Welp.
Stop overreacting... if you haven’t bought a game till now you will never buy it.
Hahah! You are not a typical gamer most of the consumers wont care.Me, having bought a copy of F-Zero GX for Gamecube just a week ago:
Games expire like yoghurt, people.
I was also worried about that since I still play PS3 and also like to chase trophies. But since you can still download the games you bought would mean you also van still synchronise with the server so that's a good thing. You can still download your purchased content, but for how long? Also, how long before this means PS3 and Vita progress won't sync up to Trophy server? Sony wants these old systems and games buried and it shows.

As long as I can download what I bought Im good
Welp.

I mean why would you want to buy a Vita game at this point? If you liked the game you would have bought it in the last 7 years.
Just curious: Fzero is physical or did u buy it Digital?
As of 19 October 2020:
- You will no longer be able to purchase PS3, PSP and PS Vita content, themes or avatars on our web or mobile stores. However, you can still purchase PS3, PSP or PS Vita content on their respective devices.
- We will also be discontinuing the Wishlist and all items currently on Your Wishlist will be deleted.
Existing PlayStation Plus subscriptions will not be affected by these changes. You will continue to be able to access and download all of your existing PlayStation Plus content.
Additionally, you will still be able to access your already purchased content from your respective devices.
Thank you for using the PS Communities feature on your PS4 console. As of April 2021, this feature will no longer be supported or available on your PS4 console.
However, you'll still be able to stay connected and enjoy messaging features and more on your PS4 console and the PlayStation App.
See...this doesn't make any sense. The expensive bit isn't the store, it's the CDN to distribute the content. In fact the store makes you some amount of money whereas the CDN, on its own, only costs you money. Shutting down the store without shutting down the CDN (or in this case just pulling all that data off it) makes about as much sense as shutting down the CDN without shutting down the store. If you're going to keep one running you might as well keep both going.Good that we can re-download stuff after closure.

Either the store costs a load of money to maintain, or Sony wants to force PS3 gamers to buying PS4 and PS5 games. Likely the latter as PSN funds can still be used for PS4/PS5 gear.See...this doesn't make any sense. The expensive bit isn't the store, it's the CDN to distribute the content. I am only active on PS3, PS Vita or PSP devices, and do not currently own a PS4 or PS5. What will happen to any funds left in my PSN wallet after the closure of the PlayStation™Store for these devices?
Your PSN wallet funds will remain in your PSN account, but you will only be able to use your wallet funds to purchase PS4 and PS5 products on PlayStation™Store on the web, PlayStation®App or on PS4 and PS5 consoles. If you are only active on a PS3, PS Vita or PSP device, don't use a PS4 or PS5 console, and don't plan on using one, you may request a refund of any funds left in your wallet. We recommend that if you plan to top up your wallet prior to the store closures, you only top up by the minimum amount required to buy the desired content. We will be updating this page with more details on how to request such a refund.
Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together? I’d recommend getting all the Parasite Eve games while you can. Local stores are asking for $70+ for it now.Thinking of getting:
- Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions
- Dissidia 012: Duodecim
- Persona 3 Portable
- NiGHTS
- Digital Devil Saga games
- Raidou Kuzunoha games
It is all out there already and pretty easy to find. No one has to worry about that. The biggest concern is hardware failures. Then your only option is PC or refurbished hardware.I suppose it's only a matter of time now before they stop letting people download their previously purchased games.
I guess one good thing to come from this is that these systems have been rife with piracy for years, which means it's feasible for people to make their own digital backups of their own purchased games. It also means that none of this digital-only content should disappear completely once this happens.

If you’re going to cut off the old system, you better make damn sure the old is playable on the new. Idiots.
The store needs to be kept secure, as it handles money transactions and license mediation. This requires ongoing continuous support both on the back-end and the console client.
Data storage is basically a big FTP repository, and as data only really flows downstream they can just incorporate it into their global storage footprint along with the PS4 and PS5 library. Permissions will get handled the same way based on PS+ and/or purchase entitlement. From the perspective of server handling, its all the same.
I have no horse in this race as I owned neither a PSP, PS3 or Vita. However this is worrisome for a product that’s only 10 years old. It’s good that you will be able to still download your purchases but seems only right that that would be the case. Seems pretty “googlish” but nowhere near as bad. Just makes me more concerned about an all digital future where publishers can potentially pull downloads from stores on a whim.
