Eh, that won't faze him.

Floyd wins the troll battle anyway if his father and uncles get involved.

Floyd's entire extended family can't even begin to compete with the troll game of Conor and Dana combined. It's not possible. Floyd might not be bothered by the trash talk but that won't stop Conor from verbally dismantling him like he does all his opponents.

We'll see. Boxing's full of hood ass goons that talk a lot of shit. Conor's opponents and MMA in general isn't quite the same crowd.

Not to mention Conor's out of his element here, and his go-to card that he's richer and more successful and the breadwinner of the event doesn't apply in this situation. All Floyd will have to do is talk about how great he is (as usual) and how Conor is owned by Dana. But for the most part, Floyd's actually likely to spend most of this time trying to legitimize Conor.

Bingo. Floyd will get a cut of every pretzel sold in that fucking place. His success lies in properly executed publicity. It'll be like every PBF fight: make his opponent seem like "the chosen one" who will finally beat him, talk up the stakes, act like it could always go either way. He'll revel in the trash talk because the better it is, the more money lands in his pocket.

This is why it's funny to see all the talk about McGregor verbally "dismantling" Floyd. He'll talk shit, sure, but that's exactly what Floyd wants him to do. That's how he's going to get paid.

It's like you guys haven't figured out how the Mayweather game is played after all these years. People buying into Floyd's carefully crafted narrative is how he wins before the fight even starts. Do everything you can to feed the narrative that this guy is finally "the one" --> take everyone's money who bought it and paid hoping to see you lose.

It's the Mayweather sweepstakes all over again.

You guys hit the nail. It's literally the way such a "boring" fighter with "no knockout power" continues to sell the most fights. Funny I was talking to a friend of mine yesterday and he asked me about this fight and I ran it down to him. The game, trying to legitimize Conor. The whole MMA vs Boxing selling point. Hell even the "Great White Hope" narrative plays some part. Add Euro and American fans and you see why Mayweather wanted this fight to happen.

McGregor's really good at identifying a person's weak point (mentally) and getting inside their head. Did it with Mendes, Dos Anjos, Faber (Garbrandt), Aldo, Diaz to an extent.

The single most important reason why it probably won't work on Mayweather is that he's just an old dog who's experienced and developed a very thick skin over the years. If you've been convicted for domestic abuse and battery like 5 times or so, and it's been a constant talking point in your legacy and career over the last 15 years, I doubt you're really fazed by an Irish guy talking shit to promote a fight.

Conor talks trash for you guys more than he does to "get in his opponents head"

Everyone talking about Mayweathers drawing power which is indeed amazing but Conors last 4 fights have all done over 1 million buys. He would be in the top 10 biggest draws in boxing history if he posted the numbers he does in MMA in boxing instead.

Floyd needs Conor for a huge payday, there isn't anyone in boxing that could give him this paycheck. Likewise for Conor there isn't anyone in MMA that will make him as much as Floyd.

The fight is the best thing for both parties. Conor will talk some mad shit at these Press Conferences but it will be more to get people to give them $100 than it will be to try and mess up Floyd

Exactly. It's marketing.

Not going to happen, but GGG coming off a Canelo knockout could potentially be in the same ballpark. People would turn out for that since Floyd would be a clear underdog.

Dana White continues to be a piece of garbage of a human being

Why can Dana get Helwani off the tour??

Did they put Schaub there because he is pulling for Conor and Ariel probably would not have done so? I doubt Ariel legitimately believed Conor had a chance here.

"Do you give that round to Conor? 'Yeah, I think so, man...' And it's going to add up, and he's gonna start putting rounds in the bank..." - Brendan Schaub, July 11th, 2017
