You are right, i missed the point a little bit. Thought you think prices don't drop fast, but all big Sony AAAs drop to 30 bucks within very few month in Germany.

But Besides that i think you underestimate the commonness of those search engines and especially bargain sites like MyDealz. They are much bigger than you might think. MyDealz alone has many millions of visitors each month.

Just checked Amazon.de. Horizon is even 70 Euro from Amazon itself, but it starts in the 30s from Marketplace vendors. Even if people are not clever enough to use google or the mentioned sites for better prices, they at least have eyes and can see them on Amazon.

Wait what? TLOU2 wasn't $70. I don't even think everyone that bought it even paid $60 for it.
I also don't recall either Naughty Dog or Sony ever promising players Factions 2 upon their purchase of TLOU2.
Most assumed it would be a similar model to TLOU1 and Factions MP mode, but they ultimately had bigger plans for it.

The few users here who think otherwise wasn't even mad about the points that I didn't like about the game, they were mad because I said I didn't like the game, even after I pointed out everything I thought was wrong with the game.

And after they couldn't argue back in proper manner, they started this witch hunt against me.

Its kinda covered by the rapidity of how the situation escalates. Also it'd be bad writing not to factor in the relative normalcy and stability of life in Jackson not changing these characters. Death from exposure would be just a big a concern as being attacked by clickers or bandits, and there's also personal circumstance to factor in. Its perfectly in character for Joel to be more concerned for (or at least about) Ellie than himself and everything happens in this especially fraught period in their relationship - so there's always an element of distraction.

If we leave in place all the contrivances that lead Joel, Tommy and Abby to the house, there are things that could've been changed from there on that would make the brothers look like veterans and competent patrol guards.

I would expect living in Jackson would affect their character but not in ways that could bring more danger to them or that community. Each time they go on patrol should be a reminder what can happen to Jackson without adequate protection.

If his Ellie spats did affect his duties that much or he had become more sloppy over the years then I think we'd need to have had some hints of that where he did little mistakes and Tommy having to correct him. Now it just seems to come out of the blue.

The issue of contrivance that I highlighted earlier isn't that Joel fucks up and gets killed, its that Ellie is around to witness his execution at Abby's hands. That could happen off-screen and still function as an inciting event, but the way its set-up as this brutal tableau is in order to justify Ellie's descent into demon-hood or whatever!

The mistake is making out this whole situation is about Joel and his fate, when its really about Ellie and her emotions and mindset. As a character Joel will have long accepted that his life is likely to end sudden and bloody. Expecting him to be some sort of infallible hero figure is entirely unjustified based on the events of the previous game where he makes multiple mistakes and mainly survives out of sheer dumb luck.

I think that may be why some go to extremes to say it's all poorly executed. When in reality they didn't connect with or they projected what they would do onto characters that acted as themselves.

Is it not character of random people or the actual characters being discussed? They have a community to protect, but there also welcoming new comers. The rewrite you talk of just fills something that was perfectly filled. The fate is tragic already and fate was tempted doing a patrol in that weather. How would your scenario even come to any names being mentioned?

Those strangers hadn't been vetted yet so I don't see how they were deserving of trust so easily. Killing infected doesn't mean you're trustworthy IMO. They were on patrol for bandits and infected so stumbling across a group of armed strangers is a security concern, especially when you're cut off from any support.

In my re-write the brothers would keep they distance from the other group(avoiding the mistake of getting surround) and the groups would probe each other for information. They feed each other BS info and tensions rise, Abby figures out Joel is Tommy's brother and a shoot out starts. The brothers put up a good fight(maybe even wound/kill a few of Abby's group) but Abby's group has advantage in numbers and tactical training and eventually disable the brothers with gunshot wounds. Then the rest would probably play out as seen in the game.

TLOU 2 received an update on PS5. It makes no sense to remake TLOU2 already when TLOU1 will benefit much more from an upgrade. You can get away with a remake of a 9 year old game and charge 70$ for it. Not for a game that came out two years ago and already has PS5 enhancements.

The Days Gone directors debunked that in interviews they did with David Jaffe. One of them left 6 days after releasing Days Gone and the other one left many months later. They said Bend Studio killed Days Gone 2 internally before pitching it to Sony. Sony didn't kill DG2 because they never got that pitch. It was one of the bosses they have inside Bend (the studio manager) who blocked the pitch from being sent to Sony.

The pitch that later Bend sent to Sony was a new IP and it got greenlighted. Both directors only had good words for Sony management, said they always were very supportive with their creative vision, allowed them to do all they wanted and gave them all the support they needed, and were supported even with the mixes reviews they had.

Their reason to leave were more related with disagreeing and having a bad relationship with the boss they both had inside Bend Studio (the studio manager), not with Sony.

They also debunked any bad relationship between Bend and Naughty Dog: both studios helped each other during over a decade when one of the studios needs help because has a ton of work and the other one has some free people.
