The fact that Russia is shipping military equipment with civil aircraft is a big uh oh.

I bet those 17 Russians were going to help train Assad forces to build/use them.

Who goes to a country in a civil war for a holiday huh?

They successfully put down an Islamic insurgency (Chechnya). They have a $$$ surplus.

The US???

That's like saying the US put down a insurgency in Texas. Not really the same if you are trying to equate Chechnya with Iraq or Afghanistan.

Hard to feel sorry for Russia or Syria after reading the OP. Pretty shitty thing of trying to smuggle in either military equipment, or arms via a commercial airliner.

you ever feel like people are super naive these days ?

oh it'll never happen again... not a chance

pretty sure that was said at the beginning of WWI

whats so different now ?

Nuclear bombs. You don't pick fights with a country that can literally annihilate you in retaliation. No one has an ego that big.

nukes, for one

Russia has zero reasons to attack Turkey, the WW3 theory is flawed. Here's my quick analysis of current world politics: Turkey > Syria (possible) Israel > Iran (likely) China > Japan (not really) Germany > Europe (we are doomed)

e: beaten twice, damn you new page

Anyone expecting anything major needs to think again.

At the very most, I can see Turkey going into Syria and setting up a buffer zone around the border, to prevent the violence spilling over onto the Turkish side of the border.

Who's going to use nukes though? If were talking about between US, China and Russia. None of them will risk it. You can bet your ass nukes will be fired back.

Besides, we have plenty of conventional bombs that are almost equivalent to the strength of older nukes, so there's not much point in using them except for a serious last resort and very very very careful planning.

True

A stupid and small dispute between Servia and Austro-Hungarian empire started one of the bloodiest and futile war in History.
