Does Walshy still actually do that?

I'll add ya (GT: backflip10019). I play a lot on weekends, so we could definitely get some games in.

You don't need to take your thumbs off the analog sticks for melee or jumping, so you can freely look, fire, and drop elbows midair. It takes a bit to get accustomed to the switch, and it's really not the huge advantage people make it out to be. Just a preference thing.

Makes the Banshee controls way more intuitive though. Boost, Roll, Shoot, and Fuel Rod are all parked up on the bumpers and triggers. When you first make the switch, you'll find yourself ejecting over the enemy like a moron though.

The main thing I've found since switching to BJ is that I win more BR vs BR battles because I can jump and aim at the same time without having to leave the right stick to push A. It also helps with melee as you said. It took me just about a week of playing to iron out every crease, but i was getting the hang of it after 3 or 4 campaign missions (Heroic).

In matchmaking I used to melee at the beginning of every game to re-inforce the idea that R1 is melee NOT B GOD DAMMIT!

Edit: Holy shit, beaten thrice!

Alright, guess it's time to try it out. I've tried it once before, but abruptly cut it short because I was getting manhandled in every game type I played. I guess I'll try to sort it out this weekend and see how things go.

My advice is start out in Campaign for a few levels and then take it to the Social playlists for a wee while. I was shocking the 1st time I tried to make the switch

Exactly. If you play well on Default stick to Default. There are a lot of pros who play on Default so it's not like switching to Bumper Jumper will suddenly make you the 4-shot noscope king. If you're good you'll crush kids with every control scheme.

I use the claw. Beats bumper jumper any day of the week, especially if you're a southpaw player like myself.

Anyone have any quick tips for FFA? I usually do't play it but I'm forced to at this competion today, I'm a 41. We're doing Oddball, Hill, and Slayer. It's all about timing right? Stealing kills. Letting the others fight and clean up after.

Oh and it's Bumper Jumper or bust.

I probably can't give you much advice, but learn routes around levels that hit the power weapons that are best (e.g. shotgun on Guardian is far more useful than sniper in most FFA games), and learn where people tend to congregate in groups and how to attack those from good vantage points. Sometimes it really is all about cleaning up with BR headshots.

Be selfish and whore power weapons and vehicles, even if you don't need them. I know this statement may seem obvious, but I've seen many players in Matchmaking take their considerate team oriented mentalities into Lone Wolves/Rumble Pit and leave valuable weapons behind. The simple fact is that a left behind Overshield or Sword, for example, could enable another player to make a big run.

Camp, hide, be cheap, whore the shotgun, take camo/overshield.

Wait for others to take down shields before moving in, keep a good eye on your radar for incoming enemies.

I use Bumper Jumper, 2 sensitivity. With a Full-Claw hold.

And fin during Oddball on Snowbound just hide behind a shield door with ball and beat all noobs down who come after you. Make sure to look at your opponent/s face at the tournament and yawn whilst doing this. For slayer try not to be the initiator of a fight but clean up a fight for a double or easy kill. Basically don't be the pickle in the middle. Thats what FFA is really about. Well LW FFA, If its 8 player FFA, like it SHOULD be its much more run and gun and less positioning.

So, Legendary Brawl for this weekend's playlist. LB is always pretty fun (especially Snipers/Lasers on Rat's Nest), but overall I'm pretty disappointed by Bungie's lack of anything new in this month's weekend playlist update. I mean, give Team Snipers its own permanent playlist and quit it with Grifball and Infection. Those gametypes get old very quickly. I want to see something new -- a new objective game perhaps? Two King (two hills)? Sniper Ball (Oddball with Snipers)? A new tournament? Or just random fun gametypes within a playlist (hint: Juices' list)? C'mon, Shishka, give us something new!

Thanks for the input everyone. I'll let everyone know how I did later. I'm really curious how Halo 3 behaves on a LAN. I've never played a LAN since Halo 2 and CE.

Look for the "Amp Your Game" somewhere here:

He did! Objective games in Team Doubles, just like we needed to fix up the second-most-popular playlist with the best rank distribution in the entirety of matchmaking.

It behaves like smooth butter. Its flawless. I can't stress how much Live ruins H3.

If you were going to go far you probably should have practiced some LAN first. It's quite different.

Yea about the Dbl Exp in August. After reading the august update list I was so dissapointed, mainly because my playlist got no love, but ALSO because we won't be seeing anything new this month that we haven't already seen. Id rather see something new, even if it turns out it sucks...You know you can't make an omelet without cracking some eggs and whatnot.

Tell me about it. We played maybe, what, one or two games last night that were more or less lag-free? Every other game that we played, at least one of the opposing players seemed to be warping around the map at one point or another. I guess there's no real solution to this problem, though. People just need to get better connections.
